Since I have a Depot warranty, Dell sent me a shipping box to send my computer back to their Texas Depot for repair. I sent the computer for repair, however the system returned back damaged in the shipment. The computer was not packaged right and sustained scratches during the shipment process. I called Dell, expressing my concerns. They decided to send a technician to my house to fix my computer. Technician replaced the necessary partson the computer, however after he left the computer started heating up. I called Dell, for the third time, expressing my concerns about the new issue. They sent a technician in again to replace the motherboard and the fan in my computer. however after the repair the computer had sharp edges at the sides. I had the technician (who visited my house) call dell for the forth time, to report this new issue. Dell told the technician that they will send new parts after few days to address this issue. The third technician visited my place to address this issue. This time, he replaced almost every single plastic part on my computer. However, the issue of sharp edges at the sides still existed in the system. I had the technician (who visited my house) call dell for the fifth time to reportthis new issue. Dell told the technician that I will have to send the computer back to dell Depot for repair. They promised me that this time they will definitely fix the computer. I received the box from dell to ship it back to the Dell's Texas facility. However, the computer came back with the same issue. The computer has sharp edges at the three sides and it provides discomfort and a possible safety hazard while typing. There was a new issue where motherboard seems to be bad. I contacted dell again for the 6th time to express the concerns. Dell Manager told me that he will escalate the issue to their higher department. On 03/04/2013 I received a call from Ria in Escalation Department. She told me that my warranty is no longer valid and they will refund me for the warranty. And I will have to pay for any further repair. I told her that my warranty is good till 3/24/2015, but she told me that she is going to change that in the system (my dell account) and it will no longer appear as under warranty. I asked her to give me her statements in written, but she was reluctant to forward that information to me via email or letter. When I told Ria in Escalation Department that my computer was in a better position before I sent it back to dell after my original call on 01/19/2013 and it is their fault that they sent the computer back in worse position and Dell haven't been able to fix it yet. Instead of apologizing, she told me that Dell is not responsible for that.
Description of Work: I have a Rapid Response Depot Warranty from Dell for my Studio 1557 Laptop. According to my contract, my warranty is good till 3/24/2015. On January 19th 2013, I contacted dell to fix following items on my computer: 1. The display hinges are really loose. 2. The display bezel is loose and coming off. 3. Power button is intermittent and will turn ON by itself while it is in sleep. 4. Display Panel brackets (left and right are misplaced as well. 5. Escape key is intermittent and doesn't work all the time. 6. The palm rest interferes with the mouse pad operation. $1400 approximately - includes the original computer cost and the extended warranty price

Dell's service department is absolutely terrible. I called them up and I got someone from India, who I could not understand at all. My phone is in the other room from the computer, so I had to run back and forth between the two. He didn't have the patience for that and neither did I. When I asked for the manager/supervisor, I got another person who I couldn't understand at all. I don't think a person should have to talk to somebody in a foreign country just to get service help. Finally I got my son-in-law to come over and get things running again, but after this horrible experience I would not use Dell again.

I have worked with a lot of computers, and the reputation of Dell at that time was definitely high-end. I bought the laptop online and it arrived quickly. There were no problems. The price was quite good too. The computer has had no failures or faults and it works great.

We bought a refurbished computer online after a family member bought one a year before and hasn't had any problems. I was a little skeptical buying a refurbished computer, but we've had it for 6 months, and have had absolutely no problems (it came with a service plan anyway, if we need it). We will consider doing this again for our next computer. We did everything online and got what we wanted.

I PUT NORTON AND SYMANTIC IN THERE. THEY UPGRADE FREQUENTLY, BUT MY COMPUTER GOT WORSE AND WORSE. IT'S MIXING UP ORDER. IT'S A MESS. I EVENTUALLY PAID FOR SOFTWARE TECH SERVICE. IT COST A COUPLE OF HUNDRED DOLLARS FOR 1 TIME USE. I GOT THE 4 TIMES USE FOR $400.00. THEY TRANSFER YOU SO MANY TIMES ON THE PHONE FROM 1 PERSON TO ANOTHER. FINALLY, THIS GUY SAID I HAVE A LOT OF VIRUSES. I ASKED, "HOW?" AND HE SAID MY NORTON DIDN'T CATCH ALL THE VIRUSES. THEY NEVER SENT ME MY OFFICE DISK. THEY FINALLY SENT A DISK BUT IT WASN'T OFFICE. I CALLED THEM AND THEY SAID THEY CAN'T SEND OFFICE WITHOUT A CHARGE. I PAID $375.00 NOW AND AM UNHAPPY.
