Dresses were "cleaned" (and I do use the term sarcastically) and my son-in-law picked them up and paid the bill. When my daughter removed them from the dry-cleaning bags she saw splatters of bleached areas across the sheer fabric of the over skirts. It was worse on one dress than the others but all showed some damage. They were returned to the dry cleaner and my son-in-law pointed out the problem. He was told that they would be re-cleaned. When he picked the up again the damage was still apparent. He asked the employee about what they were going to do about ruining them. He informed her that I (the grandmother) had paid for them and they were not inexpensive gowns. She told him that they had cut out the manufacturer's tags but she knew she'd seen those particular dresses at Walmart for around $20. He had to go home and get the receipt and shipping confirmation to show them that I had paid $75 apiece for them from Macy's. at that time he was told the manager would contact him, which of course did not happen. When he finally called and said that he would be there at a specific time to speak to the always "out of the office" manager, he was confronted with rudeness and a refusal to accept any responsibility for the damage. The manager claimed that the fabric must have been faulty and could not withstand dry-cleaning. If that was the case the entire sheer overlay would have been damaged and not just a random damage pattern that is obviously from chemical splatter (only one side of the dress, different on the three dresses,etc.). My so -in-law even had to argue to get his dry-cleaning fee refunded. This is not just a matter of the money. These dresses were obviously very special to us and we would just like some acknowledgement that either equipment was faulty or badly maintained or employees were careless or incompetent. The manager has refused to acknowledge any fault on their part or to offer to pay for the gowns. I am out the $225 that I spent on these dresses as well. Lesson learned! AVOID THIS DRY CLEANER AT ALL COSTS!!!!! If you know anyone considering having a wedding dress or other expensive garment cleaned, warn them to never consider this business. I would hate to see someone have a wedding dress cleaned only to discover later that it had been ruined and of course it would be through no fault of the business that "cleaned it".
Description of Work: AVOID this dry cleaner with any garment you value! We took three Christening/Baptism gowns purchased for my triplet granddaughters to be cleaned. They were expensive, quality garments that we planned for them to be able to have for their own children. They were worn once and had no soiling that you could see but we wanted to make sure there were no unseen substances on them before we put them away for storage. They are ruined.
