On the scheduled start date, two young men came and said they were there to get it ready. They did not know what happened to George, he was not their crew leader. Turns out that was Ruben, who we eventually found out was the one who trained George and Anwar was confident could do a good job as well. That first day, they found out the sub-floor was bad and quoted a price to replace the whole thing- almost 800 sq ft. They took my husband to buy the plywood so we could buy it at cost. Four guys spent 4 days working very hard replacing the sub-floor. This was not something that was scheduled in, and they were very accommodating of their schedule to do this. Every day they came between 8:30-9 and worked until between 7-8pm. They worked very hard. They do take a lunch break that seemed kind of long but it is hard labor, after all. They moved stuff around upstairs (beds, dressers, bookcases, file cabinet), over and over to do all the work (sub-floor, leveling, flooring). Every night they set up a bed for us, made sure they swept before they left, and left a path to the bathroom we were using.
On the 4th day they started the leveling (still took 10 bags, we paid per bag), and putting the flooring down. Ruben even wanted them to work on Saturday, but between us having somewhere to be that day and the other guys, they simply cleaned up and came back on Monday. They finished everything but the stairs on Monday. (6 work days).
Ruben worked on the stairs alone, and they were a bear. They had been made strangely, from what I could tell, and it was putting a puzzle together to get everything covered. The bottom stair was curved with carpet on it, and he had to figure out what to do with it. He put a piece of plywood curved around on it, I don't know how he did it. And he painted it. They look great.
I was unsure about Ruben at first, as he spoke more Spanish than English, but one of the crew was a good translator. I was not that happy about the color of grout they used in the bathroom, and a choice was not given to me, and I forgot to ask. The counters were a pale grey, the tile was beige and gray, I would have picked a gray grout to pick that up. It doesn't look bad, though.
One of the reasons the cost was so high is because of the installation and materials of the sub-floor. We also bought the baseboards ourselves to make it be at cost, and they put them on. They also cleaned the walls if they got marked and cleaned up after themselves when they left, including debris in the front yard from sawing and cutting.
My experience was absolutely wonderful. I worked directly with Anwar who ensured my expectations were met throughout the purchasing and installation process. The installers were punctual, professional and extremely courteous. I will absolutely use All American Flooring again! My next project is to have granite countertops installed and I will be a return customer of All American Flooring and Anwar. Thanks for the great experience.
Sincerely, Sharon.
Just received a call from Celi, who threaten us if we don't remove this review she will sue and put a lien on my house! She says she will sue us for the two bags of leveling compound ($80) . A while back I've complained about their delay and asked to be compensated. After some hard negotiation, Celi agreed to subtract two bags of leveling compound ($80) from our total of 11 bags. Now Celi comes back and says we owe her $80 and she will sue us for them.
Sales went well with Eric who was nice and professional.
The biggest problem is the installation and their account manager, a lady named Celi. The installers lead by Jorge were courteous, but the craftsmanship was far from desired. The installation area was about 1300 sf. The problems:
1) They floated the leveling compound on the whole surfaces but still left some uneven areas. And this is where they make extra money too. Initially the salesman Eric told us there would be about 2 bags of leveling compound, but the installers told us they needed to flow the whole area and it used totally 11 bags of leveling compound. Each bag is $40 (was $50 initially, we negotiated it down during the installation), labor included. Lowes sold them at $15 so they charged $25 for labors per bag, which is very pricy. You need to be AWARE of this TRAP.
2) They glued and nailed the T molding cracked the wood We had to wait for 2 weeks for them to fix that.
3) The job of putting back the customized base board after finishing the wood floor installation was not that good. The joint had big gap. Caulking was not even. Too many nails were on some small corner pieces, which cracked one piece. The regular base board seemed ok.
4) The quarter round around the stairway where it meets the wood floor was UGLY initially. Jorge fixed it finally, but again we had to wait 2 weeks for the fix.
5) The installer used some short pieces of wood panel in the center areas, which were supposed to be installed at the edges.
6) The installer did a very hasty cleaning of the wood floor after the installation and left quite a bit of residual glue and hammer marks on the wood floor that I had to clean.
7) The installers were late always except for the first couple of days. I don't mean half an hour late. I mean late late. Like 2, 3hours was nothing to them.
8) The project was estimated to be finished in 1 week by them but it took them 3 weeks. We had to reschedule the painting and delayed our moving in.
9) The account manager Celi was such a dishonest person. She agreed the first 2 bags of leveling compound were free. The installer wrote it down I signed it. When we made the final payment she denied that there was no such a thing.
We just found one area was not glued well and in the process of claiming the warranty. What a headache.

person in charge of the project was particular meticulous about the visual , and cosmetics and did a great job specially when they also had to replaced the base board.
I would highly recommend this company to others and have done so already.
