About us

Consumer Electronics Service is a new company in Maryville. The owner, Frank DeGregorio, however, is not. He has been part of the community for over 20 years, and was brought up with electronics. At age 5, he programmed 45 pages of codes (yes, you read correctly) to create a card game on a Heathkit computer. At age 8, he assisted his father in television diagnostics and repair. When other kids made volcanoes that spewed baking soda lava for science fair projects, Frank built robots with infrared motion sensors. As a teenager at William Blount High School, Frank was well known for his custom built audio systems and many students sought his expertise in installation of their car stereo systems. Calling Frank DeGregorio an electronic wizard is an understatement. His passion for electronics has led him to open an electronic service store in his community. His business, Consumer Electronics Service, is located at 147 Cherokee Heights Drive @ (WILEY BORING CENTER), phone 865-724-1201, provides complete diagnostic and repair services for smart phones, tablets, PC’s and other electronics. For customers who choose the Fix-IT-While-U-Wait Service, a cheery fireplace and a hot cup of coffee to sip while repairs are performed awaits them. And, for the busy customer, after hours appointments are available. 15% discount available for "show us your badge".

I was told by the owner that if I brought my computer in before 3:00pm that day,  that he would possibly have it repaired the same day. He also said the charge would be $49 for 1 hr of work or $79 for 1 1/2 hrs of work, which he thought that would possibly be how long it would take to repair my computer and that I wouldn't be charged for the time that his programs were completing a scan on my computer, only the time he was actually in front of my computer.  I  brought my computer in around 1:00pm that same day and didn't hear from the owner for 24 hrs so I stopped in to the shop and he hadn't had a chance to look at it but said that he would have it done the following day.
I picked up my computer the following day and was charged $79 for 1 1/2 hrs of work on my computer. I went home and turned it on and hadn't even hooked it up to the internet and as soon as the screen opened there was the same 8x8 window that popped up saying that I had a malware bug. When I had originally called the owner he told me that he had 17 yrs experience fixing computers. I have no computer repair knowledge and could instantly tell that this computer was still infected. Plus he had charged me $79 for an 1 1/2 hrs of work that he obviously did not do. My husband called the owner of Consumer Electronics Service back and his wife answered the phone and she told him that when we turned the computer on that we had been "high jacked" and reinfected again, and he had explained to her that we hadn't went on to the internet yet. We had to return the computer once again. The computer was ready the following day. The malware bug was removed. The owner called the following day to asked if the computer was running right and we said yes. Then I later discovered that when they did my repair they had wiped out my Microsoft Professional Office programs. I luckily had my backup copy. And was able to reinstall it.
I will never return to this business again. And I question their integrity.

I was in and out within 10 minutes and because they were able to handle it quickly they did not charge me. I don't know of many businesses today that would do that. I was pleased to learn that they handle all kinds of electronics from cell phones, PC's to TV's. They charge for the labor it takes to fix the problem. They have many years experience and I would feel comfortable taking any problem to them. They said they would even find a computer used or new based on the specs you require. Definitely a business I would return to.

I had taken it to Apple for an estimate and they said it would cost $299 to repair it.

CES repaired it for $126. They were a very nice husband and wife team. They put a lot of effort into making the shop

welcoming. I hope their business does well in case I drop my ipad again. Really nice people to do business with.

They even called me a few days later to make sure my ipad was working to my satisfaction
