Hugh was professional, on time, and responsive. He performed above and beyond what was asked, including additional texture work that was needed which we hadn't noticed.
Description of Work: Sheetrock, texture, painting, wood-working, miscellaneous
Called povider and he eventually got around to stating he was to busy to take my call said he would call me back. He did not. Sent msg through angie's list if he forgot me. No reply. Seems like if he's eating well, getting enough jobs he doesn't bother to call others back. Would not recommend or use in the future.

This is the fourth time I have hired Hugh in the past few years. He is exceptional and does exceptional work. You can always count on him for punctuality, quality work, high work ethnic, finishes on time, finished product is always perfect. He is great to work with, and I recommend him to everyone I know. When it comes to home repair and remodeling, he can do it all with the best quality anywhere.
Description of Work: I needed to remodel a bedroom in a beach house. This remodel required installing quality beadboard 2/3's up the wall and painting it.
Excellent finished product! The list of materials he gave me was accurate and exact. The work area was cleaned up each day when he left and there was clear communication during the entire project. I work during the days, so he had access to my home most days without me there. He was completely trustworthy and honest. Easy to work with and kept me updated on the progress and any issues that arose. We were working with old plumbing, so of course, I needed to call in a plumber. He's honest enough to say when something is not his specialty. I found that very refreshing. I would definitely use him again!
Description of Work: Renovated bathroom. Installed tile for shower, textured walls, replaced fixtures and toilet. Tiled floors in 2 bedrooms and replaced floor trim.

Hugh got our information, and submitted a professional and complete bid in a prompt time line. He met for planning sessions with Dental Suppliers to make sure he could fulfill his commitment. Hugh always arrived on time, and did the work that was planned for the day, if possible (We appreciated his planning). Hugh and his crew thought the process through before starting the day. He would let me know what the next workday was going to involve, so that we could plan if necessary. He helped with all preparations and moving things around & especially when a project was going to be intensive (removing a major wall). He was flexible with the many changes that were required of any remodel, and yet always stayed on or ahead of schedule. He was prepared with proper tools and came through with supplies necessary to get the job done. He insisted on qualified plumbers & electricians to do their part. When obstacles arose, Hugh would immediately consult us and we'd brainstorm to solve the issue. He made suggestions to save time and money without compromising the project. He stayed in a routine that we could depend on. That is a "pet peeve" we have with contractors. Hugh's routine made us feel confident that the project would finish on time, on budget, and that the remodel was flexible enough to result in the final product we needed. Hugh is a positive, happy person who laughs a lot while working. He put the other contractors at ease, and kept us all looking at the bright side. He motivated his crew to do their best. He was diligent in giving us invoices that were complete and correct throughout. He even rescheduled his new project when we told him we needed him to be there when the equipment arrived. He had to spend that day correcting designer's mistakes and reworking a ceiling support to keep us on schedule. Amazingly, he was positive throughout the "mishap" and kept us calm. Who wouldn't want a contractor like Hugh? My concern is that he is a busy guy, and can only do so much. I like that he keeps his life balanced so he doesn't burn out( I'm a work-a-holic/ perfectionist). His routine and sense of humor as well as precise planning, showed me a better way to take on these big projects. Thank you for letting me share our success story with my new forever contractor, Hugh Morren!
Description of Work: We needed a qualified contractor that would remodel our dental office during the times we were closed, or when no patients were in the office. The job required tearing out old floors, existing walls & shelving, building new offices & treatment rooms, following specs on a blueprint {and reconfiguring when instructions were incorrect}, replacing doorways, adding sheetrock, and a barn style door, repurposing old shelving, reconfiguring a bathroom, replacing baseboards, removing a kitchen sink & cabinets, and installing staff kitchen counters & cabinets. Hugh also built 'dental specific' wall & equipment supports. One major factor was that the project must be kept very clean in the clinical environment. We would not compromise on that requirement. They were creative in figuring out ways to vacuum and saw or make messy cuts at the same time! We had a deadline, and little time for mistakes. Our needs were not always standard or residential. We needed our contractors to work together as a team to succeed.

Let me first say that Hugh is Service-minded. I've read his negative feedback and I did not have these experiences. I believe that many customers have an "I need the best job at the lowest price...and I need it right now." Look, I get it that people need their work done ASAP, but I can assure you, if a provider is excellent he/she will be booked weeks out. Hugh is this person: Excellent. If he can fit you in earlier, he will. But he will not do average work, and certainly not mediocre! So, Hugh is dependable and a craftsman. Is he the cheapest? I don't know, probably not. If you want cheap, then you want average or mediocre quality. If you want great fit, finish, quality work, Hugh Morren is your man!
Description of Work: Hugh caulked and painted the trim and finish work for my crown molding. The previous installer did not do a very good job painting it at all. It was really sad to look at. Hugh also repaired my walls that the granite installers damaged. He will be creating a backyard pergola foe me this fall. Hugh does great work!

We were in a very tight time crunch and Hugh was able to fit us into his schedule even though he got sick and was delayed a couple of days. My husband ended up putting in about 10 hours of work with Hugh and after hours and we are somewhat disappointed that we didn't get a discount due to this, but are satisfied nevertheless. We had to leave on a previously scheduled vacation, so haven't yet painted the room to see the finished project, but have faith that it will look as great as Hugh promises!

I contacted Mr. Morin on weekend of May 23 and 24th. I believe it was the following Monday or Tuesday that I recieived a call back, which I was very happy about. I briefed him on what I wanted done and set-up a meeting for the next day. I left my job and came home to meet for our appt and he never showed, never called. I went back to work and texted him asking him if he was going to be able to stop by.His respone was that he was going to be stuck in Portland all day. I told him it would probably be best if he contacted me before coming to see if I am available. I told him I could usually break away from work to come home to meet him. His reply, "ok". I thought surely i would here from him in the next few days. I never heard back until I contacted him on June 2 to see if we were going to be able to reschedule a meeting or do I need to continue looking for a contractor. I thought maybe he wasn't interested or very busy. He told me he had strep throat and was behind on his schedule. I said no problem and I went over scope of work with him again that I wanted done, he said he would see if he could make it over here next week which would have been during week of June 8th. I told him that sounds good to me. I think that I went out of my way and he didn't even initiate a call or text beyond that first call back to me. I was the one trying to find out do I need to move on, is he even interested. I am under the impression that he does not need the business. If you are in business you need to return calls, if you are too busy or not interested let me know. This is my second experience contacting a contractor and they don't calll back or follow up, and they were highly recommended as Mr. Morin. I will take my business elsewhere, I am just sorry I kept trying.
Description of Work: He did nothing. He did not make the scheduled meeting or bother to call and let me know he was not going to be able to make it.

I contacted Hugh in July of 2014 to get a bid to do my kitchen remodel. He got back to me promptly and told me he would get with me in a couple of weeks to come see what I needed to have done. Then called and few weeks after that to tell me he was tied up on a job and would not be able to start work on my kitchen until January 2015. I told him I could wait until then. Never heard another word so I sent him a message through Angie's List the week between Christmas and New Years. He came that week and looked at what needed to be done and told me he would have his cabinet maker come the next week and take measurements and discuss with me what I wanted. Also, he told me that it would be the middle of March before he could start on my project. That week went by and not a word. The next week Hugh called and told me his cabinet man was not returning his calls and he would keep trying to contact him and would get him over the next week. So I gave it another week...still nothing so I gave up and called another contractor. I still have not heard from Hugh or his cabinet man and it's January 20th. Today I sent him a message via Angie's List to tell him I would not be needing his services. I cannot tell you about his price or quality of work since he didn't find my kitchen remodel important enough for him. I can tell you that his professionalism, punctuality and responsiveness definitely do not meet my standards for a contractor. And, I'm pleased to tell you that my kitchen remodel is finally scheduled for the middle of March with my new contractor.

Wow!! Hugh is such a pleasure to work with. He walked through the whole process with us and made sure we were happy every step of the way. He was always available when we called and was very professional. We felt comfortable enough with him to leave him alone to work during the day while we were at work. Just a great overall experience! We will be using him again to remodel our bathrooms and paint the rest of our house.

Hugh was very cordial at first... he was definitely putting his best foot forward and seemed to want the job. I asked him about one of the extremely negative reviews I had seen on Angie's List about him and he told me that the woman was a problem personality, unreasonable and obviously had mental problems. [That is very close to an exact quote.] Since my background is in Litigation... his commentary and bashing of this past customer did raise a red flag for me and I thought... I wonder if he's says this about everyone who finds a problem with his work. It is not appropriate to bash a past customer because they found a problem with him or his work. I found his negative remarks very unprofessional! [The stated facts are all that are necessary.] The entire time Hugh spoke as though he would be the one doing the work and indicated that he was readily available to start the work and that it would not take him long to get it done. He also resided close to our home which we thought at the time was a plus for him being able to get the work done quickly as he had indicated. Well, after we had made the agreement and given him the job... all of his promises and commitments went by the way side. Suddenly, he was busy everywhere else and wanting to put us on the back burner. One of the jobs was w/ a toilet in a bathroom and it was ... urgent... after some pushing on my part... Hugh did get out and take care of that himself. He gave a verbal quote to my Dad on an added project and when I talked to him about setting up a time for it to be done he raised the amount of the quote... I called him on it and he said oh yeah... that's right. We got the distinct feeling that after he had given us a work date... he took on other jobs that meant more profit to him and those got taken care of first. After that we were always told that he was busy with other jobs... and that we would have to wait for his brother-in-law to get into town to help finish the other work on our place. The opposite of his initial representations to us! As I recall, a week or more went by waiting for the brother-in-law to get into town to continue our projects. They showed up late morning often and took long lunch hours always. The work went slowly. A couple of times he pulled his brother-in-law off our job allegedly he had to put him on something else. During this time Hugh became verbally abrupt with me to the point where I thought seriously about just ending the business relationship. This drug out... I had a heart-attack and had to go for medical therapy... so I told him we would go ahead and divide the projects in half and the rest could be finished when I got back. Since we were having to wait on his other commitments anyway. I told him that I would be back on May 15th and asked... would he be able to finish our projects at that time and he said yes. I e-mailed him a confirmation that I was in fact going to be back from Medical Therapy on the 15th of May and again asked him if he would have his brother-in-law out to complete the work on our property by May 15th. I received a reply e-mail where he said yes he would have his brother-in-law there by Mid-May. [With a background in law - I customarily keep all written communications - e-mail or otherwise.] So I possess this confirmation e-mail from him as proof of same. I called him 3 times trying to confirm that he would have his brother-in-law out the next week - I never received the decency of a return call. I then sent e-mails... and finally he e-mails me back a ... rude note ... stating that they were not going to wait for us! And that he had sent to his brother-in-law to work somewhere else! I was floored! Wait on US!! ... All the waiting that had been done was us waiting on him while he never kept his word with us on anything. His note was aggressively insulting and rude and I have it too. I believe that Hugh felt he could get away with bullying us because my Dad is elderly and fragile and I am a Widow who has had a heart attack... to Hugh we were perfect victims! I bet he does not act like this when there is a healthy male involved as with most husbands and wife situations. And I know he certainly would not have treated my Husband this way if he were alive! This was obviously not the first lie Hugh had told us - everything he promised us in the initial interview with him turned out to be lies! He never kept his word or his representations and now I know 100% why the other lady left her negative review on him. Believe me she is not the one w/ the mental problem. Because of my background in law I am trained in personality/gender profiling... I also believe that Hugh gets his personal friends to leave reviews on Angie's List for him... the very first review at the top of the review list that I read today is allegedly written by a man... yet the statement is made in it... My wife finds Hugh a "JOY" .... this sentence is not something a man would say. It is female language... next... at the end of this same review the reviewer who is allegedly a man and a neutral customer makes a veiled threat to other reviewers who might file a negative review... that if anyone finds fault with Hugh they had better look in the mirror! This is clearly NOT a statement a normal - customer - w/o personal attachments like friendship or a relative would say. There is no reason on earth why a regular customer leaving a legitmate review would feel the need to be threatening towards other customers of Hugh's who may of had a bad experience with Hugh. I believe this is a "Shill" review. If there is one Shill you can bet there are more! Our experience with Hugh turned out to be a very negative one. cus ore

This was merely a scheduling issue, we needed to start on either her job or on another job she wasn't ready the week before so we started on the other job. I had found a solution to the problem for her handyman work, we had a guy to work on that job two days after the 15th but she totally misunderstood what i was trying to do and blew up. I apologized but she couldn't accept my apology.

Well when I finished with the plumber and got that repair completed, my first call was to Hugh. He has done some work for me before and I wouldn't even consider using anyone else. I was glad he was not too busy to fit me in and he showed up on time as usual. I went over the scope of the job with him and he said he would draw up a contract. I told him not to bother, that we didn't need a contract, a handshake would do. Ours is a custom home and my wife is very particular about everything. She loved his work and Hugh is a joy to work with. Anyone who has a problem with Hugh Morren needs to check the mirror. Another satisfied Hugh Morren customer.

Hugh hired his brother-in-law to work for him on part of my job! I have never had someone work like this before. He was so sloppy and had paint on everything. This place is a very nice townhouse that I rent furnished! It was empty at the time of the work! He had used my vacumn cleaner and had paint all over it. Didn't bother to clean it! Used my townhouse like he lived there. Used my other bathrooms for his daily bowl movements. I would check on things after each days work and he would lay things on my clean bedding etc.! He used bleach on walls and then set bleach bottles or tools on the bedroom carpet and left a fifty cent size spots on the carpet Hugh says he works for him parttime but he had no business hiring this guy for any part of the work. I could go on and on but I would NEVER NEVER hire this company to do ANYTHING for me again. Did I tell you he is SLOPPY SLOPPY SLOPPY! NO I would NEVER hire this man again!

My last communication from Jason Terry advised that he would finish repairing the patio tile "at his convenience." He has not found it convenient for several months, and Mr. Morren seems totally unconcerned. This story could go on and on, but suffice it to say that Mr. Morren's work for me was characterized by high prices (his own workers told me that he was marking up their work by as much as 40%), incompetency, delay and failure to take responsibility for mistakes and poor quality workmanship. Although Mr. Morren was cordial to me when he bid the job and was paid to begin, once the first problem with the location of the fence arose, his attitude became rude and confrontational (as observed by a visitor to my house who was concerned about leaving while Mr. Morren was getting in my face and yelling at me), and has now degenerated even further into blaming anything and anyone he can in order to get out of the legitimate follow up work that needs to be done. Mr. Morren was not licensed to do the work he did at my house, he did not post the bond required by the City of Port Aransas, he charged me for a building permit that was not required and that he did not and could not obtain, he has blamed mother nature and another very well respected company for the problems with his work, he has failed to even come to my property to observe the issues that exist, and he has now refused to communicate with me further. Beware! REBUTTAL TO PROVIDER RESPONSE: Morren?s response? We have tried to work with [member name removed] but had became very difficult to deal with. First of all we had done our investigation and noticed that there was large equipment all around the area of the fence where it was buckled. The fence had been impacted and she choose to get us to fix the fence for free instead confronting the large contractor that ran into the fence. She also made up lies about things we did to get free work out of us. We just could not continuing to go over there and work for free. We had to draw the line somewhere. My response?PLEASE ADD THIS DIRECTLY UNDER MR. MORREN?S RESPONSE SO IT CAN BE SEEN BY ANYONE READING THIS REVIEW?ALSO PLEASE POST THE PHOTOS I AM ATTACHING It seems hardly necessary to respond to such a rude and accusatory response by Mr. Morren?it shows on its face Mr. Morren?s character and the manner in which he deals with problems concerning his work. It bears remarkable similarity to his last response to someone else rating him with an F on Angie?s List?even though he missed an appointment with the person and she hired someone else, he states ?she probably would be a very difficult person to work for.? The only ?difficulties? between me and Mr. Morren arose because of poor quality work and long delays in responding to problems. His assertion that he performed some sort of ?investigation? into the problems with the fence seems unlikely, since both he and his worker Jason Terry immediately responded to my text message regarding the problem by blaming it on someone else. He has never submitted any photo or other evidence of any kind indicating that anything other than poor workmanship was responsible for the problem with the fence that I paid them over $11,000 to construct. His assertion that I did not confront the ?large contractor? that was working next door is hard to understand. As is stated in my review of Mr. Morren, I contacted them about the problem, and they told me about their photo documentation of the fence beginning to lean in late January at the time of the first cold front when they were not working anywhere nearby. At my request, the foreman on the job contacted Mr. Morren and told him about this documentation and confirmed that they had not touched the fence. This is substantiated by photos taken by me after I noticed the problem and by the observations of numerous people?there is not a dent or a scratch on the fence indicating any kind of contact with it by a piece of equipment. Mr. Morren?s assertion that I ?made up lies about things we did to get free work out of us? is ludicrous. I paid Mr. Morren and his workers approximately $20,000 for the work at my house, and I paid everything they asked to be paid when they asked for payment. There are numerous witnesses other than me to the problems with Mr. Morren?s work at my house. The City of Port Aransas has confirmed (and would confirm to anyone who asked them) that he was not even licensed to do contracting work in Port Aransas at the time he did $20,000 of work on my house and that he never obtained a building permit for the fence he constructed, despite the fact that he charged me $150 for it as a line item. The building officials were also astounded when I told them that Mr. Morren was blaming Island Construction, and stated that they had a hard time believing that Island Construction would ever fail to take responsibility for a problem they caused?it is not consistent with the history on that company. I now have a fence that is seriously leaning and a patio that is a mess. I am attaching photos of the patio?both the section unaffected by Mr. Morren, and the one affected by Mr. Morren and abandoned by him. Please note that in order to get out of fixing the mess his worker created on the patio, he contended that my entire patio was damaged and in need of repair due to rain falling on it over the years. The photos tell the story. As a final note, I have noticed that all of the great reviews Mr. Morren has had on Angie?s List appear to involve small handyman jobs for amounts less than $3000, usually much less than that. Perhaps he is capable of this type of work. But if there is any problem, you can probably rest assured that you too will be placed by him in that category of ?difficult to work with.? He does not stand behind his work, and instead is willing to call you a liar on Angie?s List! Beware! UPDATE: I have now completed repairing at least the major mistakes made by Hugh Morren in the work he did at my house. I had to hire a fence company to repair the fence he built and charged me $11,000 for. They said that he did not use big enough pilings and did not sink the pilings deep enough into the ground. Mr. Morren claimed that this fence started leaning after just a few months because it was hit by equipment from the other side. Numerous inspectors have agreed that this was not the case, and the fence company confirmed that there was absolutely no evidence that the fence had been hit by anything. I had to hire a contractor to repair the tile floor Hugh Morren installed in my kitchen--after just a few months the grout was cracking in several places. I also had to redo the shower that Hugh Morren recaulked--after just a few months there was mildew coming from under the caulking he applied and the new contractor said that there were large voids left behind the caulking when Hugh Morren did it. My patio tile that he left in a huge mess remains unresolved, as this is all costing a lot to repair, but will need to be done eventually. Mr. Morren walked away from all of the problems with the work he did at my house without even an offer to correct them himself, and has since reportedly told another unhappy customer on Angie's List that I am mentally unbalanced! Mr. Morren was paid in full for the work he did at my house, then refused to correct deficiencies and ultimately decided that this best option was to call me names on Angie's List! He parted ways with the lead person on my job while it was ongoing and is apparently not working with the other one either--yet he took no responsibility for the many problems caused by these guys. If you have a low dollar handyman repair to be done, then maybe Hugh is your man (that is what almost all of the positive reviews seem to pertain to)--if you have more significant work to be accomplished and expect quality workmanship and honest follow-up, keep looking.
Description of Work: Build a 8' privacy fence around a portion of my property Removal of an existing tile floor and sub-floor and re-tile same area with new tile Several miscellaneous small jobs such as replacing two storm doors, installing cabinets in laundry room. My experience with Hugh Morren and his sub-contractor Jason Terry, was and remains a nightmare! The first project that Mr. Morren bid on at my home in Port Aransas was to build a privacy fence around a portion of my property. I met with him and showed him and his sub-contractors, Jason Terry and Clay Vollers, the corner stakes marking the boundaries and described what I wanted done. I also told him that I wanted to make sure it was anchored well because of the wind it would be exposed to. He assured me that he could do the work and that my fence would be rock solid. His proposal detailed the materials to be used and included a $150 charge for a building permit. I accepted his proposal and paid him the first draw of $8000 on August 23, 2013. Work began shortly thereafter. Upon inspection of the installed fence, I noticed that the section on the northeast side of my property appeared to be on the wrong side of the property line. I could not precisely determine where all of the corners were because his workers had removed the survey stakes, even though I had asked them to leave them in place. I had to have my property re-surveyed to re-establish the corners. Mr. Morren declined to pay for this. He initially tried to blame the mislocation of the fence on me, saying that I had not shown them the correct corner on one side. After the survey, however, it became known that not only was this side of the fence over the line on my neighbor's property, but that another side also was. His worker, Clay Vollers, ultimately admitted that he used the wrong marker on the northeast section, but there was no explanation for the other section other than carelessness. His workers relocated the two sides of the fence that were over the line, and I paid Mr. Morren the balance owing of $3,310.00 under his proposal (total of $11, 310.00) upon completion of the work on September 18, 2013. In early April of 2014--just a little over six months after the fence was completed--the wind blew about 20 miles per hour sustained for a couple of days from the northeast, and I noticed that the fence on that side (one of the ones that had been relocated) was leaning over into my property and looked like it might fall over. I jointly contacted both Mr. Morren and his worker Jason Terry, and sent them a photo and asked that they stand it up and reinforce it. Without even bothering to come and look at the fence, they both claimed that it had been hit by a piece of construction equipment from the other side and refused to fix it without being paid to do so. There was a construction project in progress on the other side; however, I carefully examined the other side of the fence and did not find even a scratch or dent of any kind indicating that it had been hit. It was obvious that they had stayed away from the fence with their dirt work, as evidenced by the untouched vegetation line next to the fence on that side. Furthermore, this happened on a weekend when there was no one working on the other side of the fence. Additionally, the company working on the other side (Island Construction) is the oldest and largest construction company in Port Aransas which builds most of the roads and streets here and has a very solid reputation. I sincerely wish that they had been the ones responsible because I know they would have immediately advised me of the damage and taken prompt action to fix it. I had a friend who is an independent insurance adjuster look at the fence, as well as my son, and all agreed that the wind and not a piece of equipment had done the damage. There was simply no evidence otherwise. After Mr. Morren's refusal to take responsibility (STILL, WITHOUT EVEN BOTHERING TO LOOK AT IT), I called Island Construction and spoke to the foreman on the job. He advised that they had actually noticed the fence on that side starting to lean toward my property at the time of the first cold front at the end of January 2014 (only four months after completion). The more severe leaning that I later noticed was just a continuation of the problem. They were not working anywhere near the fence when they first noticed it, but the owner of the company was present and told the foreman to take photos just in case an issue arose later. The foreman said he would call Mr. Morren and explain what they had observed in January and confirm that they had not touched the fence with any equipment. He told me the next day that Mr. Morren (who still had not bothered to come out and even look at the fence) refused to believe him and stated that he built the fence to withstand a hurricane. This was despite the fact that Mr. Morren never did one minute of actual work at my house and relied completely on his workers to determine how to do the work and to perform the actual work. He told me that Clay Vollers (one of the workers) could do anything and that I should address all of my concerns and communications to him. This changed during the course of the work on my house, when Mr. Morren had a falling out with Clay and then had nothing good to say about him. I became very concerned at this point about how the fence was constructed and used a level on the three sections of fence to see whether there were other problems. The one section that was visibly leaning was clearly a problem. The other section that had been relocated after being built on the wrong side of the property line was also leaning in toward my property by a few inches. The only side that did not show any leaning was the one section that had not been relocated. This raised questions as to whether the relocation of the two sections had compromised the integrity of the structure. I was now looking at an $11,000 fence only about six months old with one section on the verge of falling over, another one leaning, and a contractor (Mr. Morren) who was denying responsibility and attempting to cast blame on another company that clearly had nothing to do with it! I next talked to the City of Port Aransas about Mr. Morren. They advised that Mr. Morren was not and had not ever been licensed to work as a contractor in Port Aransas, that he had never posted the bond required of a contractor, AND that the fence project did not require a permit and that none was ever obtained! Nevertheless, Mr. Morren had charged me (and I had paid) $150 for a building permit for the fence! The fact is that even if one was required, he could not have obtained it because he was not licensed to work as a contractor in Port Aransas. That is the saga of the fence as it stands today. There will be more to tell, as I still have to get the fence standing back up and reinforced, and am not sure how that is going to be done at this time. There were many other problems with the work performed by Mr. Morren's crew at my house. I believe it is safe to say that there were problems with almost every item of work performed, most of which were ultimately fixed, but some of which still remain. Without writing a book here about all of the issues, I will point out the one other major problem that remains to be rectified and that Mr. Morren has failed to correct after many months of my requests. That is the patio tile at my house. The problem arose when the workers cut the tile and mixed the mortar for the upstairs tile replacement job on the upstairs deck, with the liquids and debris dripping down onto my tile patio below. Instead of cleaning the mess on the lower patio up at the time it was created, his workers left the job sight and allowed it to dry for over a week. The residue hardened on the patio tile. When Jason Terry finally came back to address the problem, he applied acid to remove the hardened residue. It eroded the grout joints (which I believe were concrete) and deeply pitted them. He then came back, dug out the joints and replaced them with a colored grout, which was obviously not right. He then removed that and replaced it with concrete grout, but then left the project unfinished and a big mess. Since then, in response to my pleas that the work be completed, Mr. Morren has claimed that they did no damage to my patio tile and that the pitting was the result of rain over the years! The problem with that theory is that the other side of my patio is in fine condition with no pitting. Once again, Mr. Morren never bothered to come and look at this himself. He started making crazy claims that this was a pre-existing condition without ever making a personal inspection!

Asked for an estimate on replacing shower and bath hardware. Turns out it was a simple fix with replacement hardware. He let us know where we could buy replacement handles and my husband could put them on with a turn of wrench. A very honest person and that is hard to find these days!
Description of Work: I ask for an estimate on replacing shower handles and hardware. Turns out I only needed replacement parts. He was honest enough to tell us that and where to find the parts. Amazing and refreshing. He could have replaced it all and charged us, but gave honest advice. We are going to need a bathroom remodel in the near future and will most definately use him. True professional.

First of all, this is the only company that required a fee to come do a bid for a job. I have had various people come in for bids on leveling my house, laying floor titles, and new kitchen cabinets, One bidder even came in all the way from San Antonio and did not even charge for mileage. Not one asked for a fee upfront. Second, I found Mr. Morren attitude a bit boastful. Thirdly, he was planning on taking a short cut on my kitchen wall. I wanted the wall paper removed and the wall retextured and painted. He wanted to texture and paint over the wall paper! Even I know that is not a good idea. He was planning on using flat paint on my walls--good thing I asked about the type of paint. I did not use this person. Oh yes, one last thing.

This is a main wall in my home and had they not done a good job, I would have needed to repaint the entire first level of my home, so that it would all match. These gentlemen dry walled, textured, and painted -- and the wall looks perfect now. In addition, they made several small repairs throughout for my home for me while they were there. They were professional, knowledgeable, and completely trustworthy. They have promised to come back and do more work for me!
Description of Work: They repaired my front room wall - where we had to cut in to fix a water leak.

My initial call to Mr. Morren was very pleasant. He was very personable on the phone and appeared eager to discuss specifics and details of our bathroom remodel. He indicated he was interested in providing a quote for our project. We discussed the scope of work and he let me know that he would not be able to start work on my project for at least 6 weeks in order to complete a current project he was working on. I told him that was fine and fit our work schedule as well. He asked that I send my name and address in a text message to his phone (which I did...) and we set an appointment for him to come to our home so he could assess the work required and provide a quote. Our phone conversation was detailed and I was encouraged by his interest and seemingly enthusiastic persona. One additional text between us was exchanged regarding time and date of appointment. Needless to say, I was a little surprised he did not show as we had agreed. I am a very fair person, I understand things happen...all he had to do is call or text if he needed to change our appointment time. Not professional. **Edit** Mr. Morren contacted me via text message after this review was posted. Said he had experienced trouble with his cell phone and had been unable to contact me. I have however made arrangements with other contractors for our work.

As explained to my cell phone had got wet and i lost the contact information from her. It took a couple of days for me to get a new phone. when I received my phone I was able to contact to her. She apparently is not very understanding to my phone issues. That is the first time that has happen to me. Everything happens for a reason. She probably would be a very difficult person to work for.
