9/29/24 Harry Stein (Stein Solutions) I hope this isnâ t too lengthy, but Harry Stein is so good, he deserves a comprehensive review. Iâ ve been working with Mr. Stein over the phone and on my PC for about 16 years, and he has many times â worked miraclesâ for me. When friends or relatives complain about their PC problems, I tell them about my â computer guruâ who lives in Texas, who I have never met personally, but with whom Iâ ve talked many many times. The following are ways he has helped me, at a very reasonable cost, for which I am very grateful. 1. Mr. Steinâ s training and experience as a forensics sleuth literally combating criminals have made him knowledgeable about all things PC. For example: a. He shares the history of this or that company. (Heâ s been around a while!) b. He clearly names the company that is best at this or that, as well as the â bad guysâ out there who are not really operating with the customer as priority #1 (over $ and the bottom line). As he says, â The bad guys are always ahead of the good guys.â c. He is able and willing to investigate specific companies and vet them for me as to reliability as â trusted publishersâ of software and other business practices. 2. He has helped me with numerous problems Iâ ve had (and still do have) with my primary email provider, sbcglobal.net. For example: a. He t aught me a workaround to start it up when it would fail to boot. b. He can look at highly detailed documentation in different programs to see exactly when specific problems occurred (like crashes), and he figures out why they happened. And then he fixes the problem. c. He keeps a detailed record of the work he has done on my computer and often goes back in his record (which he simultaneously shows me on computer) to see exactly what the previous problem was and what he did to fix it. d. He knows the history of this and many other companies, and knows where the â good guysâ work and where the â bad guysâ work. 3. He has taught me the basics of Gmail, which I started using with my clients because itâ s so much more reliable than my outdated and inept sbcglobal.net program. a. I have a sheet with 20 suggestions he gave me in one session about Gmail (and more sheets with additional suggestions). b. He sends me emails with step-by-step advice on specific problems, complete with screen shots of computer screens with individual items circled and arrows drawn to show where things are or where they should go. 4. He gets on my computer only with my permission to work his magic (which I can watch while he does it if I want to). a. So, if I have time, itâ s fun to watch him do stuff I couldnâ t possibly understand, much less do, myself b. He doesnâ t get distracted by other stuff on my computer or â nose aroundâ in stuff that is really my private business. c. He is very principled, trustworthy, honest, and open. d. He keeps meticulous notes about everything he does in a session on any given date. e. He remembers a ton of details about what he did the last time (weeks or months ago) that he was on my computer. f. He checks his notes to refresh his memory about what he did a year or two or three ago. 5. He vetted and then helped me buy a tower computer for my desk top at a bargain price on Ebay of all places! 6. When billing he gives me a detailed breakdown of everything he did. 7. One time, when I made a mistake and got snookered into a payment of several hundred dollars, he investigated the (fraudulent) company and helped me work my way out of a jam. 8. Did I mention my cell phone problems? I am no techie, and I have an Android phone. Heâ s helped me with a number of issues that have come up there, too. 9. His fee is very fair. Take it from an experienced customer of his, you wonâ t go wrong with Harry Stein and Stein Solutions!
