Down to Earth Landscaping and Lawn Care

Project took four days, everything that they did with there business was spectacular. I would highly recommend them.

Jim came over and met us to look at the project. He measured it out and we discussed options and pricing on the spot. They (5) showed up the next Monday morning as agreed, ready to rock, and had the old concrete walkway and patio broken out and hauled off by day's end. Jim and his crew worked 9 till 7 almost every day, save one when it rained them out. The end result is stunning and Jim is going to come back by and seal it for us in a few weeks when it's all had time to dry out a little. Will post pics then if I can append this review. We already have more projects for them and highly recommend their services!

Crew was prompt and courteous. Job was done on time. Work area was cleaned after completion. Finished product was outstanding. I would and will use again.

Jim brought in a three man crew and they completed the work in the specified time frame. Looks really nice!

Came out and we discussed some things I wanted done. He measured front/back yards, asked me what I wanted, etc..Told me the approximate price he thought it would be, which I agreed sounded about right. Said he would call/email me with a quote in a few days. It's now exactly one week later & have not received a quote or heard back from him. I've checked my personal email & phone, checked for messages through Angie's List - nothing. Maybe he tried to contact me & for whatever reason I missed it, or he just wasn't interested in the job. I have no idea. Seemed like a nice enough guy, and I chose Down to Earth based on the reviews here. I had another company come out the following Wednesday & had a quote by Friday, so I went with them.

We could not have ask for more. Jim and his crew are fantastic. We have never seen such hard workers. From the beginning to the end removing grass, old bushes, removing an old tree, laying out the design, laying the new plants, laying flagstone for the walkway and entryway--everything was absolutely professional. We have a beautiful front yard to be proud of and have received many compliments from neighbors and passers by. Jim and his crew are the best and we will use again for future projects.

I called and spoke with James and explained I wanted to get two quotes on one side of the fence replaced and have the tree in my back yard trimed. We set appt for 8/6/2014 at 5:30. I never heard from him. I told him I had somewhere to be at 7:00pm that evening. He explained the quotes would only take about 15 mins. I was at my house until 6:30pm. No show. No call. And its now Friday. I was very supprised due to his reviews on Angies List. Oh well, move on to the next one.

Everything was PERFECT from start to finish. Jim was on-time (actually early) to provide a quote at a MUCH better rate than other providers. The quality of work is excellent. He and his crew began the project when they said they would and finished on-time. We were especially pleased with how well they worked with the company that installed our irrigation system (Tri County Sprinklers - they were awesome also) Both projects were done at the same time with no issues. I just proved their contact information to each other and they did the rest. The retaining wall they built is beautiful. It matches the flagstone to the house. It is also the same stone used for the flower/plant beds in the front and back. I will be using their services again for compost in March and any other projects in the future.

Jim is a great guy! He and his team worked in the heat of July and really transformed my yard. I was getting texts from my neighbors telling me how impressed they were with the work from Jim and team!

The crew arrived on time and each one was friendly, professional and hard working. When Jim gave me his initial estimate, I told him that I had a budget. Well, he was able to provide service within my budget. His bid came in lower than others with more to offer! They did not cut corners and cleaned up very well. I will hire them again to build a fire pit.

Down to earth did an awesome job! Jim and his crew were punctual, professional, and had a great work ethic. My wife and I just moved to the San Antonio area and our house had been vacant for 8-9 months. So needless to say there was a lot of work that needed to be done. Jim showed up with four other guys and they worked almost continuously for 10 hours. Jim came about 2 weeks prior to discuss all of the things that needed to be done and gave me an accurate quote. The day of the job I had a few more things I wanted done and Jim was very accommodating to my requests. This was a great experience and I will definitely use down to earth in the future!

I called to have an estimate on a yard clean up and new landscaping for both the front (curb appeal) and back. Jim came out and I really liked him. It was a Thursday night and he said he'd have the estimate on Saturday. I never heard back from him and it's been two or three weeks now. Not sure if he just didn't want the job or what. I know there's plenty to do. I'll just keep looking.

They called back the next day and came to see the job and give us the estimate that day.They did the work 2 days later.They did what they said they would,were punctual and efficient and cleaned up after they finished.We were very pleased with their work.

Work is still in progress for another day or two, but Jim and his crew are awesome. Jim was very responsive when we first contacted him and he reviewed what we wanted done and said he and his crew could handle it. We pretty much gave him free reign with the design and new plantings and are not disappointed one bit. He provided us a diagram of his plan and a list of the plants he intended to use, along with his price for the work. We asked about a written contract but he said he preferred to work via the handshake and he's a man of his words. We are more than pleased with how the yard is looking. Jim and his crew are totally professional and some of the hardest workers I've seen. Very impressive.

Jim came out promptly and gave a bid on the job based on what we wanted done. He was also flexible on scheduling when we had to change the agreed upon time. His crew worked hard, fast and efficiently. They did a great job using all the natural loose rock from our property so we didn't have to buy new stone for the stonework. They did a great job and we will definitely use them again. The workers like to listen to great blues bands on their radios and iPhones. For us that was an extra added attraction. ;-) Highly recommended. These guys are good. Note: I was originally going to bid this job out between 2-3 landscapers, but decided not to because of Jim's forthright demeanor and professionalism. I feel his price was a good value for the 5 days of work.

Jim came to our house and was prepared to take all measurements for an estimate. The estimate was delivered in person and on time. We made the deal and Jim came with his crew on the appointed day and they were on time. The first day weather was cold and raining but they went to work anyway without complaining. It did not affect the quality of the job. The weather got better in the next few days and they did everything promised. We are very happy with the quality of work and the price. We highly recommend Jim.

Jim Hall is a true professional. His attention to detail is outstanding and we are pleased with every facet of the landscaping project he completed for us. He and his crew installed a beautiful flagstone walkway, terraced an area of our backyard with river rock, completely replanted two flowerbeds, re-sodded a large section of the yard, and dismantled and removed an aging playscape. Jim and his crew were prompt, friendly, and efficient, and they cleaned up the yard each day and thoroughly cleaned up at the end of the project. We are now contemplating a patio project; once we've decided what we'd like, we will definitely be calling Jim at Down to Earth! Highly recommend this company!

Jim and his crew are amazing! Jim replied to my landscaping request within an hour of me sending him an email. He came out to my home the next day and had an estimate with a drawing within 20 minutes. They came out 3 days later and completely transformed by ugly backyard to a beautiful one. All of the guys were nice and such hard workers! They finished my backyard in one day and I could not be happier! I will definitely use them again in the future and refer them to all of my friends and family!

They were quite good. They were prompt. They did what was asked. They did it thoroughly. The price was decent. As much as possible, they used products that aren't toxic. I have two dogs so that's very important. Their pricing was reasonable. They did quite well.

After reading glowing reviews on Angie's List, I added Down to Earth Landscaping and Lawn Care to the list of landscapers I contacted regarding estimates to Xeriscape my front yard. Of all the contractors I contacted, and there were several, Jim Hall of Down to Earth proved to be the most responsive and expressed the most interest in my project. Jim and I set up a time to meet at my property to discuss the job and not only was he on time, but he actually texted me about 45 minutes before the appointment to be sure we were still scheduled to meet. I explained to Jim what I had in mind for the front yard, gave him an idea of plant materials that I like, and provided him with my budget. Jim said he would contact me within 2 days with a design, price, and list of plant materials. Guess what? Jim contacted me and provided me with the information exactly when he said he would! Better still, his price came in under the maximum for my budget. We met at my property to go over the plan and to allow me to visualize it and ask questions. I made one change in the design, which was to use decomposed granite rather than mulch in some areas. To my delight, Jim seemed perfectly fine with my requested change. In fact, he even proposed that he drop off samples of different sizes and colors of decomposed granite so that I could make the choice of exactly what I wanted. I had no doubt that hiring Jim was the right move for my landscape project. When Jim and his crew arrived to do the work, they were on time, kind, courteous, and worked very hard for a very long day. In my opinion, they went above and beyond to be meticulous in their work. I think the best thing I did was to turn my yard over to Jim's creativity and not try to control anything once I made the decision to hire him. Not only did my yard go from literally being the worst one on the street, but it has become the best one on my street! All this, and no grass to mow! If you value a company who is responsive, timely, provides individual attention, and has a passion for what they do, then I most highly recommend hiring Jim Hall and Down to Earth Landscaping and Lawn Care.

Jim and his crew were great! They showed up on time and worked fast and efficiently. We love our new patio so much we had to have friends over to grill out the day after they were done. I would definitely recommend them to others and certainly use them again myself.

The guys were great - even played with our dog during their (very short) breaks! There were a couple things we thought they missed and when we pointed them out they were taken care of right away.
