I met Brian as a result of a neighbor's recommendation on Nov. 3, 2015 when he came out to give me an estimate for a roof replacement. He stated at that time, after giving me an estimate of $89XX, that he believed I had hail damage. I contacted my Insurance co. and Brian was at the house(Dec.2,2015) when the insurance adjuster here and determined that we in fact did have hail damage. The insurance company cut us a check that day for $7800 (approx) and we signed a contract with Regency to replace our roof, repair water damage in our den including replacing the floor and painting the den and rehabbing our guest bath from an earlier slab leak. Brian comes across as a very personable individual, however, he is one of those "contractors" that make promises but produce results very slowly. On Dec. 2, 2015, we signed over the insurance check to Brian and informed him that we were on a tight schedule to get things done as we are in the process of getting the house ready for sale. After waiting almost 2 weeks with no word on when the roof work would start, I called Brian on Dec. 15 to inquire about a date. He clearly had not put us in his schedule as he had to call me back after contacting his subcontractor. Roof was installed on Dec. 17, 2015, with mostly good results. On Jan. 4th, 2016, I called Brian again to inquire when we could get started on the other work as we were going out of town on Jan 17. Brian was late to our appointment that night but when he finally showed up, all he was interested in was how much money we were willing to put into the job. He left with saying "give me a couple days" and I will get back to you with ideas and we could possibly start by that Friday (Jan 8, 2016). On January 8th, I received a check from the Insurance Co. for the entire claim. When I inquired with the Insurance Co. regarding the check we received, they stated that Regency Roofing and Construction HAD INVOICED THEM FOR THE ENTIRE CLAIM, even though the work had not even started! I was uncomfortable with this as it smacked of insurance fraud and I did not want to be a part of it. We did not hear a word from Brian again until he left me a voice mail on January 27th, TWENTY THREE DAYS LATER! We returned home on January 30th, i sent a text to Brian on Jan 31st about a problem with the roof. Imagine my surprise when a gutter subcontractor showed up at the house to measure for gutters on Feb 1st. I told the guy that I was done with Regency Roofing and Construction since we could not count on him to do anything in a timely manner. I sent Regency Roofing a letter on Feb 3rd cancelling our agreement. Per Texas Property Code, General Contractors are required to give customers a list of subcontractor names and phone number of everyone who will be working on our property, something that he failed to do. Regency roofing and Construction then sent me an invoice for $12,838.57 for the roof, a roof that he estimated at only $89xx in November!! Brian was surprised when I fired him and asked why we didn't call him about this earlier. I stated that he made a promise to me for dates and times and that I wasn't about to chase him for work that he committed to. This company will undoubtedly say something entirely different but the fact remains that he lost business due to his ineptitude and lackadaisical commitment to his customers. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY FOR ANYTHING! I paid out of pocket an additional $4900 for this individuals greed regarding the price of the roof! As of today, February 25th, I still have a problem with the roof that needs the attention of Regency Roofing and Construction. I have posted a complaint on the Better Business Bureau website about this situation also. I have never encountered an individual or Company that is this non-commital and at best, ethically suspect. Enough said.
