Independent Overhead Doors

I called Sat am when they opened, their earliest availability was that afternoon. Cary arrived 10 min early and got to work after we discussed if the door was best repaired or replaced. There was no sales pitch to replace the door, in fact he said this is worth repairing. There was a lot of work to do, undoing some repairs done by the previous owner to shore up the heavy weight door. The result was the original door working better than ever. It now moves smoothly and soundly where before it sounded a bit like an old wooden roller coaster. Additionally, I asked Cary what could be done to make some "homemade improvements" by the previous owner look better. He removed the random wood pieces they inserted into the door to strengthen the middle with some angle iron and now it looks like a solid door rather than one which gave the false impression it was going to cave in. Cary adjusted and tested every part of the door system. He explained every part of the door to insure I understood each piece's importance. He cleaned up, even took the scrap wood he removed from the door. He worked diligently for several hours and the cost was exactly what he stated which we felt was extremely reasonable. If this door ever gives up the ghost, these are the guys we will call.

Cary fixed cable and reset torsion, adjusted v-track, and lubed and tested door and opener. Garage door moves more smoothly and quietly than before. I will call Independent Overhead Doors for any future repairs.

We are very pleased with the work that was done for a very fair price. I will contact Doug in the future for any help we need with our garage door.

I was concerned because of a set of very old garage door springs of (app 40 years)in our double car garage. They were rusted with some stretched coils. Cary came and checked out the doors and all the mechanisim. He recommended replacing the coils springs with torsion springs and adding a full length brace to compensate for a sag in the middle panel. He declared that the rollers even though they were of the old design and might have to be special ordered were in good condition for now. All work was finished in a couple of hours. He tuned up the door opener, checked out the gear box and lubricated the system. I was very satisfied that Cary did not try to sell me added stuff for such an old door. I felt he gave me an honest assessment of its condition

He was responsive and scheduled right away. He recommended items that were needed to improve the working of the door. Also, I always appreciate when someone does not recommend extras that are not needed he only recommended ones that improved the quality of the service of the door.

I called to have them check out my garage door, as it would stop opening after about 18 inches. Cary came out on Monday morning at 10a. He was a nice guy and has plenty of experience. He immediately noticed the springs need to be replaced, which he did in less than an hour. He checked the rollers and said they looked fine. He made some minor adjustments to things without any charge. Lastly, I asked him to move the location of the door opener. All told, great service for $235. I'd definitely recommend them and will use them again.

This company is the best - I have them on my go-to list for garage door repairs! The technician said that only one t-spring was broken, but due to the age of the unit, it would be wise to replace both...if one was broken, the other was sure to follow. It would be less expensive than having to replace another single spring in the future (i.e. service call and parts price). Cary was very courteous, and helpful. He noticed that the mounting bracket on the doors track was not mounted properly, and he took the time to fix that at no additional cost. He also put another screw in the push button for the door as it was coming loose and wiggling. They have also provided other work for me in the past, and I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND them to any one!

This company is a big fat joke. The guy got to our home about 4:15, I explained to the technician that i had put in a new carriage and that I could no longer set limits on the door. About 45 minutes or so into the guy looking at the opener he knocks on the door and tells me he doesn't have any idea what could be wrong with the unit and that they normally don't work on Genie products. He said that I had 2 options; 1. Supply him with an owners manual so that he could attempt to find out what was going on. or 2. Call another company that specalizes in the Genie Brand. I left early from work because they told me that they could handle the work. I should send them a bill for 2 hours of my time that they wasted by not having a clue what they were doing. Who accepts work that they know they can't perform?? I don't understand!!

Doug arrived on time and provided 2 extra garage door openers and installed a wireless keypad. He was done in a matter of minutes and all seem to work fine. The only thing I was disappointed about was I wanted a keypad that would accept multiple codes and Doug said all he had was one that accepted a regular code and a temporary code. The manufacturers temp code is for 255 hours or 255 openings. Thats not as convenient as I would have liked,. Thats not Doug's fault, it's the manufacturers. But it's a pretty arbitrary number - it could have been for UP TO 999 hours or openings. I think there are keypads out there that will allow for multiple codes without the restriction of hours or openings. Not sure why Doug couldn't get one of these for me.

I called that morning and he was there before 1:00 that same day. The price included a $10.00 senior discount. He was very professional and courteous (the owner Mr. Holloway performed the service). My husband didn't stand and watch him since he was busy doing other things, but the garage door is working just fine and we are very happy with the service he provided and would highly recommend him.

There was a visit to measure the door openings and talk about the service. Then two visits to try to first fix the old door, and the second visit to put in a new door. They were very up front with me and I trusted they would do a good job. I was very satisfied with the work. UPDATE: 7/23714 I only had one of my 2 garage doors changed. I cannot afford a second door at this time. I needed to paint the old door white so it would match the new door. I called Doug Holloway at Overhead Doors and asked him what brand and color would match. He called the supplier and didn't get an answer, so he WENT THE EXTRA MILE and took a section of a garage door to Lowe's, scanned it, and called me with the brand and color numbers. We painted the door yesterday and it was a EXACT match!! I was thrilled that he was so nice and willing to help me solve this issue. Everything went GREAT! The workers did a fabulous job! Cleaned up after themselves! Worked around my schedule! AND the price was EXCELLENT! I would highly recommend!

Monday evening the garage door would not open. Called about 6:30 PM and made an appointment for the following morning. The serviceman was here on time and made the needed repair. This serviceman, Gary was very polite and was the only service tech ever, to express concern that my dog might get out and run off. I really appreciated that! In addition to replacing the one broken spring with two new springs, he lubricated all the hinges and checked and double checked to make sure every thing was working properly. Would definitely use again.

I found my garage door inoperable on Sunday morning due to a broken spring and the cables were wrapped around the upper spools and jammed outside of the garage door leaving me unable to open my garage with both cars stuck inside. I called "Independent Overhead Doors" at 12:35pm. I talked to Mr. Doug Holloway to see if he could come out to repair my door. Mr. Holloway stated that he could but that it would be a couple of hours before he could get to my house, I told him that would be perfect. Mr. Holloway arrived approx. 1 1/2 hours later. Mr. Holloway unjammed the cables replaced the spring and lubed all movable parts and the door track and insured that the door operated normally. Understand that this all took place on a Sunday afternoon and that I was expecting a bill around $250.00-$300.00 or more. When Mr. Holloway presented me with the bill of $155.00 you can imagine how astonished I was, I gladly paid him and thanked him. Mr. Holloway was a true professional during the entire repair and I highly recommend Mr. Holloway and "Independent Overhead Doors".

The technician was not professional. He was banging on my garage door with some sort of sledge hammer because the door wouldn’t come down properly. He left dents in my door which are still there. The quality of work was very poor. I would never call them back again.

What a great company. Service tech arrived promptly on schedule. Service was completed quickly. He spent time reviewing functionality and safety features in addition to reviewing program options. Strongly recommend!

Called and set up an appointment for the next day. Very prompt. Assessed the situation and fixed it. He did point out a few concerns to my husband about a few other things but did not pressure us to do anything about it at this time except to keep an eye out. Serviceman came in, did the job, and on he went...love that.

My garage door was opening about half-way. When the representative arrived, it actually opened fully a couple of times and then opened just half-way. The representative arrived about 2 hours before the scheduled time. That wasn't a problem since I was home but if I had been out running errands, I would have missed the service call.

Fixed all problems with my garage doors. They work better than they ever have before.

I called on Monday about a garage door opener that wasn't working and was told that someone could be by within the hour, must faster service than I expected. Cary came out and looked everything over. I had an old opener (no longer made) which occasionally opens the door when there's a break in the power. It finally stopped working during the last ice storm. He said the springs were undersized for the weight of the door and the opener would need to be replaced since parts aren't available. My garage has a beam running across the middle of the ceiling which restricts the depth for the opener. Any replacement has to be cut down to fit. I made an appointment for Tuesday afternoon. Cary came back at 3pm Tuesday and managed to adjust the springs rather than replace them which saved me some money. The unit they usually use for installations that require modification is no longer manufactured so this was his first time installing this type unit with the depth modification. He worked until nearly 7:30pm but the new keypad wasn't working and he was still having trouble getting the door height right. Since he needed to get another keypad, he asked if it could be finished in the morning which was fine with me. Wednesday morning, the company owner came over and wrapped up the job. The new system works great and I'm very pleased with it. These guys are easy to work with and very concerned with the quality of their work. It ended up costing less than I expected.

Broken spring and a jammed garage door. Called and someone was at the house in less than two hours. The quickly made the repair and I am very happy with IOD and will use them again, if and when needed.

Went well beyond my expectations. The door was frozen and would not open, even the manual lock would not disengaged. I was just hoping he could get the door open so that I could get out. The service took only about 1-2 hours. The cost was reasonable. He also showed me a couple things as well. The door operates much more quietly. The torsion adjustment balanced the door and sealed it up as much as possible without installing extra seal. The door had bowed at the bottom, he straightened that as much as possible and installed a strut to prevent further bowing. Also includes a 30-day service warranty. Very happy and would contract with them again.
