Description of Work: It took a couple of days to get someone to call me back ~ partly because they just called my house phone and didn't try my cell number. I made an appt and took off work to meet the guy. One guy called and said he could take me early, but I tried to call back, I didn't receive an answer. Then when the original appt time came up no one showed up. I called the emergency tech who offered to come out around 7:30 that night but I had to be somewhere at that time. I called several times the next day and finally got a person to answer. He knew me when I said my name (which means they knew of the problem and nobody had tried to call and make ammends). They did try and get me in quick and early on Sat morning so I didn't have to ask off work again!!!! I was pleased with time it took to fix the problem and check all the sprinklers to see if they worked. Also, they didn't charge for sprinkler head that they fixed! I believe this company has a great ethics program just need to find employees with better transportation available. Also, courtesy calls are very much appreciated when waiting on someone to show up!

The invoice states we repaired valve # 5 with a new solenoid, and replaced 3 broken popup spray heads, all with 1 year parts & labor warranty. Excellent overall. The technicians arrived when promised, were very knowledgable about the system at our home. In just a short time, they evaluated the system, identified repairs needed and informed me of the cost to complete the repairs. They completed all repairs in a timely manner and also were very helpful in answering questions I had regarding the sprinkler system. We were very pleased with the service.

They were okay but what I didn’t like about them was they had to come several times to get it fixed. Every time they came out was more money, so it could have been the way it was like it was causing one problem to another. Different people came out, first one guy came out and he uses some kind of refurbished part then fixed it then it last about six weeks. Then during the spring time it wasn’t working and I had some other guy came. After the third or fourth time probably it was fixed. I would not use them again and it was because there were too many people coming out.

Everything looked pretty, but we have had many problems with the valve. It was never completely taken care of to our satisfaction. We ended up having to call another company who had to revamp the whole system and re run the lines. The attitude of the owner was very cavalier. I will never use them again and would not recommend them.

When we finished our installations (front and back yard) you expressed complete satisfaction. Any installation work done has a three year warranty. Originally called because I could not shut one station off. The individual who answered was very helpful in telling me where to locate the main valve shutoff. He then scheduled an appointment for repairman to replace the valve for first call on the next workday. The repairman showed up punctually, was very polite and knowledgable, and did a good job. I have to assume the charges were in line with other companies, but felt they were a little high. Parts and labor were not itemized.
Description of Work: Replaced a station valve for $275 and did a 5 minute mini-sprinker head line splice for $15.

The overall experience was great. I received 4 bids for the work and Double Eagle was half the cost of the other bids. I asked Robert directly why he was so much cheaper. He laid out all of his expenses for the job and told me that he doubled his cost to come up with my cost. He didn't feel that he could justify charging any more than that. I thought it was a fair answer so I hired them. Robert was in constant communication through the entire process, letting us know what to expect every step of the way. On the morning of the installation the crew seemed to be confused about where the water line should go, even though we had already discussed it. I called Robert with my concern and before I could even walk out the door, he was on the phone with the crew. The rest of the installation went smoothly and the system runs perfectly. And they guarantee their work. I have recommended them to anyone I know looking for a sprinkler company, and they will be the first call I make for any future needs.
Description of Work: We have a two level back yard and the lower level did not have irrigation. Double Eagle ran water from the front yard, bored under a shed, behind a retaining wall and into the lower part of the back yard. We don't have an alley and there isn't a lot of room on either side of the house for equipment, so the trenches had to be dug by hand. The crew installed 2 new zones to service the grass and a forthcoming flower bed.

It went poorly start-to-finish. The technician spent well over 2 hours working on the problem with no resolution. His attempts to get our problem resolved were limited to making phone calls and leaving messages. On Saturday, 7/23/2011, after the "wiring expert" didn't show, my husband left a message for Robert Coleman, he did not receive a response. On Monday, 7/25/2011, I left a message for Robert Coleman, demanding our issue be resolved. I did not receive a response. We called another provider, got same-day service and our issue is resolved. By the way, Double Eagle, it wasn't a wiring problem. Your inexperienced technician missed a broken pipe under one of the two heads he replaced and a small tweak to the valve in Zone 2. It took our other provider 45 minutes to fix the problem. Double Eagle is fired. We've been customers for seven years and they can't even manage a return phone call. So disappointing. We are okay with mistakes, but not taking any responsibility or ownership is unacceptable.
Description of Work: We called Double Eagle on Wednesday, 7/20/2011, to request a repair to our system. They offered a technician on Thursday, 7/21/2011 between 1-3pm to fix the problem. The technician arrived and spent two hours "repairing" two sprinkler heads and attempting to rewire our system by stringing an exposed wire from the zone valve 100 linear feet from our front yard, over the fence and across the back yard to the control unit. When the technician admitted that he couldn't resolve our issue, he called the home office and then informed us that their "wiring expert" would come by our home on Saturday, 7/23/2011, between 5-6pm. Because we'd just spent $3000 on landscaping, this was a necessary and urgent repair. We cancelled a family vacation to ensure our yard stayed watered and, to our disappointment, the "wiring expert" didn't show on Saturday.

When he did the test it worked fine, but when it goes to automatic, there are problems in one or two stations. I keep having the same problem, nothing was really done. He came back on a Tuesday and spent an hour working. The problem continued. He came back on a Saturday, he changed 3 stations, different ones from the ones he said were the problem. He told me station 1 was not working, when that had been the one that I did not have problems with. When it is on test, every station works. When you put it on auto that is when the problem occurs. Each times he comes out it costs me $95.00 for each hour he spends here.

Came out on a Saturday afternoon to give an estimate. Started work a month later and completed the entire job in one day. Have had to have them back out a few times to tweak the system. They knew what they were doing and have been very prompt in coming back when called to make the adjustments. Greg was vey friendly and helpful as was everyone else on the crew.

It was a great experience with a competent service provider who arrived on time, charging a very fair price for his services.
Description of Work: I called Thursday morning and was able to speak directly with a representative, no auto answer device. I told the rep that I just discovered a leak that I needed repaired. She advised that I could get a service call on the following Monday, June 20th between 3PM and 5PM and that I would be eligible for a $10 new customer discount. On Monday I got a call at 3:05PM (from Clinton Cleaver) who told me he could be at my house in about 45 minutes. He arrived at 3:45 PM with the temperature at 100 degrees and immediately started inspecting our system. He completed the inspection in about 15 minutes, confirming the one leak and he adjusted 3 or 4 sprinkler heads. He completed the repair in another 10 minutes and charged me for one-half hour plus replacement of one cracked sprinkler head. Total bill $41. I am again pleased with this the second service provider I found on Angie's List!

Although they were supposed to start at 7:30am, they didn't make it until 9 am (which was still within their 4-hr window). They were very professional and fast. Double Eagle had the new sprinklers installed and other issues resolved in a little over 45 minutes. While writing a check for the work, I noticed the flyer on the wireless rain sensor / freeze detector. I inquired about it and Greg said he had one in the truck and could install it in about 30 minutes. There was a minor issue with a weak spot in the garage drywall which resulted in too big a hole for the anchor, but I had a screw-in anchor available. They mounted and installed the base (wiring it into the controller), mounted and installed the wireless sensor, and tested the entire system in less than 30 minutes. I was extremely satisfied with the results and with the price!
Description of Work: Extend the landscaping sprinkler zone in two directions, adding 3 new sprinklers. Check the entire sprinkler system and resolve any issues (head too low, head clogged, head partially under new fence, sprinkler not straight, pattern adjustment). Plus, they installed a wireless rain/freeze sensor and connected it to the existing controller.

I made an appointment with Double Eagle to give me an estimate on a general overhaul with some zone repair of our irrigation system. The company info states free estimates, then charges for the inspection - a bit misleading, but went forward anyway due to the 'rave reviews'. I guess the "free" only applies to new systems. I give this company high marks for their professionalis and puncuality, but low marks on the estimate. The genleman was knowledgeable and knew his stuff. However, in one of my zones, he could only give me a ballpark estimate of $600 (!) as he did not know how much digging, extent of pipe replacement, etc would be involved. I could not use an estimate that was this ambiguous. Not sure about recommending them.

Oftentimes estimates tend to be on the "high" side as we are dealing with unknowable factors. All of our service estimates are "cap" figures, meaning we would do the work time and materials, and if the final cost was below the "cap" estimate, we would charge the lower amount. Most items in a sprinkler estimate can be "cookie cutter" pricing, but some items are "open-ended," such as wiring, digging near tree roots, super-low buried pipes, etc. As much as possible, we try to give our prospective customers a low-cost estimate. We don't charge trip fees. Our only charge is for the first half-hour, and we give all Angie's List customers $10 off our normal rate. This pays for the first half hour of labor. Oftentimes, if our estimate is approved, we waive this charge completely as a gesture of goodwill. Our estimate to acceptance rate is 95%. I'm sorry our estimate was not acceptable. I contacted Double Eagle via email and I got a call back that same day from Robert. We spoke on a Friday and he said he could have someone out there on Friday afternoon, anytime Saturday, or anytime Sunday. I was surprised Sunday was an option, but we went with Saturday morning. The guys (two technicians) arrived about 30 minutes early and went straight to work. They found a couple leaks I didn't know about and some broken heads I knew about. They gave me the total cost for getting it all fixed and they got it done within a couple hours. Everything went well and I would HIGHLY recommend this company.
Description of Work: The guys did a full system inspection and found a couple leaks that I didn't know I had. They replaced five sprinkler heads and repaired both leaks they found. They worked quickly and did a great job.
