THIS CORPORATION IS NOT ACTIVE AS OF TODAY... Had a pool built which took 4mos over the estimated time. The pool was subpar quality... my spa was re-tiled FIVE times by them and is still not correct. My water feature wall was plumbed incorrectly so they had to run the plumbing on the outside of the water feature wall.... Really.... When they constructed my retaining wall they neglected to correctly compact the loose soil they used to build up the area. So the result is I am loosing an entire side of dirt build that is over eight foot tall and a retaining wall they constructed. So what did they do... refused acknowledge their errors and then sent me a final bill for $50,000 OVER what was actually owed. Then they put a lien on my house when I told them they were crazy. We are currently in litigation.... Oh yeah.... They are selling the land where their business is currently located... STAY AWAY from these guys.

Description of Work: Built custom pool and patio. Excellent design services and quality products. Best value out there. Only downside was the project management was very poor. City inspectors would show up and cite the contractor for improper licenses and paperwork. In the end, we got a great looking pool, with excellent materials and craftmanship, and no issues with minor follow-ups.

From the onset of talking design with them we should have know this company was going to be a problem. Their designer, Clay, while innovative in his ideas is very arrogant and condescending. Not only to me but to my wife as well. We asked if there would be a supervisor on site during the process and he assured us there would be. Not once during the process did one person show up. Apparently, he was referring to the fact that every set of contractors they employ have their own supervisors. No one followed up on the design or came and discussed with us concerns we had. I'm a stay at home dad so I was here daily. I caught several design issues (rebar concerns on a shallow area and a tiling issue on another) and called Clay. He dismissed them and told me I wasn't in the business so how could I know. However, several days later they were here repairing the error. Then, when building our pavilion we had both agreed on a particular design during the contract phase and we signed the papers and approved the presented design. Then, during the construction we ran into an issue with property lines and the pavilion had to be moved. Without consulting us, Clay changed the design and had the contractor build us a less elaborate pavilion. Of course, we called Clay and he began insulting me and my wife, telling us we are tough to please and we wanted to change too many things after the contract was signed, which I must say worked out in their favor as we paid extra for these things. Clay did admit to changing the design of the pavilion though because he thought with the new position it wouldn't have looked good. The issue is we paid for the more elaborate design and got cookie cutter design. The original design would have looked great but the problem is he made the decision without even contacting us. Then during the concrete phase, we had not made up our mind if we were going to stain the concrete or color the concrete. On the day of the pour, I saw an employee throwing dust onto the finished product. I thought it was a hardener so the concrete would set faster. So, after about a week I called Clay to ask when they were going to meet with us about the color of the concrete. He told me that it was already done and the color we had was the color we were getting. I asked him who chose the color? He told me I did! I told him I didn't even know what the color was called so how could I have chosen it? Again, he took his normal defensive stance telling me I chose the color and he doesn't make choices on his own and that if I didn't like the color they would have to charge me to change it. In closing, let me say that this designer Clay has a reputation for this type of behavior. Almost every homeowner in my neighborhood that has landscape work, shutters, pools, spas or pavilions or just a meeting to quote work prices thinks he is insulting and arrogant. The rest of the employees there have poor follow up or don't return calls (as is evident in my original work request submitted in October of 2013) and work requests get lost in the folds. They struggle to fulfill the basics of customer service and I would strongly advise anyone doing business with them. Their repair work is based on how many referrals you send them?? Yes, read that again!! They will only repair things that they say are not covered if you send them referral work. I like my friends and neighbors so why would I refer them?? I want to also mention another issue. Within two years of completion my remote for my pool equipment went out. So I called Outdoor Signature and spoke to Alicia. She told me that it was out of warranty and they would see what they could do. Then a few days later she calls me and basically tries to tell me that because I wouldn't let their photographer take photos of my project after it was completed that I was on my own and the part was not under warranty any longer. I told her to look at the website that there indeed were some photos of our project and the reason we refused to allow the photographer into our backyard is because at the time I was doing the landscaping myself and it wasn't done at the time they wanted the photographer to come by. However, undeterred I started looking around the internet and found out that my part WAS INDEED COVERED. So, I called the manufacture directly and because I had more than three pieces of their equipment installed at initial set up my warranty was good for 3 YEARS. The saddest part of this whole thing is our pool and spa are beautiful. We get comments on it from everyone that walks through the door. But, when we tell them about the condescending behavior and the poor follow thru no one would ever wants to deal with that. With just a little bit of training for the employees and a minor change on the designer's attitude this company could be something wonderful.
Description of Work: They were suppose to fix a leak that I've had in a water feature they built around my spa. I contacted them in October of 2013 and no one even came to look at it until January. Then in March they told me it wasn't covered and for them to proceed with repairing the leak I would need to pay them. However, it was covered when they attempted to fix it the year prior. This pool was built in April of 2012.

The finished project is beautiful although the completion was delayed by over a week because of weather. Clay listened to our ideas and was able to execute within our budget.

It did not go well. The project manager (landscape architect) provided a great design. The actual execution was a different story. It took 8 months to complete a 8-week project. Some issues: 1. Failed city plumbing inspections numerous times 2. Work crews wouldn't show till 2:00 and 3:00 pm and try to work into the night. 3. Little to no supervison onsite and no enlish spoken onsite 4. Poor quality control. A lot of work had to be redone several times. 5. Used the wrong moisture barrier on the balcony and rain water leaked through to the patio below. All the tile and thin set was chiseled up and re-done. 6. Installed island ammenities in the wrong place and had to redo. 7. Drilled holes through the exterior wall into the living room. 8. Plants and shrubs were planted only to be trampled by follow on workers
Description of Work: We contracted for a stamped concrete patio with island and built in grill, sink and ice chest; balcony with spiral staircase; and landscaping.

Response from Outdoor Signature
In response to the member. We are always sorry when one of our clients is disappointed as we do take each project seriously we do strive for excellence across the board. It is hard to comment on each of the noted elements, construction always has its variables and this project had its complexities with confined working spaces and access, requested changes, changing city requirements, none of these are excuses but each did play a factor in the project. The plumbing to the sewer was completed by a contracted party, city requirements did change and so it did fail inspection but was corrected. Teams work as needed so if there was a team onsite for an hour then left, it was because they were complete with what was required at the time. Trampled plants were replaced at no charge for the member and any errors we made were also corrected at no charge. What should be said is that the project was fully completed, any error was corrected and done so quickly. We do not expect anyone to pay for our mistakes and this was the case with the members, we also completed additional requests and elements at no-charge as a note of simple gratitude but these have no mention. The member's project completed beautifully, it has very custom elements that do take more time and the few aspects that were not perfect, we corrected and I am sure they will enjoy it for many years. To those that may question; we welcome you to call or come and meet our staff and showroom, if you can find a more established, equipped and creative organization then we encourage you to use them but please make your comparison as the 100’s of completed projects each year show the our craftsmanship and creative differences are unmatched and quickly obvious. We are not perfect but we will make it that way for you. Outdoor Signature will always bring you more value for your dollar and welcome you to come and see the difference. We are referenceable for any work we perform and are always pleased to provide references in your neighborhood.

The gentleman had really good ideas. He took what we were looking for into consideration. He also tried to keep the cost down. He did great follow-up. We decided to wait on the project. He was very professional, and he had a lot of knowledge about what he was talking about, which was great. He was on time. He offered to call us after six months to see if we are interested.

Overall was good, best price by far. Quality of work was good. Took a little longer than they initially said but part of that was a miscommunication. Would definitely recommend them and would use them again though.

It was wonderful! Kaye is very professional and attentive to her customer's ideas and preferences. I found Outdoor Signature through Angie's list. After seeing pictures on their website, I contacted them to have a landscape design drawn for my backyard. Kaye contacted me quickly and scheduled a time to meet immediately. When she arrived she was very professional and easy to talk with. I was particularly impressed that she took time to take notes, ask questions about my preferences and consider the overall feeling of my home to help formulate a design for my backyard. After she took a few pictures, she took the measurements from my home and created a PDF version of her plan. It is in vibrant color and shows me exactly how it might look when completed. She also made clear that she would work with me after she had gotten feedback to change any items that I might not prefer. I hope to proceed in steps to beautiful my backyard through the overall plan she created. I would use the company again, as well as recommend her to friends. Thank you Outdoor Signature!
Description of Work: A rendering of my backyard was made in a PDF format. It showed the landscaper's design ideas for a remodel of current landscaping that needs updating.

Very well. They constructed a large patio cover that attached to the existing roof and aligned very well to the existing roofline. They also built a 140 sq. ft arbor, poured a 720 square deck (concrete) with a special finish, built a stone firepit along with running a gas line and installed a medium size landscape bed. I would consider the project to have been moderate in complexity and they seemed to do everything correctly including interacting with the right people for permits. Construction techniques applied all seemed very good (I used to build homes so I know a little). The project took a little longer than expected, but that was mostly due to weather and some unexpected complications that I helped create. The company seems conscientious about their work and they solicited my opinions at all critical points. It is easy for me to recommend them to others.
Description of Work: Company looked at the plan developed by a previous designer and suggested several improvements that looked much better and didn't add too much to the price. As a result of that and their very good responsiveness, they were selected after a competitive evaluation with several other contractors in the area. It was amazing that some bidders completely ignored my very easy deadline, while others such as Outdoor Signature responded quickly but only after they came to visit my home. Two of the other contracts didn't even bother to visit even though this was a fairly expensive project.

They removed the exiting landscaping bed in front of my house. They put in new soil, planted large number of plants and trees, put a fountain and did edging. They are very nice and easy to deal with. They are very punctual and responsive. They came up with a nice design and the end result was very good. I gave them a deadline and they completed the job on time. Their price was very fair. They also paid me for referring them to new customers. I was very satisfied with their service.
