Description of Work: Ok, here's the deal - We used them to replace two gas fired water heaters. Think it was done about 1-1/2 year ago and I don't remember how much it cost. Two guys......they were real nice....neat.....and professional. About two months later my wife went up to the attic and detected a slight gas odor. We contact our gas company who came right over. Well, it was a gas leak coming from a fitting going to one of heaters. We were told it never was tightened completely. Guess we were lucky in that it was a very slow leak. We never contacted them but we probably should have. Would we use them in the future? Still undecided.

Description of Work: We had a leak with our drip pan that they were able to fix on a Sunday within hours of my calling. Their technician was very professional. This is my third service with Abacus (for various things), and I have been very pleased with all of their work. They are expensive, but worth every penny!

While we don’t get many complaints, I take it very seriously when we do. I always want to be absolutely sure that every one of our potential clients are treated fairly and they feel they’re receiving great value when they call us for service. As a straight forward pricing company, you were quoted the full price before any work would begin. Why is this important? This gives you two advantages right from the start. 1. Any work that is done is done on an as needed time frame. Another words, If it takes one hour our five hours it is still the same price, if we don’t have the part you don’t pay for it to be brought out or for us to go to the supply house. Yes with over 5,000 parts on our truck, it does mean that most repairs can be done on the spot. 2. All of our work comes with a 100% satisfaction guarantee. This is our way of saying “you can’t go wrong using Abacus Plumbing”. To even further separate ourselves from the crowd we want to ensure our clients are fully aware of their costs involved with a repair and to do this we always require customer authorization before work begins. This gives you the opportunity to decide if the work being done will fit within your budget. While we are not the cheapest, I feel we are honest fair and will always do what we say we will do when we say we will do it. I hope that I have given you a little more understanding of what and how we do business. But I won’t apologize for our price; it’s based on a formula that covers our overhead and field service costs, plus allows for a modest profit. Description of Work: Unit had a power input issue and they would not fix it without installing a disconnect box. Internet query showed the box and whip kit available for less than $50.00. Quote given was to me very excessive even as I pointed out the issue to the tech. I asked with the quote would that include checking the A/C for operation (reason for which I called them) and the answer was no and that would be extra after power is restored. Since I am a electrical/electronic tech I repaired the faulty power input wiring myself and took a gamble the A/C would respond and it did. Saved me over $800.00 and other anticipated costs. Provider had no intention to try and get our A/C up temporarily where I think he could have. After he left I repaired the bad cabling in the WHIP cable. Its sad to see how people can be taken in these situations.

While the internet is a wonderful thing, we would not recommend purchasing high voltage electrical components and equipment over the internet at a discounted price. Thousands of home fires occur every year because of the installation of faulty electrical components. We only install the highest quality products, purchased locally from reputable distribution companies, to ensure the safety and security of your home. We would also never recommend that a homeowner attempt to work on or around high voltage electrical equipment. This is very dangerous and only trained, and licensed personnel should ever attempt such an activity. Our technicians are highly trained by Abacus as well as numerous major equipment and parts manufacturers. They undergo hundreds of hours’ worth of technical training every year. It is this training that allows them to perform the task correctly and safely. While we understand that our prices seem high compared to the price of discounted equipment and parts available over the internet, we believe that the peace of mind in knowing that the task was completed safely, properly, with the best equipment, by the best technicians, and under warranty with Abacus is well worth the differential in cost. While our technician would have been glad to check the overall operation of your air conditioning system, that obviously could not have been accomplished until the electrical power was restored to the system. Our Bi-Annual Maintenance (BAM) Program covers two visits to our Members homes per year to evaluate the air conditioning system in the Spring, and the heating system in the Fall. This Membership costs merely $99 per year, and also gives our members priority service over non-members as well as up to a 15% discount on labor and parts costs. We feel that this is a tremendous value, and because we provide our bi-annual system evaluation at such a reasonable price, we couldn’t cover the price of the repairs together with the inspection. Description of Work: Won't give basic pricing for a standard water heater replacement even after stating the price would not be firm if their was something unusual about the install. Wants to charge a fee to look and waste all the time and effort if price is out of market. Every business has a ballpark idea to replace a 40 Gal tall Gas water heater in a addict - just wanted the ballpark price. Refused to give that. Don't do business with Co. That can't give a 'ballpark' within a $100 or so for a standard job.
