I was very thrilled how well they cleaned up after themself.I was very confortably with them being in my house . I really can not say enough about them and my next project is going to be the kitchen. So I will be calling them soon! Just a fyi I have alot of neigbors that walk the neighborhood that love my windows..So all I can say is see you soon because I have some more work I want done. And just another thing Band E....I sooo love my back door with the blinds in it!
Description of Work: I own a home built in 1968 with a rock(stone) exterior and I wanted to replace the windows and doors on my home..needless to say I was worried about getting this done because of the rock. but Rick assured me it would look great after it was done .AND WOW! is all I can say about how great it looks!

Just to update this review, Band E were made aware of the nails in the AC lines as well as the non grounded outside electric plug.and and we never heard back from them EVER!. If any other statement to the contrary is made by them it is a complete falsehood.- Also either their and quot;leadand quot; carpenter on the job was not telling us the truth as to his true profession as a sprinkler system installer or Band E are making false statements, you can decide for your self who is telling the truth. The correct address of Band E Contractors is 5602 Randolph Blvd Suite 2San Antonio, TX 78233 (210) 654-9160 If you use these reckless and unprofessional hack and quot;contractorsand quot; at Band E, a very appropriate name for them, you do so at the risk of your and your family's safety....Read On! September 2008, we had Band E Contractors come out and give us a bid for installing Hardyplank siding on our newly purchased house, installing a set of French doors and a Mahogany front door and painting the exterior. We were friends with the brother of one of the owners and we decided to go with them figuring we would get a professional job and be taken care of, WRONG! Band E hired out the job to mostly inexperienced and incompetent guys, most of whom, could not speak nor understand more than a couple of words of English. To say they were unqualified is an understatement in the extreme. Not only were they not professional carpenters, they did not even own the proper tools for the job, not even an electric saw or even a hand miter saw! The lead and quot;carpenterand quot; told me he was just helping a friend do the job and that his expertise was actually in sprinkler systems! He was one of only 2 of the 6 workers who could understand and speak English which made it very difficult to communicate with the workers when the and quot;leadand quot; man was not on the job.. I had a remodeling business for years so it was a good thing I had tools as you'll read on later. Here are the details as to the level of incompetence we experienced from Band E Contractors. When the laborers, I will not call them carpenters because none of them were, covered over the existing siding of our home they did not bother to mark out the placement of the studs. Consequently, they shot approximately 17 nails into our central air conditioning supply line, which we didn't realize until about 2 months after they left the job. My wife and I had been painting the entire inside of the house ourselves for about 2 months so we had the windows open during this time and didn't use the central air conditioning until the end of October. We are in south Texas so we had a few hot days in the Fall, good thing we turned it on or we wouldn't have known about it until the Spring! We closed on our new home September 5, 2008 and the AC was working fine when we were inside the house prepping for painting the week prior to them starting work. We also had an inspection before buying the house and the central AC checked out fine! When we called Rick, who is and quot;Eand quot; of Band E Contractors and who was supposedly the supervisor on the job, to come out and look at all the nails that were still stuck in the supply line, he refused to come out and examine the problem and said if he was ever in the area he would come by. Well, I'm writing this in 2011 and he never has been back out to our house, thanks Rick! Luckily for us we had a 1 year home protection plan that came with the house when we purchased it. That policy took care of the AC and we got a replacement unit, although we did still have to pay some out of pocket costs for items that weren't covered under that protection plan. Unfortunately, the AC techs had to cut two large holes out of our sheet rock to locate where the freon leaks were. The damage to our walls is still there since we are reluctant to hire another and quot;contractorand quot; to come repair the sheet rock. The sheet rock repair was another cost NOT covered under that home protection plan. Need further proof of Band E's incompetence? While the work was still in progress, we had to call them to come out and replace an exterior GFI electrical plug, which they broke during the installation of the Hardyplank siding. Rick (one of the owners of Band E) came out and installed an INTERIOR 2 prong NON GROUNDED plug. This, needless to say was a very DANGEROUS and idiotic thing to do and even the most inexperienced handyman would know this!!!!!! We called Rick and asked him to come and replace the plugg and his reply was and I quote and quot; I'll ghet by and look at if I'm ever in the areaand quot;. That alone shows the lack of pride in his work and the respect the man has for his clients. We also had B and E install French double doors leading out to our patio, which to this day do not close properly. I'm sure the gaps have caused us to have higher than normal heating and cooling bills. We have tried weather stripping and everything short of replacing the french doors, but they still do not close properly. Once again, we are reluctant to hire another and quot;contractorand quot; do work at our home. They also massacred the french door latches since the morons used the wrong template when notching out the wood for the door handle hardware. One of the and quot;supervisorsand quot; assured my wife this would be fixed, but it never was. We also had Band E install an expensive Mahogany front door that we had purchased (not part of B and E's bid price). When Rick and his helper installed the front door, it was a bit too large for the existing opening. Not having a hand plane, let alone an electric plane, or any other tool with which to adjust the door's size, their method to make the door fit the opening was to take a 12 pound sledge hammer and forcibly smash the door jamb to widen it. I nearly lost my mind when I saw this and made them stop immediately until I could grab MY belt sander for them to borrow to sand down the door's edge. Every word written here is the absolute truth and we have pictures of the work in progress as well as all the mistakes after the job was and quot;completedand quot;. Band E Contractors do not pay ANY attention to detail nor is the work any less than SUB-STANDARD. They hire unqualified workers and they do not stand behind their sloppy workmanship. The only reason we have not sued them is because of our friendship with one of the owner's brother. We had to join Angie's List to warn future clients to be wary of these dangerous, incompetent and completely unprofessional contractors! A word of caution should be all that is needed.
Description of Work: Installed Hardy-Plank siding and installed a solid Mahogany front door and double back doors to our patio. The top quality front door was one we provided and the cheap double doors were bought by B&E.

Response from B & E CONTRACTORS INC
B&E Contractors is just now responding to this review because we were only recently made aware that it exists by a potential client. It is our policy to immediately address and resolve any and all issues that may arise, with our client’s satisfaction being our number one priority. We do not know or understand why it took this particular client three years to write his review. The first of the many inaccuracies this review mentions is the project cost. There is a significant difference in the $10,500.00 he has listed and the $7400.00 he was actually charged. We were paid in full and without argument at the end of the project. It is not our practice to take money from an unsatisfied client and we find it peculiar that somebody so seemingly dissatisfied would willingly write a $7400.00 check for full payment. The ethnicity of our subcontractors is irrelevant, but just to clarify another misstatement, the lead carpenter assigned to this project was born and raised in the United States. He and his crew speak perfect English. The skin color does not matter. What matters is that he is a qualified contractor licensed with the City of San Antonio and showed up at the project with the proper tools for the job. He is correct on the danger of installing an interior two prong, non-grounded plug. What he forgets to mention is that they have not been available for purchase for 20+ years. As for the story on the air conditioning, he states that the system wasn’t used for two months after we left the job. He states again that the system wasn’t turned on until the end of October. Our records indicate that he signed his check for payment on October 20, 2008. Perhaps he meant to type December instead of October. Regardless of the timeline, if he really did have nails in his A/C supply line, he is correct in saying B&E put them there. There would be no other rational explanation for them being there. His review gives the pretense that we were made aware of the situation at the time and unfortunately, that is just not the case. If we had known about it then, instead of reading about it now, we could have and would have immediately fixed the problem. Another misconception in his review is in regard to the French Doors. The doors were purchased from a reputable supplier and were not of substandard quality as implied. There was no need for a template and nothing was notched out as these doors come from the factory already machined and they are sold as a weather tight unit. There is a discrepancy with his account of the front door installation as well. After a quick internet search, we discovered that we are not the only business he has taken the time to write such a colorful review about. Although it is very unfortunate he felt it necessary to write an unfavorable and inaccurate review, we hope that future clients will take into consideration the other reviews listed about our business.

This was the best construction experience I've been through, and I've been through two others this past year. Mike, the laborer, came in every morning, put down drop clothes to keep dirty shoes off of carpet, he took down pictures in our room so they wouldn't fall when he was destroying walls in the bathroom. Every day before he left, he cleaned everything up and put it away in the garage. The only clean up I had to contend with was dust. Our bathrooms are gorgeous!
Description of Work: We had two bathrooms completely gutted and remodeled.
