My rating for this company is about the accounting/billing, not about the actual house cleaner who was sent to my home. She did a good job. I posted a need for housecleaner on Thumbtack. Kamil Kowalkowski responded that I could have my house cleaned for $80, saving "40% on 1st visit with the coupon code below." Kamil then said I needed to use "Coupon Code 40% OFF: SIGNMEUP (Cancel after first cleaning, get charged one-time price.)" I went to their website, as directed, and used the code for the discount. The website said the cost was 80 bucks and some cents. The cleaning was good, the cleaner very nice. However, I was charged $85. I complained via email to the company that I was charged more than I was quoted and wanted a $5 refund (I am not cheap, but I do expect folks to keep their word, especially when it is in print). "Dennis D" responded by ignoring my request for a refund and asked how the cleaning went, and stated that my next cleaning was scheduled for four weeks later. Clearly he did not read my email. I responded by saying the King of Maids lost my future business because they didn't respond to my query about the overcharge. "Dennis D" responded by saying this: "That is no problem Josh. I can cancelling [sic] your cleanings with King of Maids but cancelling after your 1st appointment will void your 40% 'recurring' discount resulting in a $54 charge for difference." So, basically, I was sold a service at a price of $80, with the express statement I could "cancel" after the first cleaning, but the business is now saying that if I cancel future cleanings I will be charged another $54 bucks. I'm disputing the charge based on the solicitation emails I received from Kamil. My point is that the King of Maids is a deceptive and manipulative company. My claim this company is deceptive and manipulative has little to do with their "maids"---who are basically subcontractors---but you should know that this is an organization for which the right hand has no idea what the left hand is doing. I am arguing that you should avoid hiring the King of Maids to clean your home.
