 + 1 moreIn Late May we had the work done. John and crew showed up each day when they said they would and kept us informed of the status and plans each day. They are very hard workers. They pumped a couple truckloads of cement, and poured three more truckloads. We are very very pleased with the finished product. I have already recommended John to two family members and a friend who need concrete work done.
Description of Work: We needed our driveway and parking area expanded, patio extended, a new sidewalk, and pool deck extended. After trying unsuccessfully to have our calls returned from another concrete contractor that we had used in the past, we heard about John and Alguire Construction. He returned our calls promptly, and provided a very reasonable quote for the work being done.

 + 0 moreLowest of three bids. Selected for price and Angie's list ratings. John Alguire is very professional. He worked alongside his men and completed the job in two days. There were a couple of minor issues. First, I had asked for window frame outline on the walkway, but John forgot to do it. That's partly my fault for not watching as they poured. John gave me a discount for the work not performed. Second, his men left a lot of concrete debris when they removed the forms. I called John and he immediately came with his crew to clean it up. So overall, the job was done very well. There has been no cracking of the concrete at all because expansion joints were provided where needed, and the drainage is good. The driveway and walk have received many favorable comments from neighbors and friends. I would definitely use Alguire Construction for other projects.
Description of Work: Installed a new concrete driveway where an old asphalt driveway had been. Installed a new concrete walkway from street to front door of house. About 50 yards of concrete were poured.

I would definitely refer and recommend Alguire Services to anyone in need of cement services. John, himself was always on the job, actually working the job himself in many cases. DO book ahead and remember that all excellent service providers stay busy. DO be flexible and remember cement work is affected by weather so your anticipated work date may be delayed and it is only fair that jobs are finished in the order of their bookings. You will definitely be rewarded by the wait time should you have any as Alguire is the best of the best and yes I am very particular in services that I request!
Description of Work: Alguire Construction repaired our severe crack on our front patio and faux cemented it (not sure of the technical description). Alguire previously repaired our front steps as well as re cemented our driveway.

We are thrilled that John won this award, but we are not surprised. I've dealt with many contractors and businesses in my 67 years and have never met anyone with the integrity and business and personal ethics of John Alguire. John and his crew were great. On time, cleaned up and finished on time. We will use him again for a driveway this fall.

 + 0 more, So far so good. They responded very quickly. John came out and met my husband and assessed the job. He emailed a quote the next day, which we accepted and emailed back. He called -- I think the same day and set up the job, came out when they said they would, did the job, cleaned up after themselves and left. They were very professional and we would certainly use them again or recommend them to anyone.
Description of Work: We called Alguire because it was so highly rated in Angies list and we were not disappointed. We have a long concrete driveway that had several segments in it that had cracked due to roots from a nearby large oak tree. We removed the oak tree and called Alguire to come out and give us an estimate on the repair of our driveway. It was necessary to replace 510 square feet of concrete driveway. We also had a drainage problem where water was running down the slope behind our house and into our driveway and then into our garage. It was a mess that we had been fighting for a couple of years. John with Alguire had a solution for that and did some rather extensive work in that area to solve that problem. He cut out a very nice trench in the concrete and then finished that out nicely and laid heavy-duty grates over that. He also did some minor work around the drive to alter the flow of the water and direct it either away from the drive or into the trench. I am not describing it very well, I am sure.

 + -1 moreThey came the first day and jackhammered the driveway and hauled it all away. Very clean job site. The following day the whole crew came and poured the driveway. Very meticulous work and courteous crew. The job turned out beautifully and we were very pleased with the whole experience. We will definitely use them again when we get ready to put in a stamped concrete patio in our back yard.
Description of Work: Jack hammered a large portion of our driveway that had large cracks in it. Water was getting underneath and causing a problem with the foundation of our home. They were prompt, professional and wonderful to work with.

 + -1 moreJohn Alguire prides himself on being responsive and professional. His crews do good (not perfect) work. He gets the job done when he says he will, at the price that he quotes with a minimum of drama. That is a lot more than can be said of many contractors. My only significant complaint was that more care was not taken to install the perimeter foundation bolts. I had to cut off four of the bolts because they were placed in the middle of doorways. This reduced the effectiveness of the holding power and were a nuisance to cut off. If you hire John to build a concrete foundation, make sure that when the do the pour that they pay attention to this detail.

Possibly due to weather, some of the concrete formed hairline cracks, they assessed the cracking and cut out and replaced areas that the cracking was not superficial. Did a great job overall.

I cannot inform enough about them; they did a fantastic job. I have already recommended them to two of my neighbors who wanted some work done; I think both of them have contacted them as far as I know. I had no issues with him. Their reviews on Angie?s List were so high that I decided that they were the guys that I wanted to take a chance with and their prices did not upset me as well. I did not get a chance to price them though they could have been a little high. They were certainly professional in the way they conducted themselves and their crew. I got good value for the money that I paid. They were here when they said they would be here.

 + -1 moreThey were very nice and very professional. Their estimate was just the most expensive one we got and so we couldn't use them. The problem we had to fix was kind of complicated and so we had several contractors look at it and there was kind of a difference in opinion about what they should do about it. Probably the reason they were expensive is because it was more labor intensive than what we ended up doing.
Description of Work: Alguire Construction gave us an estimate to do repair of concrete slabs. One area of our house had been divided from the garage and the slabs fell and started to crumble on the edges. They had to pour new concrete in those areas.
