ALTERRA Pest Control

I was a long time satisfied customer until April 2016, all of a sudden you couldnt get anyone to answer the phone. I left messages for months with no return call, finally in June I received a call that they hired a new office person to answer the phone and it was time to do my quarterly service- we set up a time for later in the week, i took the day off for the inside treatment. They never showed, never called, I called several times and again only got voicemail so I gave up and hired another company. Two months later they call to collect my premium - I ask to speak to a manager, who is conveniently not in the office and assured I will receive a call back-I never heard from back from Altera until last night when I received papers from a collection agency. Unfortunately I am not the only victim, I came across several other reviews tonight with the exact same situation.

They sprayed on the outside and I was having problems on the inside and they said those should go away due to the fact that they sprayed the outside and it didn’t go away. So I finally convinced them to spray inside and they said they will go away within two weeks.

There is not much I really like about them. They come out and do their work but they never tell me when they are here or what they are doing. At the last service last week, we found their statement in the middle of the yard.

I have been using them for a couple of years now because they are doing a good job and come out if I have any problems in between services. I am charged quarterly about $78.

First appointment was great, they let us know we needed to be home so we could also have the interior done and they sprayed both internally and externally. No problem.  Weeks later we noticed a ton of ants inside the home.  We called Alterra and asked for a re-spray and they scheduled a technician to come out two days later.
For our second appointment they didn't call despite being instructed. I've attached and example that clearly indicates: "7/22 give 30 min call ahead ants INSIDE of home 8/20."
When confronted they refunded our money and cancelled our service contract.  I guess I can't complain there. Now to find someone who can kill these ants.

First time the Alterra technician came out he sprayed and left spider traps. Said that the problem will get worse before it gets better. He was right. No reduction in ants or ticks or spiders. Came out second time for the treatment. New person told me the names of the different types of ants we have. Said that he would use some bait that will be taken back to queen and kill the nest. I'm writing this at 10 since the second treatment. No noticeable difference in the amount and location of ants. Seem to come in through garage, front of the house, back of the house, everywhere. Alterra does give a guarantee of returning to treat again but no guarantee that they will succeed in eradicating the pests. I'll keep up dating as they treat my house through the year.

I think they are average and I don’t k now if I would recommend them, over some other companies.  I am probably going to change to another company.  The price is probably a little high for what they do.

I had been calling various pest control companies to exterminate ants in my yard and to check for wasps.  Many places did not offer comprehensive care and could not go out into the yard or up toward the roof.  Alterra is licensed to go 8 feet from the house for yard bugs and up into the soffets to treat wasps.  I received the first treatment free on a Memorial Day special.  Brett S. was a courteous and informative salesman.  Zachary T. was very professional as he treated the property and very knowledgeable as he taught me about the process and the plan.
