We called David Briley to come give us an estimate after seeing the work he was doing at our son and daughter-in-law's home. He came out almost immediately, measured the areas, talked about the process and got back to us with a very reasonable estimate within 12 hours. He usually tries to have a couple of jobs going in the same area to make it convenient and cost-effective. In this case, our son's home is about 2 miles away, so at times when they were waiting for their floor to dry before the next step, they were able to come to our home and work. The removal of the carpeting took less than a day. They cut it up, removed it and removed the carpet tack strips and swept up leaving the area spotless and ready for the flooring to be delivered. It came the next day and the owner and one employee were here to install it promptly at 8:00 the next day. They had the dining room completely installed in about 3 hours, the hallway in another couple and began the upstairs, completing the installation of all the wood by the end of the next day. The following day, they arrived with sanding equipment, vacuums and got the dining room and hallway sanded, swept and dust-free for application of the stain which was done both manually around the edges and with a floor polishing machine for the larger areas. Things slowed down a bit at this point, but it was due to needing to let the stain sit and dry before putting on the first of multiple coats of the finish. The dining room was finished with oil-based coating while the hallway and upstairs/office area was done in water-based, due to a quicker drying time. They will do either one for the same price, even though the water based is more expensive. It takes them less time, so it all evens out. Mr. Briley is extremely fair and conscious of customer service and customer needs. We have three indoor cats and during the "drying period" closed the dining area off with plastic to keep them out (not that they didn't TRY to get in). The water-based finish dries so quickly that they were able to apply it all in one day and then come back the next day to install the shoe molding. Overall, it was an excellent experience. Nice people, reasonable price, Professional service. I would hire them again in a flash.
Description of Work: We had the carpet in our dining room, carpet in a hallway and carpet in an upstairs hallway and office replaced with white oak hardwood. The company removed the carpeting, installed the new flooring, sanded, stained and finished it and installed shoe molding on all the walls.
