As a businessman, I am extremely impressed with not only the work ethic of the owners, Bartholomew & Kathy, but also their integrity. On tow levels of our home, my wife and I have a free standing wood burning stove as well as a wood burning stove insert in our fireplace. All the work we have had done at our home by AB RICHARDS PROFESSIONALS through the last 6 years has been absolutely top notch. Our most recent visit from their team was for chimney and fireplace cleaning at which they did a wonderful job. Our chimneys are very tall and our main fireplace hearth is massive. We don't know if the previous owners of our home ever had a professional chimney sweeping done, but we are confident to know that all is safe and as clean as possible for when it is allowable in our county to enjoy a wood fire. Over the last 6 years, AB Richards has also done excellent interior and exterior window cleaning for us, meticulous gutter cleaning, and heavy ivy trimming/removal from our home. Our house is quite tall, so those jobs are challenging, requiring extension ladders, expert equipment and experts to get them done right. The AB Richards Professionals team has always delivered. They've never failed to go the extra mile, with regard to their diligence, the care and respect they show to our home and property, and their genuine concern that we are pleased with the results of their work. We highly recommend them to anyone in need of the specialty services they provide.

AB Richards brought in a different company to do the duct cleaning. They claimed that we had 3 mains. He made a big deal about why mains were expensive and why they had a flat price for all if them because they might have to cut in to clean them. Well they didn’t. They cleaned all three mains (our house is 2300 square feet) and two chimneys in less than 3 hours. Whenever we showed hesitation he’d say he’d give us a deal. Oh your in cottonwood heights I will give you a deal. At the end of the whole thing the pricing ended up being very confusing and there were no deals given except for $100 off a dryer vent cleaning. He charges over $200 for that but if you look up the average price on Angie’s List you know that’s a rip off. He also didn’t consult with us about the chimney sweep. We didn’t know that our chimney didn’t have a damper. It is wide open which is why the last owner never used it and put insulation inside. AB Richards claimed it was too messy to inspect first, but the reality was that there was insulation in it. Charged us for full price for both cleanings. Angie’s list gives you average prices for work done. Do the research and decline the jobs that don’t seem fair. If you think $1,600 for three hours of work is fair and appropriate please continue with AB Richards.

Ir was quickly completed and the finished product was very excellent! The cinder block wall was disintegrating and desperately needed repair. A patio wall and fireplace were also in need of repair. The finished walls look like new. It is very a very satisfying job!

Prompt, efficient. I should have done a price comparison before I hired them -- over $700 seemed excessive in retrospect. They didn't wear booties on their shoes and walked all over my white carpet in boots fresh from outdoors and snow. Also they didn't really have towels to get equipment from door to the fireplace -- although cover for fireplace area was more than adequate. I had to point out part of the screening that was still dirty when they were about to leave and they had to bring their huge vacuum inside again -- more dirt on the wood floor.

"When we arrived at [Member Name Removed]'s we brought in a towel to wipe our feet at the front door. We also brought in a second towel to wipe off the wheels of our soot sweeper vacuum. We also prepped the white carpet area with a 9' by 12' tarp and blanket. NO MESS! During our final inspection we saw the two small dusty areas on her screen. We then immediately reprepped, brought in our vacuum and cleaned areas in about two minutes. We always try to do the best job we can. We made it right. I would think [Member Name Removed] would have appreciated that. Again, NO MESS! Why the price was $720.00 is because it was more than a basic chimney sweep. We not only thoroughly inspected and cleaned gas unit and swept flue, we also ran a basic diagnostics on the gas unit and replaced old fire enhancer with new. Also, as mentioned to her in our initial phone conversation, we are based out of Cottonwood Heights which takes about one and a half hours to Park City round trip, two workers sitting, fuel cost and wear and tear on work vehicle. I communicated our pricing to [Member Name Removed] which she agreed to and was fine with. Last thing I would like to add, that [Member Name Removed] failed to mention in her review, is that after we visually inspected her gas valve that was down under her floor, we found a leak which was emitting gas into her house which is completely unsafe and needed to be fixed. I had arranged for our certified gas technician to come and fix the leak but [Member Name Removed] later canceled finding someone else. We are sorry that [Member Name Removed] was not 100% satisfied, but are glad that we did an excellent job for her and that we were able to locate the gas leak during our inspection. Again, very prompt thorough job with NO MESS!"

I was very impressed with the work done by these two. They took time to make sure that the dust and dirt was contained on tarps and inside the fire box while doing the cleaning. Our fireplace contains Pipes the circulate the heat from a fire back into the room and made this a difficult job. I was not given excuses for why this could not be done, but rather was explained that it would take a little longer than expected, given this and the overall size of the fireplace. I would highly recommend these guys to anyone needing their fireplace cleaned.

Returned my call promptly, I got appointment within a few days, and owner Bartholomew and assistant/wife Kathy showed up on time. He worked outside from top while she ran the vacuum setup in the small, 1937 fireplace. They were thorough. We discussed condition of the gas log that's been there for many years, and decided to reuse the cleaned up concrete logs and replace broken metal grate that they stack on. Bartholomew suggested a bit smaller grate would better fit the size of the existing gas jet assembly (he was right). Regarding this manual style gas jet assembly, we discussed merits of putting in a new one or keeping the one that has always worked fine. He thought if we're satisfied and it ain't broke . . . . One last thing: Chimney needed steel caps, he pointed out, as moisture, debris, critters had access. I agreed and he located fireplace grate and chimney caps on the phone, then drove off to get them while Kathy finished cleaning. All done efficiently. Good cleaning job, good suggestions. Happy with it.

They are terrific. He and his wife did a great job and were completely thorough. They took their time and did it right and windows turned out great. Was more expensive than we thought, but we had no context for the type of work and it was worth it and we more than got what we paid for. He is a great guy and has done our gutters as well and did a great job. He is our go to for these type of services and we would not use anyone else.

Wouldn't Hire again. Saw a "Gutter Cleaning" special on AL. Called to set up appt and identify price. Was told that a "smaller house" would cost around $150 pre AL coupon. Gentleman came out on time spent approx 20 minutes, charged $215 after AL Discount and attempted to sell us into additional services that we absolutely did not need. Gutters were clean but will complete job personally next time - now way worth the expense.

"In response to this review I must say that I quite frankly don't understand it at all. 1. In [Member Name Removed]'[Member Information Removed] initial call to our company inquiring rain gutter cleaning, we quoted to him that our minimum fee for gutter cleaning is $150.00. That price covers a smaller one level style home. [Member Name Removed]'[Member Information Removed] home is a two story high home. Before beginning the job we gave them a firm bid of $225.00 and they agreed and hired us. My question is if he wasn't happy with the price why did he hire us to do the work and also why didn't he mention that he wasn't happy with the price at the time of service? 2. His claim that one man was there for twenty minutes is totally not true. There was a crew of three of us working the job which took us around one hour to complete. Add in travel time to and from the job site and the total time vested was approximately six man hours. 3. [Member Name Removed] said in his review that we charged him $215.00. We were paid $210.00 after the $15.00 discount was applied. Check number 1561 issued Sept. 21, 2017. 4. I found it strange to read on [Member Name Removed]'[Member Information Removed] review that we tried to sell him additional services that he "absolutely did not need". Given the many trees around [Member Name Removed]'[Member Information Removed] house and the amount of debris that we removed from his gutters, we offered to install downspout protectors to prevent future debris and buildup from getting downspouts clogged. If downspouts get clogged, they can create major problems and possible flooding and water damage in peoples homes. All we were doing is being thorough in looking out for his best interests in preventative maintenance. Why would a number of companies be manufacturing these products if they were not necessary. 5. [Member Name Removed] gave us a B rating on quality of work. I personally supervised this job. When we arrived the gutters were packed full of debris. Before leaving job site gutters were cleaned immaculately. They couldn't have been cleaned any better. All downspouts were also flushed, unclogged and draining beautifully. 6. At the advice of Angies List, I personally reached out to [Member Name Removed] via phone to see how I could make things right for him. [Member Name Removed] never returned my call. I decided to post this response to his review in our defense. I also refunded a check for $60.00 to [Member Name Removed] via mail bringing the cost down for him to our minimum fee of $150.00. I personally think [Member Name Removed]'[Member Information Removed] review to be frivolous and unwarranted. It just goes to show that no matter what you do and how hard you try, some people you just can't satisfy."

A.B. Richards did a great job in assessing our roof and letting us know what needed to be done, and was sure to let us know what was a nice to have and a need to have. We ended up needing a chimney cap, and sealing of our dummy chimneys and some other exhaust vents. Bartholomew found us a chimney cap that fit ours, even though it was not a standard size that was made anymore. His wife did a great job of thoroughly cleaning the chimney and was really helpful in showing us how to use our dampener. They even recommended a wood supplier before they left.

AB Richards fit me in emergently. Eric and Kris were top-notch. They came in and knew exactly what they were doing and did the work efficiently. They got a ton of crud out of my dryer vent and duct work. Kris fixed a problem he found with the dryer. And Eric fixed a problem that could have been fatal. The previous owner had stuffed insulation in the space where carbon monoxide is supposed to disperse. We felt so much better and breathed so much better after having this work done. Amazing results.

We hired A B Richards Pros to clean our raingutters windows, and dryer vent. They showed up on time and did an excellent job. They even removed some stubborn hard water stains on some of the windows that needed restoring. They cleaned our dryer vent and all the raingutters. They installed downspout protectors to prevent debris from getting in the downspouts. Good price on protectors and services. We will definately hire them again

Window Cleaning
This is a family owned business, and I was thoroughly impressed. Some of the windows were oxidized and had water spots on them which required acid washing. They came fully equipped with ladders, equipment, supplies, even water. I HIGHLY recommend this company. They were thorough, and worked quickly. I could not believe the difference in the windows!
