YIKES! THIS COMPANY DOESN'T CARE ABOUT YOU OR ITS REPUTATION! 4 people knew that I was having a problem and none of them helped me; Austin, Kyle, Dustin or the Regional Manager. I'm blown away by their lack of customer service and communication. The mitigation process, with Austin, went great at the beginning but everything after the repair estimate was a NIGHTMARE! Once Dustin McBride, the one handling the mitigation process, THOUGHT I wasn't having them do the WHOLE job he started treating me like crap. He wouldn't respond to my text questions. I called and talked to Kyle on a Thursday and let him know that I was concerned about the lack of communication. He assured me he would talk to him and make sure he communicated better with me. 4 days later Dustin texted me at 4:30 pm (right before he was going home for the day) and said they wouldn't be able to start my job for 6 WEEKS. I texted back and said, "When I talked to you 2 weeks ago you said the job would be started in about 2 weeks." He texted back that was based on them doing ALL the work. I assured him that I never said they weren't going to do the whole job and I just wanted to wait to see what the estimate said. There were crickets after that. I'm so confused about this manner of handling problems. I also called and left a message for the regional manager of Paul Davis but it's been 4 days so I doubt if they care either. If you look at some of the other reviews about Paul Davis, Paul Davis stops working when someone complains about a problem they are having. They run away instead of actively solving the problem. I checked out the Utah Disaster Kleenup reviews. I was impressed that when someone complained they wanted to find them in their system and make things right. That's the kind of company that I want to work with, one that is concerned about their reputation!!!!! I've hired UDK to come and do the work. I guess my $14,000 wasn't enough for Paul Davis. (they would have gotten over $22,000 for the whole job). Unfortunately for them, when I'm treated poorly I let EVERYONE know about it. They should have at least acted as if they cared. Check out my evidence below. My texts are in green and Dustin McBride's are in b&w. It took him 5 days to get back to me. How hard is it to send a text? To PaulDavis: I hope that you guys learn from this experience and don't just assume the customer doesn't want you to do the whole job. I wanted to see the repair estimate before a signed the work authorization slip. I didn't know what I was locked into once I signed that. Once the estimate comes back, just call the customer and say, "hey I've got your approved estimate back from the insurance company. They are going to cover this and this. We can start ____. Can I please get that deductible from you?" I would have said, "that sounds great. Do you know how much it would cost to paint the whole basement at the same time?"

They came quite a ways to come out to our home. They really made sure we understood what they were doing in the appointment and were informative. There was one guy here doing the work and it took most of the morning to complete. He did a nice job.

I have to say that based on their recommendation, I was truly disappointed. The project started June 23rd and finalized August 12th.
The job required some light drywall work in two basement room on the ceilings, ceiling texturing, and I requested painting of the one bedroom. The drywall person sent to do the job would call indicating he was 15-30 min out and would show up over an hour later than that. He'd spend 30 min working and say he'd be back tomorrow. He did an okay job, just wasn't punctual at all. The painters hired were very nice, but did terrible work. The downstairs bedroom ceiling was half done. Area's of sheet rock had shown through. They were also hired to paint the upper stair way and landing walls, trim, and doors. On their initial visit to do the job along with the basement work, they painted the doors, however there were several spots that you could see never got touched by a brush or roller. They also didn't paint the trim or door frames. When I called my contact at Paul Davis his response was and quot;I didn't know you wanted that.and quot; Why in the world would one want to paint only doors, and leave door frames and trim with 10 yr old paint visible, then lay new carpet. The painters came out the next day, they failed to touch up the basement ceiling, they did the trim, yet still failed to do the doors where they missed painting. I had to call the foreman again. In the mean time carpet came in and got laid, thus now we risk getting paint on the new carpet if and when the painters ever came to touch up the work. Also left undone on their initial visit, there were two large dings in the stairway area I asked patched. No patch was done on the first visit and the painters just painted over the dented walls.
The foreman referred me to his and quot;Granite Guy.and quot; He advised he was very good and very reasonable. I contact him and he came right out to measure and give me a bid. Good sign. I was sent to a granite vendor and selected a slab on July 7th. It took nearly 2 1/2 weeks for them to get the slab and at 3 weeks we finally got granite. I cannot say that they did a great job, nor will they send me an invoice. The installer said he forgot it, required payment, but won't respond to my calls now. Their delay caused us to be delayed 3 weeks in getting our cabinets refinished.
To my dismay they sent the same painters back to do my cabinet repainting. The first day they sprayed them with an oil base paint and left within a few hours. I had asked them if they planned to do caulking of the work done to the cabinets and such and they indicated they would. Only some caulking was done. They returned the second day and painted the cabinets. They advised they had completed the job that day however, I was told I would have three coats done on the cabinets. They did maybe one besides the primer. I spent my entire Saturday going over their work again because it was such a horrid job and I dreaded having them come back.
We had asked if we could add under cabinet lighting. An electrician was sent and lights installed. I take partial blame for not checking every single light, but one of the units was defective. I was required to pay the electrician and the completion of the job and he deposited my check within the hour. I tried to call him to advise of the light issue but received only voicemail. I texted him and eventually received a response that and quot;when he was in my area again on a job he would swing by and we could work something out.and quot; I cannot understand how I have to accept incomplete work and then have him suggest that we 'work something out.and quot; What is to work out? Fix the darn light Envision Electric. This has still not been fixed.
In the end I hired my own plumber to finish the install of the dishwasher and also hired someone to do the remaining cabinet work. Talking to the project manager about my concerns, and the fact that I had to re-do all their painting on my cabinets, he basically acted as if he could care less. His high recommendation meant nothing to him. I was sent a bill.
I see a trend with contractors it seems. Unless you are spending $10K and live in a parade of homes home, they feel like they don't have to do a good job. It's very disappointing.

Response from Paul Davis Restoration
"I spoke with [member name removed] regarding his concerns and have offered to come back to the home and fix anything that has not been addressed. [member name removed] is correct, there were some things we did incorrectly on the job and have since addressed the issues with the appropriate individuals and tradesmen. I appreciate the feedback and opportunity to improve as a company."

I had a very good experience with this company. The workers were nice and did really good work. They asked questions to make sure that everything was to my satisfaction. I hope I don't need to use them again. But if for some reason I have another need for them I will.

Initially, they were very responsive to my needs, but I believe that they were overbooked and fell way behind on the job. They went way over their deadline in the middle of winter. The quality of the work was good, but their timeliness was unprofessional.
Response from Paul Davis Restoration
"We apologize for taking longer than planned on your home. Since 2006, the company has changed ownership and has hired the correct amount of employees to properly service our customers. If for any reason we can help resolve a problem, please just let us know and we are more than happy to help."
