ClimateGard LLC

Description of Work: ClimateGard replaced all my windows and wrapped the exterior facings to enhance energy efficiency and eliminate the need for painting.

Description of Work: We contracted w/Climate Gard LLC in July,2011 to install windows in our home. Wade Page was the company representative that we dealt with. He came to our home and demonstrated the features of the windows they were to install. He told us that his company - Climate Gard LLC ,was a national company based in Chicago, that the windows were custom sized for every window and that they were Energy Star rated. The crew showed up, SAWED our old windows out of the openings, and left the old flanges on the frames. They had measured the openings wrong and tried to compensate for the mistake by putting the windows further into the openings, surrounding the window in the frame with 1/4 round molding and filling in the spaces with canned foam, which was not even the right type for the application. We expressed our dissatisfaction. Wade Page asked if we would allow them to come back and do one window over and see if it met our expectations. When they were here the first time, they had broken a 5' x 5' picture window that they were trying to install in our dining room. They ordered a new one, and showed up at our house the next week, wanting to start the do-over that they somehow assumed applied to ALL the windows that they had installed. We had decided by then that we wanted nothing more to do with Climate Gard LLC and asked them to please remove the windows. They refused, but actually offered to reduce the cost of the whole job by 50% .We refused and again asked that the windows be removed. They refused and stated that "they could not now use the windows." . We had meantime done some research and discovered that Wade Page had misrepresented the company's credentials. They were NOT a national company based in Chicago, but a local company. We contacted CLIMATE GUARD, in Chicago ( notice spelling difference ) and they assured us that Climate Gard LLC, was not in any way connected with them. Furthermore, the "custom" windows were just ordinary home-improvement -store windows, and were NOT Energy Star rated. We contacted the Better Business Bureau, had several email exchanges with them and Climate Gard LLC, could reach no agreement and were offered arbitration. At that point, we refused, and insisted on having the windows removed. They again refused, we contracted with another company for windows and siding and that company is now in the process of removing the Climate Gard LLC windows and replacing them. We will return Climate Gard's windows to them.
