Sam let us know ahead of time how much it would cost. When a problem came up he had solutions and explained any changes to the cost and made sure we were in agreement. He also hires only folks he trusts.

Sam's Handyman Services Plus was paid a total of $10,550 and here is how the project has gone as of 4/7/18. 1. Demolished kitchen bar cabinets and existing small island. 2. Built a 4 X 7 kitchen island with drawers and doors with exterior/roofing plywood. (we provided 8 cabinet grade drawers) 2. Painted existing kitchen cabinets (excellent job by Chris Howell) 3. Installed 4 can lights that hang below the ceiling level (one can and kit that we paid for the material that Chris told me he needed and Sam refused to reimburse me) 4. Raised the dining room fir to cabinet height, instead of ceiling height 2" higher, because he never bothered to go into the attic to verify the wall wasn't load bearing. Only after his worker hit the beam while cutting through the sheet rock did we find out. By then it was too late because Sam told us he was going to charge us more to repair the fir and walls. The bottom of the walls were not finished to the floor. When I brought up replacing the baseboard that was removed, I was told it was not in the ?scope of work?. Plus, we paid for the paint and 2 rolls of painters tape and he is refusing to reimburse us . On Monday 4/2, Sam came to discuss our dissatisfaction with the island. While at our house, he was told our appliances would be delivered on Wednesday 4/4 and our granite countertops would be installed on Thursday 4/5. On Tuesday, I called Sam to remind him the appliances were scheduled for delivery so he could have someone install them per the ?scope of work? and received no response. On Wednesday I tried to call, he called me back 10:00 am and Sam told me he couldn't have someone just wait for the appliances to arrive. If all that was left to do was hook up the appliances, I would understand completely but the following things still needed to be done: 1. Fix Island 2. Fix the end cap where the Demo'd peninsula had been. 3. Repair floor tile and laminate 4. Backsplash 5. Adjust over head lights 6. Add pulls to drawers and doors on the Island 7. Adjust crooked pulls on cabinets, drawers and doors in the rest of the kitchen 6.Paint under our oven 7. Touch up paint in throughout kitchen and dining room. On Thursday, I was contacted by Sam about installing the appliances. I told him I would have to get back to him because the granite countertops were being installed. Ironically, after identifying our dissatisfaction and advising Sam he had been paid in full out of good faith and that we no longer trusted him to provide quality services, we received an invoice for $2050 for additional services. My husband and I requested an item by item cost breakdown for the items we paid for on the original bid so we could see what we paid for each item exactly. We have yet to receive it. All we received was a cost for the items not completed that total $1150. He subtracted $1150 from the $2050 and added $400 to haul away the debris from our house after

I really appreciated Sam's timely responses to my texts and calls. He always took notes when we walked through the project to be sure we were on the same page.
