I was given a quote and told that this job would take 3-4 days from start to finish. The job started mid September, 2009 and was completed on October 13, 2009. I have a large custom built kitchen with lots of counter space. They layed the new tile over the existing tile which was a major concern for me however, I was reassured that this was common practice. The plan was to tile the counters and backsplashes and put a wood trim around the outer edges. They were not consistent on timing. They would say they'd be here at a certain time and either show up hours late or not at all (without a phone call). They did not prep the kitchen or family room ie: they never put down drop cloths or covered cabinets, furniture, etc. The tile was cut jagged, the trim was horrible and there was grout and caulk over everything.....paint, cabinets, floors, doors, etc. The tiles were terribly uneven and when they put the cooktop and sink back in, they didn't do it correctly and they were loose. The grout lines were inconsistent and the grout wasn't done right. There were places (a lot of them) that you couldn't even tell there was grout. They would go outside with the wet saw to cut the tile and walk in my house on my week old carpet. The frustration of having this job take over 30 days and having my house torn apart has been a nightmare! It has also tripled my cost to hire another contractor in here to start all over again. In doing so, we found that they did a terrible job on a shelf I have above my kitchen sink. After they were finished I couldn't close my custom blinds. Their answer was to cut my blinds which I now have to replace. Also, after pulling the tile off of the custom built entertianment center we realized they "butchered" the pieces that were there for stability. I now not only have to pay someone else to fix my kitchen but, my blinds and entertainment center. I paid these people in full on "good faith" and have spoken with them about my dissapointment. Over 2 weeks ago, I was told he would reimburse me in full. I have not heard a word from him. I had three new contractors in here to look at the job and was told by every one of them that it was the worst job they have ever seen and that I should "turn them in" so that this won't happen to anyone else.
Description of Work: The job was to retile my entire kitchen countertops and backsplashes. Also, retile the top of my entertainment center
