James and his crew arrived on schedule at the agreed upon date and time and began work on my front and back yard. They managed their time perfectly as they completed tasks and had materials arrive seamlessly between them. They were extremely considerate of my property and asked me before throwing things away or hauling them off. They were incredibly lenient regarding my schedule and extremely patient with my animals (two dogs). They finished the scope of work (including cleanup) on schedule and made sure we were pleased with the quality of the work performed. Boy, were we ever! The price point for this job was absolutely perfect and discussing it was even easier. You will never find a group of individuals more committed to quality and respect for customers than Down to Earth Landscaping. Do yourself a favor and give them a call.

Based on the reviews I read about Jim and his company I had pretty high expectations; he didn't disappoint. From the proposal to completion everything was done on time, as promised and beyond. Jim showed up for the first meeting on time and was able to provide a proposal pretty on the spot. He was helpful in making recommendations and I didn't feel like I was being sold a bill of goods. He made recommendations on how to treat my existing landscape and provided what I asked within our budget. Jim and his crew showed up on the day that was promised and didn't let a little rain get them off course. Showing up on time, providing a service on time, cleaning up after the job was done and communicating throughout could be considered an expectation, and it certainly met. But Jim and crew did a few things that went above and beyond normal expectation. While checking the new drip irrigation, the crew noticed an irrigation leak in the middle of the yard. It was the end of the day and clearly shouldn't have been Jim's problem, but hie returned the next day and fixed it at no extra cost. After laying all the plants we had ordered, Jim realized that he had over ordered and had four more rose bushes than the bed space would allow. Instead of returning them or asking me to pony up for the extra cost, he simply offered them up, asked me if there was somewhere I would like them to be installed and put them in no questions asked. Also, after he had made the first delivery of plants, I inquired about a couple of extra trees to be planted in the back yard. Jim responded quickly and was able to provide and plant two nice trees in the back yard the same day. Lastly, a few days after the installation I couldn't remember a product that Jim had recommended so I texted him to ask for a reminder and it was just a matter of minutes before I got a response. Overall, working with Jim was painless and how I wish all providers did business: forthright, timely, as promised, communicated effectively, helpful, etc. I look forward to completing the backyard landscape with Jim and Down to Earth.

Down to Earth did an excellent job landscaping our new yard. The entire crew was very professional and showed up on time each day and worked hard! Jim was very flexible with our schedule and accommodated all of our requests. The yard looks great and I would definitely recommend Down to Earth to anyone.

The team work continuously, I was worried they would suffer heat stroke and wished they would have taken a few breaks! Absolutely the best contractor I've hired. Was able to get an appointment within a few days of calling. Even with weather delays, I was quickly rescheduled. Work was completed to perfection! I would hire them again.

Jim's crew was always on time and they did an excellent job. Raw materials were delivered on time and the construction schedule for the week was maintained. The sequence of the various parts of the job were laid out in an organized and logical manner. There was consistent follow up from Jim and checkpoints along the way to ensure everything was being done to our expectations. The quality of the chop block and flagstone work was excellent.

James Hall was excellent. I have used continuously. It was an excellent experience. I used him for a big deal, but he continued to provide good service at a good rate. It was not just because I had a big deal. He performs excellently, he arrives on time and he does the work that you request him to. I have no complaints about him.

We called Jim and set up an appointment for him to come out and give us a bid. He showed up on time! He listened closely to our plan, but also made suggestions. His price was more than reasonable and we agreed on a start date. He and his team arrived when he said they would and they got right to work! I was very impressed by their professionalism, and attention to every detail. I was also impressed by how quickly they got the job done; it only took only 2 and half days for our yard to be totally transformed! They created exactly what we wanted and more! We trust and like their work so much, we've hired them to do our back yard and Jim was able to fit us in next week! I am so thankful this company was on Angie's List. I feel like we really found a great company to work with and I couldn't be happier!

We received several quotes from different companies, and Down to Earth had the best mix of reasonable price and landscaping experience. They worked hard and completed the job in a few days, which is amazing considering the amount of work that was being done in our yard.

Jim was very easy to work with, I called him Tuesday morning and set up an appt for that evening. He called me 15 mins prior to confirm, showed up took all measurements and worked with my budget. I told him what I could afford and he gave me options that would fit into that. I pretty much told him what my likes and dislikes were and expectations in regards to the over all look. Once I agreed we set a date for the following week. He called and asked if he could come by a day early to start prepping which I was okay with. Showed up following day and finished all the work that day as promised. His crew was very respectful and cleaned up after they were done. Yard looks great and I am getting many compliments on the new curb appeal. I felt even better when I found out that one of my neighbors paid almost what I paid and they have nowhere near the amount of detail we do :) . Overall he was very easy to work with didn't ask me for any money upfront he said just pay me when I'm done. I will definitely be using his services again for the back yard. VERY HAPPY

Jim and crew showed up around 9am, cleared the old grass, laid fertilizer/mulch mixture, trimmed my trees, and checked to make sure my sprinkler system was working properly after install. We were lucky to call Jim and crew because they worked hard for me and my home to make sure we picked the right sod (not the most expensive but one for our needs), showed us how to take care of the new sod and cleaned up our yard/sidewalk. Great company, we will refer all our neighbors to them and we appreciate the work they performed in a very timely manner. Thanks Down to Earth

Down to Earth Landscaping has given us our backyard back. We have the lovely Texas clay soil which is either rock hard when dry and a deep, gooey, sticky mess when it gets wet from rain or the sprinklers. It was so bad that we had the sprinkler system zones for the entire backyard shut off to prevent the mess. With a number of dogs that go in and out a few times a day, it was a nightmare of clean-ups every time it rained and the mucky mud clung to their feet. The backyard had also not been used much for many years because of this and was just plain ugly. Jim came out and measured out the yard, listened to what the problems were and recommended that we install the large river rocks with steel edging across the rear fence area and around the large shed on one side of the yard. These are the major problem areas for mud. Jim also recommended the type of grass sod that our yard would be replaced with after they removed the old grass and weeds and leveled the yard. We originally were going to have the work done within 2 days, but the rare rains that we received that week delayed the grass farm from cutting the needed sod for our yard, so Jim delayed the work until the following Monday (April 15th). Jim and his crew arrived early and got right to work. They did an amazing job of "fixing" our backyard, removing the old grass, weeds and debris for haul off (which they did), leveling the yard with topsoil, installing the metal edging and a LOT of large river rocks, and then eventually the new sod with a dressing of mixed soil on top of that. What a huge difference and I am very pleased with the work and final results. Jim made sure the sprinkler heads were unblocked and worked and had brought materials to raise them if necessary. All of the work was done in one day, which amazed me with the amount of rock that had to be brought in and moved to the backyard. It looks great and even my teen sons commented on how great the yard now looks. The dogs can now go in and out when needed and not return standing 2 inches taller from the accumulated muck on their feet. I can use our sprinkler system again and welcome the rains without having to deal with the clay mud mess. One minor thing we found the next day after the work was done was 2 of the sprinkler controller valve boxes had been inadvertently covered on one side of the yard. The other 3 boxes had been left accessible, so it was not a big deal. I called Jim and he and his crew came out the next day and located / cleared one controller box, but the second one resisted all efforts to locate it despite Jim and his guys literally pulling up every piece of sod and probing for the box. Jim realized that the box was not going to be found easily and spoke with our irrigation system guys and paid them out of his pocket to come locate the access box with an electronic detector. Jim will be returning in about 3 weeks to fertilize and check the new sod for progress or problems and I have no doubt that it will be just fine. Down to Earth will be our go-to-guys for all of our future yard projects. Jim and his crew are hard workers and very personable. Thanks for great work!

Down to Earth was really fast, squeezing me in only a few days after I called. We even had a rain-delay, but Jim kept me informed of the plan, and possible start times depending on the weather. The work was expertly done, and he accomplished in about 6-8 hours of work what would have taken me multiple weekends by myself. The trimming looked very professional, and the mowing, and pulling up the grass in the gravel areas was also unexpected -- i thought I would have to do that myself, but Down to Earth literally left everything absolutely complete, spic, and span. Great work -- Down to Earth will be my go-to Landscapers going forward. Thanks!

James was on time, professional, and fair price. They came out for the estimate and were able to come the following Friday to complete the project. On Friday, they worked all day and got the sod planted and plants in pots. Saturday, they came back to finish the rest of the work. They were on time, worked hard both days and cleaned up all the branches from the work. I would highly recommend them to anyone for their professionalism, great work, and attitude. James was thorough and gave great advice about additional features we could add to the yard and helped us set up the sprinklers and replaced broken heads. We are going to use them for all of our yard care needs and continued service.

He was a bit curt. I felt like he was almost on edge. It was at the end of the day too. He was the one that responded promptly. I kind of thought that the quote was generalized and not really broken down. I don't think he showed up the day he would.

Jim, was very nice. He called and kept in contact with me about the time he would be out to give me an estimate. The price he gave was very fair and I would have gone with his services but I also wanted someone to maintain my yard. He said he couldn't do that because he is based out of Schertz and I live in the county of San Antonio so it was too far for him.

When I returned from my 3 day business trip, I was absolutely stunned! The job Jim and his team did was fabulous .... no, it was better than that, it was fantastic and exceeded my expectations! I arrived home late so wasn't able to see the result until the next morning, but I'm telling you that when I woke up the next morning and viewed the work that was done, I just got a big smile on my face .... Thanks, Jim!! The work was outstanding and everything that was promised was delivered and more. It would have taken me a number of weekends at full tilt to achieve even close to the same result. Being pleased and satisfied would be an understatement. These guys are obviously pros and according to my wife, were prompt, courteous and efficient .... just the way we like it!! I would certainly recommend this company and their work to anyone who wants a quality experience as well as capturing back some of their own discretionary time. To be able to go away and not have to worry about supervising the work on your property makes the total experience all that much better. On-time, polite, great job, would have them do our work again

Jim came out on a Saturday to provide an estimate for mowing, edging, and trimming some bushes. After speaking with him, I decided to schedule the work. He came out when he said he would and did a good job. Definitely will be using him again.
