"Many Thanks (removed member name). I enjoyed working for you."
"Many thanks [member name removed]. I've enjoyed working for you and [member information removed] all these years."
"How odd that he gave me a wordless bad review. He just called me a couple of weeks ago asking me to bid on doing another bathroom in his house because he was so pleased with the work we did. And, all of the painting and repairs in his laundry room that his dogs destroyed. I told him I was busy with many backed up jobs. Perhaps he feels slighted? Still, no reason to provide a baseless review. Heck, I even provided him additional work for FREE the last time. I should have expected this as he did nothing but complain about his past contractors and that's a red flag . I have too many GREAT customers that have used me for years because they know that my work is the best and provided at a fair price."
"Thanks for the review. It was a pleasure working with you."
"One of my best customer's ever! Like a men's store TV pitchman exclaimed.. "An educated consumer is our best customer"."
"Yes, you purchased a Handyman for a day deal for $199. That is defined as one person for 8 hours or two people for 4 hours. There were two of us at your house so you got exactly what you paid for. The customer also has to provide all the materials. I recall we had to go to Lowes to purchase materials. Could that be part of the $75 paid?? Alas, you did provide some store credit coupons too (wedding presents). Missing from the review was the quality of work performed. If I recall, we did a beautiful job and turned an absolute mess into a professional and beautiful job. About that extra doorway... You neglected to inform us that you wanted it done when you reviewed the work that you would like performed. And yes, your time was up (4 hours with two people) so of course I asked to be paid for my extra time. So, I scheduled your work in a timely fashion, showed up on time on a Saturday to fit your work schedule, did beautiful and professional work, used some of my own materials for free (caulk, nails etc.) and even went to the store to buy missing materials. I also informed you the specifics of the Handyman for a day deal when we spoke by telephone prior to coming out and while we were there and in no way thought there was an argument about anything. You got a $500 job done for a total of about $250. Your review is erroneous and misleading on many levels. It's been four months since we did the work. Perhaps too much time has passed to allow for little details like correct facts."
"This member called me a few days before her coupon expired. I scheduled it that coming Saturday. I called her the same day she called but in the evening. Well, I did find out after we spoke that evening that she called my cell phone, my house, sent an email to my web site, an email directly to me and another email through Angies list. I guess she was frantic not being able to connect immediately after waiting for 6 months and that's why I got a responsiveness grade of "C". We did a whole slew of things. In fact, I stayed 30 minutes later than I was supposed to.... for FREE. I'm surprised the curtain was different on one side as I was supervised by the customer and her mother the whole time. How could that be? I know it was the exact height and distance from the window on both sides. But she did change her mind on the placement three times. And yes, I think the color of the drapes are fine. Really."
"Nice lady. You can tell she did and does a good job raising her kids. Her Penne pasta with fried onions and pancetta in an alfredo sauce was great. I've made it myself since then. But, onto the review. Perhaps too much time has gone by. We did all the chores she requested except for the light bulbs of which she had none so we both went to Walmart to buy her some. Unless she would have preferred one of us to stay and watch her cook. :) We didn't do any grout at all; but we did caulk an area in the shower that was missing grout. Caulk is usually about 1/4" wide to properly seal it but she preferred a minimal line. So, we removed it and caulked it they way she wanted it. Some areas really needed grout because it was a porous stone tile and she had no grout. This was a Handyman for a day deal and the customer has to provide the materials. Otherwise, I have to go to the store. We also were asked to change out the batteries in all the smoke detectors and found out that it was a central alarm system with no batteries at all. A prior company apparently charged the woman for replacing batteries and they didn't do a thing. The alarm system needs to be activated so the smoke alarms work. But she told be she isn't worried because her husband is an ex Army Ranger. So much for Angies List reviews. The woman told me she was happy with the work and would provide a good review. In fact, she even gave me her business card."
"Many Thanks. Our aim is to please and I'm glad we did. :)"
"Glad she gave me an "A". This is normally a $500 job. It's a small wonder it got done in 4 hours. We ran out of time and the customer told us that she would clean up after we removed the drop cloths (small amount of dust etc. on the edges). The job required the removal of the single electrical box nailed into the corner of the wall in a six inch space, and replaced with a double "new construction" electrical box that protrudes just a bit. The 150 degree attic space was located where two roofs terminate (no space) and was just about impossible to locate where the wires ran. Most electricians would cut out the wall and ceiling to do the job and tell you to call someone else to make the drywall repairs. Normally, I would caulk the edges or spackle the edges of the electrical box but the time was up and the customer didn't want to pay anything additional. But I must admit, this customer get's an "A+" for providing the correct materials."
"I got an initial call on 5/12 and called back a couple of times. The work was scheduled for 5/22. We did sheetrock repair, replaced rotten wood on the deck, fixed the gate latch, caulked the bathroom, stained and finished woodwork and installed toilet seats. That seems like a very reasonable turn around time and quite a deal for all the work we did. I'm glad it "turned out fine"."

"If you don't mind having to call me for an appointment or if I show up a few minutes early or late, I'll fix your stuff professionally at a very reasonable price. :)"
"Glad I got an A+ on the exterior door installation. Both toilets were installed perfectly and I guess I got a B because someone installed his bathroom door backwards (house not occupied) and the door hits the toilet. I think the D/F on the fan means "defective fan" and not a grade. The fan was 25 years old from another house and it doesn't work."
Showed up almost an hour late (traffic) but didn't call to let me know he was stuck in traffic -- did give me the 8 hours service though
Disappointed that they didn't bring floor trim (despite my request for him to bring it) so unable to finish the sheetrock job (which was my no. 1 priority)
"The Handyman for a day deal covers labor only. The Customer is to supply all materials. Her son went out to purchase 3 ' of baseboard and came back with chair rail. I warned him not to go a certain way as the traffic was all backed up. No grout was provided and I provided the sheetrock cement, fasteners and tape at no charge that I had on hand. Standard rates for all repairs would have cost $600 and it was done for $200.00. :)"
"This customer is a gem. She knows she got a deal on all the work. A plumber would have charged $375 to fix the broken pipe and replace the washer shut off valve and would have left a gaping hole in the wall and a mess. We also repaired her wall in addition to all the other work and cleaned up."
"Very nice woman. I came out to her house before because she wanted me to look at interior work and wanted an estimate which doesn't fall under the 50% off Handyman for a day deal but I did it anyway. But yes, we cut out her fence, installed two posts in concrete and built her a gate. I'm thrilled that she gave me an A grade for quality because it's Done Right! and that's what we do."
The first appt. had to be re-scheduled because the client before us did not have the necessary supplies on hand, which required a trip to Home Depot and made the carpenters too late for our job. The carpenters showed up for our job 2 days later as scheduled but were again running late, so had to come back the following day to complete the last job. They did however complete the two primary jobs, working quickly and professionally, before they had to leave for another appt. They returned the next morning to finish the last job.
The work done for the price was excellent.
"Great customer. I'm so happy that he understands that everything doesn't go according to plan like the customer before him that bought the wrong materials causing me to reschedule with him. Glad to hear that he likes the work we did. Hoping to hear back from this customer sometime. I have a long list of loyal customers because they know that the job will be done right."
"(deleted member name) contacted me just last week and we schedued her work on a Saturday to dovetail with her schedule. When I asked what kind of work she needed to be done she mentioned some sheetrock work and doors that needed to be fixed and, some other things. She texted me in the morning asking what she needed to provide and I said to have the materials on hand. When we arrived, we found out that she had no materials whatsoever but I'm sure she didn't know what to buy in the first place. We found the garage door to be unoperational because the part that connects the opener arm to the rail was missing and you can't just buy the part. The bi-fold doors were all forced and jambed with missing parts and bent rails. The sliding glass door had corroded and broken wheels that they are supposed to glide on. The ceiling fan has bad bearings and needs to be replaced. What most people aren't aware of is the fact that door hardware differs from manufacturer to manufacturer and is very difficult to find replacement parts. So off we went to try to find replacement parts and we went to Ace Hardware and Lowes and I bought every available part that they had that might work. Well, none of the parts would work on her sliding glass door and some of the parts for her bi-fold doors wouldn't work. So, off to Homedepot we went. Finally, they had some parts that appeared would work and they did even though they aren't the original parts. At this point, we spent 5 hours and an hour over the 4 hour window for two people for a day. The bi-fold doors are fixed, the patio door needs to be replaced if the hardware needed can't be found, the fan needs to be replaced and I still don't know what other fan needed to be "balanced" because she never showed us. The garage door needs a special part or needs to be replaced if it can't be found. The dishwasher needs a screw put in the tab under the countertop which would have taken 30 seconds but (deleted member name) was ready to call it a day. I was rather frustrated with the collection of repairs needing to be done without being provided with the parts needed before hand. Some repairs are like having a bad knee. Sometimes the doctor can repair your knee and sometimes you just need to get your knee replaced."
"Glad to hear she gave us an "A" for quality. That's what we do. I'll never, ever do another Angies List Handyman for a day because it causes an explosion of unmanageable calls all at the same time which is a recipe for problems. We're a A+ company with the Better Business Bureau for over 12 years. I hope this customer calls us back in the future to do work because I know they will be thrilled with the results."
