Very disappointed. This expectation was based on other reports and a great conversation with the owner, Robert Coleman, who was very proud of the positive ratings and loved Angie's List. I was looking forward to a great experience and for getting my yard problems fixed creatively at a reasonable price. Robert felt it was important for them to start here at 7:30AM. So we got up early and were ready. I got a call when they were 30 min. late. They said they were caught in a bad traffic jam and would be here in 10 minutes. But by my estimates, I don't believe they even headed for my home until well after they were already due, assuming the starting point was Garland or a similar distance. I was surprised they waited so long to even call. After they got here I never once had the feeling they wanted to be here or wanted to work on the problems I was having. No energy or interest. It always felt like they wanted to be somewhere else, couldn't wait to leave, & only wanted to do the minimum. Kevin, the main guy, would answer questions but volunteered almost nothing. I started by showing them the Rainbird sprinkler controller and told them that it skips the 2nd zone and when you try manually it just redoes the 1st zone or goes right on to the 3rd. Kevin looked at the settings on the zones and said I should just keep an eye on it. You mean just today while you're here? No, for a while. But it doesn't work. I can't water my grass. It doesn't? No. He checked and said there was a cut wire somewhere and was there any digging on the property? I told him a sprinkler valve in the front yard was replaced a while back. He checked and found 2 wires separated near one of the valves and said a wire connector more suitable for electronics had been used, rather than one for irrigation. He showed me the waterproof one they use and I said I guess they should all be changed out then. Hesitation. Is that not a good idea? Well, it's just a matter of a lot of wires in a cramped, wet space. Cody said, "Yeah, in the sprinkler world there's a lot of if it ain't broke don't fix it." I said I wanted it done. I watched him do it and it was nothing to do. We're talking about a small, waterproof piece to cover 2 stripped wire ends twisted together. So my controller problem was fixed. Next was the rain/freeze sensor I wanted replaced. It would be $200. I believe that was the only one they had. Sticker shock. Better & more adjustable, but for a sensor? I said to do it . Just wanted to have it over with. Don't know yet if it's all functioning properly. He then asked about the work on the actual sprinklers and I said I had changed my mind. These guys just didn't seem to have what I was looking for to discuss my irrigation issues with. The Angie's List coupon reduced the $265.00 price by $10 to $255.00. In conclusion, 2 of my main problems were fixed. But I was unhappy enough with the technicians that I didn't want them to do the rest I had planned.

Member, I am deeply chagrined at this assessment of my company. I'd like to take a minute of your time and respond to your comments. (1) Yes, Kevin was late. Traffic on 635 can sometimes be extremely slow. He left his home at 6:15 to do his best to be on time. Our technicians check in in the evening at the end of the day and pick up their assignments for the next day so that they can go directly to customers in the morning. He called when he knew that traffic would not allow him to be on time as planned. (2) The wireless Rain & Freeze sensor you purchased is the finest available in the USA (for that matter, the world.) It has features no other rain & freeze sensor has: (1) LCD screen to see signal strength, setting points, etc. (2) Signal strength indicator (no other R&F sensor does); (3) Six rainfall set points; (4) Quick shut-off during a rainfall event; (5) Three adjustable low temperature setpoints; (6) Tool-free battery replacement; (7) Weather data updates every 45 seconds. Normally $250 installed, we charged you $200.00. It comes with a one year parts and labor warranty. You'll get years of reliable service from the Rain Bird (World's Largest Irrigation Manufacterer) WR-22. That was $200 of your $255 invoice. The other $55 charge was for locating the source of your problem at the valve. The controller, (which you had thought was the source of the problem,) was determined to be working just fine. The valves, (which had been repaired by someone else) were incorrectly spliced. We corrected the issue, and in a conciliatory gesture, did not charge you $95 for the Licensed Irrigator's time. We only charged you for his helper and the wire splices. Total invoice: $255.00 I'm sincerely sorry you were inconvenienced on our arrival time. Traffic sometimes causes frustration for all involved. The only thing I would quibble with is your assessment of my men. Kevin is an experienced, top quality licensed irrigator that I have found to be both reliable and of the highest integrity. He kept his focus on your problem, and solved it at a very, very fair rate. Had you allowed him to walk your system, he would have routinely found (and with your tacit approval) any defects in your lawn sprinkler system. In the past five years, he has booked over a half million dollars worth of sprinkler repairs with complete customer satisfaction. My only request is that you reconsider your ratings of our company, which I feel may be a little harsh when compared to the actual outcome of the visit. Please call me anytime about this. My lawn irrigation system had not been used in 3 years because I knew it had issues from our inspection report when buying the home. I had a sprinkler emergency that happened while my husband was out of town. One of the sprinkler valves in the backyard had broken and was leaking water pretty bad over a 3-4 day period. I couldn't get the main water valve turned off because the handle had rusted off and it was stuck in place. By this point, part of my backyard was flooded, as well as my neighbor's sideyard and driveway. After calling 3 different lawn irrigation companies and getting no response after 5 hours, I decided to call Double Eagle Sprinkler based solely on their rating on Angie's List. I am so glad I did! The owner, Robert Coleman, actually answered the call and took care of everything. He had one of his technicians leave a jobsite and come over to my house within 30 minutes. The technician was equipped to handle the situation and had my water turned off within minutes after arriving. He then inspected my sprinkler valve and looked for any flood damage to my property and instructed me on how to tell if I have even a tiny leak, in the future. This was appreciated, since my husband always takes care of this sort of thing. In the future, Double Eagle Sprinkler will be my 'go-to' sprinkler company.
Description of Work: An irrigation technician was immediately sent over to shut off a broken main water valve. He also inspected a broken sprinkler valve and checked for flood damage. He also instructed me on how to detect any kind of a leak, no matter how small, for future reference.

Ryan Coleman came and did an excellent job - very nice and courteous - did an exceptional job in going over the entire yard and picking the ones that needed adjustments and either replaced heads or lowered them. I plan to haave them every year in the spring and have thought ther work to be good and fees very faair for the level of service. I have given their name as a reference to many.
Description of Work: Called on a Friday and they had some out the next morning @ 7:30. I had a leak, turned out it was a tree root, also had several heads adjusted, moved. Double Eagle repaired a sprinkler valve on my 25-year-old system. When I called them, I thought the valve needed replacing, but the technician that came to my house identified the problem as a bad solenoid, rather than the entire valve. He was able to repair it and the system is operating normally. The technician, Greg, was very professional and honest. He could have sold me more than I needed, but he just repaired what needed repairing. I will definitely use this company again.

Awesome, Jason was dedicated to getting the job done, and did. He was even confronted with interference from the landscaper and handled the situation wonderfully and spent his time on the job and not on the cell phone. It appeared the landscaper covered up some of the heads with rocks and should not of. Jason went ahead and moved the rocks so he could work on them. It is nice to have guys like Jason with great work ethics and dedication to the job at hand. Thanks Jason!
Description of Work: Review all sprinklers. Adjust or replace sprinkler heads. Had to relocate one head, replace valves, add 2 lines, changed some rotary type to risers and some replaced with rotary. Either way, the sprinkler system needed a major tune up and was broken in places. Jason fixed it up good. Great job.

I left a message after hours on Double Eagle's answering machine and received a call first thing (8am) the next morning. They were able to have Shawn come out same day and were even ahead of schedule. Everyone I spoke with was very friendly. Shawn located the problem with our system and was able to fix it quickly. He also reset our watering times and checked the system to make sure all of the zones were operating properly. In and out in 30 minutes and now my sprinkler works! I was happy to pay for the call and it was less than I expected to pay. I would definitely recommend Double Eagle.
Description of Work: We were having problems with one of our zones running and also were receiving error codes on our sprinkler system. Shawn was able to get the zone up and running in a few minutes and also checked that the system was working properly overall.

I woke up on Saturday and my controller was showing a fault. The manual that came with it was no help (to me at least) in diagnosing the problem. I left a message for them Saturday afternoon. Robert called me first thing Monday morning and set up an appointment for early Tuesday morning. Kevin called to tell me he would be late (which I appreciate) because he had to help another technician that was having vehicle problems. Once he arrived he quickly diagnosed and repaired the problem. Double Eagle installed my system in 2006 before I was on Angie's List so this part went out 9 months after the 3 year warranty period.

On appt. day, technician didn't show up at appointed time. Over an hour later, received call that his truck had broken down and another technician was being dispatched. Kevin arrived within 15 mins of that call. He apologized for the delay and shared that water pump had gone out on the first techician's truck. I used my Angie's coupon for first time customers so repair costs were great. A good experience and I will use them again, if needed.

The company was quick and punctual. The repairman arrived on time. He inspected all 12 zones. He gave a couple of options to correct my complaints. One was expensive, and he readily agreed that was probably not worthwhile. We selected the $250 option which included moving a line of head a couple of feet over, so two rows of plants would get watered. He worked for about 45 minutes and said he was done. He advised he only moved two of the five heads. He didn't think moving the other three was necessary. I insisted on moving the last head. He did. He charged about $220, which was less than the original estimate, but it was for about two hours of work, which included a 30 minute inspection and estimate. I thought the price was fine, but $100 per hour seems high. Still, I would use them again.

Overall, this company was a disappointment. Other than punctuality which was very punctual (I appreciate this very much), I have to give them a F. The technician they sent out either did not know what he was doing or flat out would make things up. We have an older RainBird System. It has worked up until this year. I checked Angies List and found this company on it. I called them out for a look since they have gotten good reviews in the past. Since the sprinklers would not turn on, he said, well it looks like your controller is bad and you will need a new one which he said would cost $250. I asked how he knew it was the controller. I mentioned that the controller to me seems fine given that it keeps the correct time and date and progresses through the different zones appropriately, unless it is not triggering the zones appropriately. He then asked, is the controller getting power? I was perplexed that he would ask me such a question, but I showed him that it was plugged into the wall and that you could hear the controller ticking. He then said, well, maybe you are right. He proceeded to take off the front cover of the system, tried to measure some current/voltages and said, hmm... I am not too sure, let me call someone since I have never worked on one of these systems before. He then calls someone, after which he comes back and cuts two wires. I asked him what he was doing, and he said I am cutting the wires to a particular zone and then using a device that will trigger the zone to turn on. He said if it turned on, then it was the controller problem, and if it did not turn on, it was something else. He said this may not work since the device he was using is low on battery! To say the least, it did not turn on. He turned to me and said you were right the contoller was working. He then said the ground wire is cut since none of the zones were working. I asked how do you know that the device is not triggering the zones because of a low battery, and he said I do not know. WHAT?! Then why are you telling me that some wire is probably cut when your testing device may not be working?!! I asked him how much it would cost to figure that out. He said he has to bring out another device to follow the lines (which would cost me - an extra charge) and he would charge an hourly rate, and he has seen it run anywhere from $100 to over $1500 just to find the cut line which may not even be cut!!!!! He put back the front of the controller and what do you know, it does not work now - it doesn't tick or keep time! So (1) he charged me a visit fee, (2) I don't know what is really wrong with my system (I felt like he was guessing), and (3) he broke my controller! I am a very unhappy customer and BEWARE before you call them out. Perhaps, the company should inquire about what type of system is installed, so that a technician familiar with the system can be sent out.

Work was not satisfactory (quality and price for the work done). For example, in less than a week after this company supposedly checked the entire system, I found three sprinkler heads that were not working properly.
Description of Work: Check of sprinkler system overall for heads that needed repair/replacement, dry spots, valve control box problems, etc.

Member, I'm embarrassed that we did not service you properly. My records indicate we came in mid-March (3/19/10). I'd be happy to set up a no-charge follow-up call. Often, after a system is repaired and has operated a few times, items that were working just fine at the time of inspection (and didn't justify repairing or replacing) malfunction (possibly due to the fact that heads or lines upstream from them were repaired back to full pressure. Your system had significant repairs made to it at the time of repair. If I had known of your dissatisfaction I would have immediately dispatched the service foreman that worked on your system.
