The job required some light drywall work in two basement room on the ceilings, ceiling texturing, and I requested painting of the one bedroom. The drywall person sent to do the job would call indicating he was 15-30 min out and would show up over an hour later than that. He'd spend 30 min working and say he'd be back tomorrow. He did an okay job, just wasn't punctual at all. The painters hired were very nice, but did terrible work. The downstairs bedroom ceiling was half done. Area's of sheet rock had shown through. They were also hired to paint the upper stair way and landing walls, trim, and doors. On their initial visit to do the job along with the basement work, they painted the doors, however there were several spots that you could see never got touched by a brush or roller. They also didn't paint the trim or door frames. When I called my contact at Paul Davis his response was and quot;I didn't know you wanted that.and quot; Why in the world would one want to paint only doors, and leave door frames and trim with 10 yr old paint visible, then lay new carpet. The painters came out the next day, they failed to touch up the basement ceiling, they did the trim, yet still failed to do the doors where they missed painting. I had to call the foreman again. In the mean time carpet came in and got laid, thus now we risk getting paint on the new carpet if and when the painters ever came to touch up the work. Also left undone on their initial visit, there were two large dings in the stairway area I asked patched. No patch was done on the first visit and the painters just painted over the dented walls.
The foreman referred me to his and quot;Granite Guy.and quot; He advised he was very good and very reasonable. I contact him and he came right out to measure and give me a bid. Good sign. I was sent to a granite vendor and selected a slab on July 7th. It took nearly 2 1/2 weeks for them to get the slab and at 3 weeks we finally got granite. I cannot say that they did a great job, nor will they send me an invoice. The installer said he forgot it, required payment, but won't respond to my calls now. Their delay caused us to be delayed 3 weeks in getting our cabinets refinished.
To my dismay they sent the same painters back to do my cabinet repainting. The first day they sprayed them with an oil base paint and left within a few hours. I had asked them if they planned to do caulking of the work done to the cabinets and such and they indicated they would. Only some caulking was done. They returned the second day and painted the cabinets. They advised they had completed the job that day however, I was told I would have three coats done on the cabinets. They did maybe one besides the primer. I spent my entire Saturday going over their work again because it was such a horrid job and I dreaded having them come back.
We had asked if we could add under cabinet lighting. An electrician was sent and lights installed. I take partial blame for not checking every single light, but one of the units was defective. I was required to pay the electrician and the completion of the job and he deposited my check within the hour. I tried to call him to advise of the light issue but received only voicemail. I texted him and eventually received a response that and quot;when he was in my area again on a job he would swing by and we could work something out.and quot; I cannot understand how I have to accept incomplete work and then have him suggest that we 'work something out.and quot; What is to work out? Fix the darn light Envision Electric. This has still not been fixed.
In the end I hired my own plumber to finish the install of the dishwasher and also hired someone to do the remaining cabinet work. Talking to the project manager about my concerns, and the fact that I had to re-do all their painting on my cabinets, he basically acted as if he could care less. His high recommendation meant nothing to him. I was sent a bill.
I see a trend with contractors it seems. Unless you are spending $10K and live in a parade of homes home, they feel like they don't have to do a good job. It's very disappointing.
"I spoke with [member name removed] regarding his concerns and have offered to come back to the home and fix anything that has not been addressed. [member name removed] is correct, there were some things we did incorrectly on the job and have since addressed the issues with the appropriate individuals and tradesmen. I appreciate the feedback and opportunity to improve as a company."
"[member name removed] were absolutely wonderful to work with. We appreciate the opportunity to work for you."
"We apologize for taking longer than planned on your home. Since 2006, the company has changed ownership and has hired the correct amount of employees to properly service our customers. If for any reason we can help resolve a problem, please just let us know and we are more than happy to help."
