It started off OK -- while they did use classic hard-sell tactics, the price they quoted was reasonable, a little less than other quotes we'd received. We purchased and paid for the windows -- half the total cost -- and scheduled the installation. The day of installation, for which I took a day off work, it began to rain, and the workers told me they were going to wait a little while and return. Hours later, they hadn't returned, and no one at the company was returning my calls. This would've been fine, had they told me at 8 am that they weren't returning so I could've salvaged the work day; saying they'd return and then disappearing was unacceptable. Ultimately we rescheduled, and the windows were all replaced, including one in my shower. After the work was done, I inspected the shower -- the tiles all around the window had been cracked off, and the workers, rather than telling me about the damage, had stuck the tiles back up with clear caulk, thinking I wouldn't notice. (A ridiculous thing -- it was beyond noticeable.) I called the company and explained that I expected them to repair the damage. I was told they'd send their top guy, who had tons of experience, to repair. This gentleman came by a few days later, and did the exact same thing the workers had done, this time using tan caulk. I was floored. I called the company again, and explained that caulking over the damaged tiles wasn't acceptable, and that I expected my shower to be grouted, and in the same condition it was before their workers damaged it. They said they'd send another guy, who had tons of tile experience. When their "new guy" arrived, it was the same tan-caulk gentleman. He assured me that he'd grout the tiles correctly, and came armed with materials. He did the work and left, and it appeared to be OK. About an hour after he left, the "grout" dried, turned to sand and fell off the shower. Turns out he hadn't used grout, just the sand used to color the grout; he wet it and placed it on the shower wall, so naturally, when the water evaporated, it turned back into sand and fell off. At this point I was quite frustrated. The company sent one of the salesmen back over to assess the damage, and he claimed they'd send another guy. I responded that I'd like to get my own contractor. The salesman then had the bizarre nerve to ask for the remainder of my payment. Ultimately I did get a contractor in who fixed the tile at a very reasonable price for American Windows -- more than I should've done, considering what this company put me through. I can't express how ridiculous and awful this experience was. And about a year later, one of the windows is already starting to fog over, which means I'll have to deal with them again. Benefit from my misfortune and look elsewhere for your window needs.
Description of Work: We had all the windows on our first floor -- 10 in total -- replaced by this company.
