Budget Painting and Remodeling

I hired this contractor for exterior repainting after Harvey. He is a GREAT painter, and generally a very honest man who takes pride in his work as painter. The paint he recommended has held up very well. His workmanship as an exterior painter is outstanding. I would bet he is also exceptionally good with interior painting as well. I do recommend this contractor for painting jobs with three caveats for your consideration: 1. Price - This contractor is a little expensive. They are worth it IMHO, but if price is your #1 factor, you may want to keep shopping. 2. Painting Only - This contractor is NOT a roofer but may offer to do roofing work. (Apparently no license is required for roofers in Texas.) The contractor did attempt to make some roofing repairs in our case. This part of the engagement did not go well for either of us. Trying to resolve the issues led to several uncomfortable exchanges between us. 3. Communication – this contractor has somewhat of an accent and, at times, was hard for me to understand. More importantly, I think he had difficulty understanding me. There were several instances where I thought we had a full and verified meeting of the minds, only to find out later that we were not on the same page at all. This seemed to happen with the roofing issues more than with the painting. In summary, I probably will not hire this contractor again, and they probably don t care. The roofing issues were **** ** both of us. Having said that, I do strongly recommend the quality of this contractor’s work as a painter. My recommendation: Do consider hiring this contractor if you want high quality painting work and are willing to pay a premium price for it. Steer clear of roof repairs. Be prepare for a few the challenges if clear communications are important to you.
