It is forgotten history once the job is finished.
They avoid the communication and follow up.
The job was for about 4-500 sf. flooring to remove existing tiles
and install new floor.
Initially, it was going to be laminate, but changed to vinyl plank
after the owner of this business convinced me vinyl plank would
be the better option in terms of maintenance.
The owner was very friendly, easy to talk to, and aggressive
in getting the job. He knocked down his initial offer by 800 dollars
to win the bid from the other business.
Scheduling and installing was very smooth like a breeze.
When the job was completed, I realized the color of the floor
was not exactly what I had envisioned, but I acknowledged
that it was ultimately my decision to take his sales pitch,
and made no complain about it.
The whole process seemed flawless.
We were told to contact them for any problem any time
and it would be taken care of. We're given the written
warranty as well.
We thought our search in Angie's list was definitely worth it.....
UNTIL we had to contact them 3 months later for the job
not very well done.
The thresholds were coming off from the door sill.
Additionally, I found base boards were not installed
at some corner spots, which I didn't notice
when the work was completed in May.
I contacted the owner, and they came to fix the door sill,
but stuffed up some caulking under the corner door frames
instead of installing baseboards....
leaving uneven unfinished look at the rims around the floor.
When I expressed my dissatisfaction and questioned
about their crew's workmanship, the owner made it very
clear that he did not care about what I think by completely
ignoring and not responding to my email. Period.
No explanation as to why it could not be done in the way I'd like,
or how it could be done.. nothing what so ever.
After waiting his replay for a week, I reminded him that
I am still waiting for his reply.
He finally replied two days later saying he would stop by
that afternoon to look at the problem.
To my surprise, he did not show up.
I reminded him again that we are disappointed about his
no-show and ask to resolve this matter soon.
It has been a week today, and there has been no
reply from him. I am not surprised this time.
I am extremely disappointed how bluntly they refuse to
communicate and try to disconnect with their customer,
especially with all the friendly image that he projected
before the job.
As far as my experience went, they operate with two
completely different faces .. before and after the sales.
I now have a big question about how they even made it
to Angie's super service award.... it is simply absurd.
I want them to finish the job they started, or hire other
contractor to finish it on their expense
if they are unable to for any reason.
"We want to make the customer happy, but we remove a tile floor and replace it with vinyl. The doorjams were precut to tile, so the space gap between new floor + jam can be filled with clauk. The day I was suppose to stop by to look at the issues, I had a family member go into the E.R. My focus was on that and I forgot about her issue. She slip through my datebook."
John's flooring teams arrived on time, worked diligently, and left behind a professional job. All of the floors look fabulous and are a breeze to maintain. The transitions between rooms are seamless (no unsightly transition risers at bedroom thresholds like in the original flooring). The house looks better than it ever did!
John personally supervised every detail. At every stage he demonstrated his desire to go above and beyond. In addition to being prompt, courteous, knowledgeable, and professional, John treats customers like family, and he cares about your satisfaction with the job. He's also willing to help out in other ways. He was instrumental in getting the insurance claims processed promptly, and he helped locate other contractors to do the non-flooring renovations when I had trouble finding ones that could start right away.
I would use Bellus Flooring again in a heartbeat. In fact I plan to do just that when I update the bathrooms next time around. :)
