.This sounds a bit awkward, but Geary is actually a professional handyman. I state that with all sincerity and respect. While talking to him, I learned of the various things he can do. He is also very honest about what he doesn't do (for example, install hard wood floors), but it seems if he doesn't do something, he has somebody he can refer you to. I appreciate the fact he will be honest about what he doesn't do, as with many contractors you only learn about what they don't do after paying them to try to learn. Geary's work is very professional and he is knowledgeable. He works very quick. He is very punctual. He is respectful to you home and cleans up after himself. He has all his own tools and has what I call his Home Depot on wheels. (By the way, the parts he used were already figured into his quote, so there was no "Ad on charges" for screws/bolts/sockets and so on). He charges what I consider to be a very fair price. I would not call him cheap, but I would say he offers extreme value. My guess is if you wanted to be penny wise and dollar foolish, you might find somebody to work cheaper, but I seriously doubt you will find somebody with a better price that performs at his quality level and is as organized and punctual and very time efficient. He also added some nice touches like not nickel and diming you to death with the costs of small parts, and tightening a screw here or there. When you add on the shelving job he did for hardly any extra cost, I feel I got more than a fair deal. And again he worked quick and was on time. He didn't mess up my whole day being late and having to drive to pick up parts 3 or 4 different times. This guy is a true professional at what he does. I would consider his service a "best value" Kriste Maintenance Service gets my highest recommendations. That is something i don't say lightly. I would have no problem giving a poor review to a company that performed a poor service. Fair is fair. However Kriste was GREAT and I will use them going forward for my home repairs, and I would highly recommend you do too.
Description of Work: I used Kriste maintenance service for the first time on 3/15/13, and was very pleased with my experience. Geary came out about a 2 weeks before to provide a quote on a mixed bag of various non-emergency small projects I needed to have completed. He was only hear about 10 minutes and made a suggestion on another item, which I agreed to. Within a day or 2 (as he promised, I had his quote and I thought it was fair for the work he was going to do. We scheduled our appointment To my surprise, he showed up not only on time, but about 10-15 minutes early. I was pleasantly surprised! I had meant to confirm our appointment the day before, but did not find the opportunity to do so, due to an abnormally busy day on my part. My biggest complaint about contractors in general is that they are usually late, or have to reschedule completely, and don't even bother to call ahead to inform you so that you can go on and do something else. With Kriste, they were not only on time, but early! Very nice! Once he got here and started, I noticed he had his own truck. Not a pick -up truck, but a REAL truck. It was a box truck. This truck was basically a Home Depot on wheels. He had any and every part you needed, and then some. Most contractors spend half the day going back and forward for parts. Not the case here, he has any screw, bolt, tool, whatever you needed. For example, I needed a light socket replaced in a ceiling fan. i had bought a light socket, but it turned out not to be the right one. No problem, he had what I needed. He also had the right color (Jade Green) shutter screws to replace a shutter that had come off my house during the storm/tornado we had in Mt Juliet last month. I had paint for him to use to match, but this was not needed because he had the right color screws on his truck. He also had all the tools he needed with him. Again, very nice. He also completed some other odd jobs I had, including re-securing and leveling some shelving I have in my workout room. I have several shelves in this room, and when they were installed some were not level or aligned correctly, or secured to the wall very tightly. I had not mentioned this repair when he gave me his estimate, but he was glad to work it in to our schedule. (And charged embarrassingly little to add it to the work he did that day) . In addition to the above, Geary also repaired a ceiling light fixture that was "frozen up" in a way that I couldn't get the globe off in order to change the light bubs. When he replaced it , he put on it, what I will call for lack of a better term, a "governor", so that the globe could not get tightened again to the point that it could get stuck or frozen into the light fixture. Another nice touch. He also added some silicone into the bases of where my rod iron around my front porch go into the concrete. He did this to prevent water from sitting in the bases, which will eventually cause rust and loosening of the rod iron from the concrete bases. This was an item he suggested and I am glad I accepted. After having this done, I have noticed some other homes hat have had this done to them. I think it is a great low cost way to prevent more costly repairs latter. He got all this done in about 3 hours. He probably could have gotten it done in about 2 hours, but the add on job of the shelving took a bit of time, because he had to repair the holes in the wall from where the shelves had been previously attached in a very poor manner. It also made it more difficult to reattach the shelves. However, he was able to accommodate for the previous contractors poor workmanship, and as I stated before, he charged embarrassingly little for this extra job. While doing all this work he tightened up a few other lose screws he noticed, and also tightened up my kitchen faucet handles, which had just been installed a month ago by a plumber, apparently in a sloppy manner.
