I saw an advertisement they had for a great deal on this laptop...So I purchased it for this reason. It was a good computer for a great price. The promotional code worked and the order was complete. My computer was supposed to be delivered that week, on Thursday according to the conformation email. Then I got an email saying it was going to be delayed another day. Fine. Then I got an email saying that the purpose of the email was to have me confirm I still wanted the computer..And If I didn't get back to them in 24 hours, my order woudl be cancelled(this email was unusual in itself). SO we called and they said, everything is fine, the computer will arrive Friday 2/5/10. Friday evening, I received an email saying that the order was canceled. When I called, I was put on hold for over an hour, disconnected 3 times, and was eventually told they were closed for the night. No one could give me any answers or fix the issue. We called again on Monday and were basically told that they canceled our "confirmed" order and cannot offer us the same computer or anything close for the sale price. I ordered a computer that was advertised by Dell, and I feel I should be given that computer or an equivalent computer for the same price I was promised. If Dell oversold something, it shouldn't be my loss. They confirmed my purchase online, as well as on the phone 2 days later. Terrible , terrible customer service.. No one could give us an answer or offer a solution.

The laptop has dual CPU, 8 gigabytes ram, diagonal screen, and has other features. They provide good quality laptops, and have very good customer service, and that is why I chose dell. Most of my clients have dell computers, and laptops. Their website is pretty responsive. My overall experience with them has been good.

Overall, it went well. The tech was on time. He worked purposefully and without error. He talked rather quietly, so I couldn't hear him most of the time, but we were just chatting in general. He changed my screen, and I have not had a problem since then.
Description of Work: The screen on my laptop went blank. I called Dell customer service, and after a rather long and unsatisfying troubleshooting session on the phone, the rep arranged to send a technician to my home. My computer was still under warranty. He said someone would call within 24 hours. The tech called that evening, and came to my home the next morning.

Great. Had a few issues setting it up with my wireless router and they were very helpful. As always you have to be patient, and it can be frustrating talking to staff in India, but in the end it was fixed.

I called the customer service number and they asked a few questions and routed me to a gentleman who helped me some more. He was located in India or Thailand or someplace like that. He was helpful and asked me more questions. He was patient with me since I use a hearing aid and it was quite a site to see me taking apart my computer to do the things he asked me to try. Through his patience, he was able to determine that my power cell was out. He told me to leave the computer just as it was and someone would be contacting me to fix it. Dell called me maybe the next day and said I would be hearing from a local technician and indeed I did. He came out the next day and was able to fix it right away. It works great now and was fixed under warranty so there was no charge. I bought the 3 year extended warranty and I am glad I did.

Dell is okay. To be honest, we're thinking of getting rid of our Dell and getting an Apple. We are just kind of Apple people and we love those computers, so I would doubt if we would buy from Dell again. They are average I guess, but we just like Apple computers better.

DELL IS A GREAT COMPANY BUT THEY DEFINITELY ARE FOCUSED ON SALES. I FELT A LITTLE PUSHED TO PURCHASE SO I PUT THE SALES PERSON OFF ONE TIME AND DID SOME MORE RESEARCH. WHEN I CAME BACK TO THE SALESPERSON I ASKED FOR AND WAS GIVEN $50 OFF MY SYSTEM PURCHASE. WE LOVE THE NEW PC AS OUR 5 YEAR OLD ONE HAD SLOWED DOWN QUITE A BIT. MY ONLY OTHER CONCERN IS THAT THE DELL IS NOISY COMPARED TO THE GATEWAY IT REPLACED.
