Bought the big deal for a drain cleaning but he had to replace the whole drain, pipes, etc. Seemed a bit costly for one drain. They did credit us the $66 we paid for the big deal, but did not get credit for the value of the big deal (approx $250 I think). So basically, the big deal didn't save us any money. He did a good job though and another guy came out to give us an estimate on replacing all the pipes and moving the laundry hookups. They were both friendly and helpful.

I had a big deal purchase through Benjamin Franklin Plumbing of $79 for a home plumbing inspection. My husband got them to come and they did an evaluation of the whole house what he thought needed to be done and that kind of thing. It's more of a inspection and evaluation. We felt they might be a little high on their price. I remember him being nice and explaining to us various things as far as it goes.

Scheduling was fine. It was a satisfactory experience.

The job was to repair a cracked toilet flange and re-install the toilet. The initial quote was over $600. After the initial shock, I became very irritated and told the technician that I would find someone else to do the job. After going through several attempts by the technician to apply various discounts, I told him that I would agree to $300 just to get it over with, even though that was more than the job should have cost. He did the work for $300, but would only provide a 30 day warranty instead of their standard 2 year warranty. I asked the technician if there would be a difference in the quality of his workmanship since he was providing a very short warranty. He advised that the workmanship would be the same, which begs the question of why the warranty would be the standard. So far, the workmanship appears to be good. I have been on both sides of businesses that quote very high fees, then drop pricing until the customer finally agrees. You expect that in the car business, but this is the first experience I have had with a plumber with this business model.

They were fine. They just did a great job and they were quick.

Plumber was prompt, professional and did what was required to solve problem. My complaints were that he spent much more time trying to sell me other services than he did solving my problem. Also to pay over 350 to simply run a snake down my drain to unstop it...which took ten minutes was excessive...and that was after I got a discount for going through Angie's List.

We had emergency work done a little over a year ago and were impressed with the professionalism of this company. At that time we purchased a membership in the Benjamin Franklin Society at $7.00 per month which includes an annual inspection, which I have to say is a great service. When they came for the inspection, we already knew we had a leaking toilet downstairs but the technician also found a loose toilet upstairs. We were quoted $499 to reomove the leaking toilet, rebuild the flush valve, and reseat the original toliet. Instead we had an independant licensed plumber replace the original contractor grade toilet with a Kohler comfort height low flush toilet for $281 parts and labor included. The same plumber reseated the loose toilet, including a new flange, for an additional $130 though Ben Franklin quoted $299 w/out the flange. I love working with this company because they are easy to contact, very responsive, and the techs are professional, clean, and courteous. However, I simply cannot justify some of their prices. That being said, we had them replace a hot water heater a while ago and that price was reasonable and I've been very happy with that purchase. If you can afford them, these guys are great. If your on a budget, however, you may need to go elsewhere.

Technician determined that drain was not clogged but dishwasher motor pump was not working.

We started smelling gas in our garage. The gas company came out and found a gas leak from the water heater. He shut off the gas to the water heater and told us we needed to call a plumber to repair. We called the plumbing company that installed the plumbing in the house and they couldn't guarantee that they could work us into the schedule that day. It was cold and we needed hot water asap, so I called Ben Franklin. They were very friendly. The lady I spoke with said that their schedule was full, but she guaranteed me that they would work me in. The plumber showed up around noon and started looking at the water heater. The prices are broken down into levels depending on the problem. My water heater needed a new gas valve/thermostat. He quoted me a price for level 4, which was $449.00, or $381 if you join the Ben Franklin Society Club, which for 7.95 a month, they give you a professional safety inspection of your whole plumbing system, leak check and water heater tune-up, including flushing out the water heater, annually. I joined the club, figuring I could get the cheaper price, try out the club for a while, and if I thought it was not worth it, cancel. He repaired the water heater. After the job was finished he said once he got into it, he decided it would be better to go ahead and replace the whole unit attached to the thermostat/valve. He said that would fall into the level 5 category for a complete water heater rebuild, but since he had already quoted me the level 4 price, they would keep it at that! The water heater has been great. Actually seems to work better with the new parts installed, and I have not regretted joining the club, since I am pretty sure I want them to be my regular plumbers!

This house is a rental and we were tearing out the entire bathroom and relocating the water heater anyway, so we went with having all of the plumbing replaced. They had to come back on 3 separate occasions to finish up the work (after waiting on us to finish the bathroom), but the majority of the work was done in one day. Used the newer Pex line, so we never have to worry about freezing and bursting pipes. The crews that were sent on all occasions were young and easy to get along with, explaining each step of what they were doing and listening to our input. It was a great experience. Even though the prices seemed a little high, they knew what they were doing and did quality work.8 Co

The ,very experienced, technician came out and cleaned all the lines, identified the root problem using cameras so that I could clearly see what he was describing, called into the company and had the departmental head of yard escavation come out immediately for a dig, repair, and cost evaluation. (This man left his office in Brentwood and was at my house in 40 min. Donning his dress clothes and shoes, was in my yard kicking around in the grass and dirt, looking through the camera, and generally willing to ruin his white shirt, and mess up his shoes) I had a double confirmation on the broken pipe, a cost estimate, and a repair date scheduled within a three hour span of time. Having to schedule around rainy days, the company called and ask if we could change the date of repair to two days EARLIER because it was supposed to rain on the original dig date. They had me repaired, the yard cleaned, and problem solved before I could change my weekly planner for the next week!!! Talk about NO HASSLE, these guys are the ones I will call for My house, My parents home, and have recommended Ben Franklin Plumbing to all three of my children, who are homeowners as well. They also honor the Angies List deal for me for a lifetime. I'm impressed, and thats not an east feat. There are sooo many companies that will provide customers with excuses, shoddy work, and frustration that it causes people who need repairs to procrastinate till they can deal with it all, well Im confident that you will not have to DEAL. Service was very easy to schedule. The office staff who scheduled my appointment and the technician who came to my home (Ryan) were both friendly and professional. The work was done quickly but thoroughly and professionally. I would definitely use Benjamin Franklin Plumbing again and would recommend them to others.

My hot water pilot kept going out & the unit was leaking water. The unit was about 12 years old. When I called Benjamin Franklin Plumbers (because of an Angie's List review) they showed up that same day. The technician said that I could probably get away with another 6 months or so with the unit I had and I wasn't pressured at all into buying a new heater, but I had been having some trouble for a while and had done some research on the average life span. I figured it was time to get a new one. He didn't try to upsell me on the most costly unit or try to push me into an extended warranty. It was probably a little pricier than some but he was great, professional, and I felt very comfortable and happy with my choice. He finished the work in 2 1/2 hours.

I received a call letting me know that the service worker was on his way. He showed up about 30 min later and came in and got to work. He had an amazing attitude and got right to work. He checked the toilet and did a full inspection and replacement of the flush valve. He checked our water heater as well and we discovered there was a leak!!! He cleaned up behind himself and gave me a breakdown of what it would cost to get the waterheater replaced. He did an excellent and concise job. His name was Daniel Stark.

Our old system was a piece mill disaster made up of a "rigged" venting system connected to an old gas water heater. Daniel came out, removed the entire mess and installed the new system with professionalism and courtesy. Plus, he was on time! (tardiness from a service provider is annoying and unacceptable). He worked diligently for four hours and the result is a professionally installed, organized, slick (no more rigging) power vent hot water heater. Which works beyond my expectations! No one likes plumbing issues. Especially paying for them. But when you have a positive experiance as we did, it makes you feel your money was well spent!

This was my second time using Benjamin Franklin Plumbing. The guy was very nice and let me purchase the deal after he determined what was wrong with my toilet. Everything is still working great, over 2 months later!

The technician arrived promptly and it ended up not being a plumbing issue. He told me that it was something in the dishwasher itself, but fixed it, and it has worked properly ever since. Very nice and went above and beyond to help!

The installation went fine, however the performance was not quite as good as promised. In addition during the winter months we had several occurrences when the system shut down because the drain hose froze. The initial call with this issue was not handled well with the individual taking the call. She made guesses as to what the issue might be and until I strongly pushed for a tech to call we would have just been blown off, without hot water.

Could not recommend them more highly!

The plumber was super nice. The original $66 deal turned into a $1200 job. The last plumber left my hot water heater leaking....yes they installed it...so BFP repaired and replaced the needed parts for it. They had to come back twice on the toilet but was always courteous and clean. I would use them again.

originally they came out for the $66 dollar inspection, and when they came out i anticipated more work needing done than that. they wound up doing the complete installation for 3 commodes and replaced a 14 year old water heater that was very much on its last legs. the price quoted was very reasonable for the replacement commodes and water heater. they showed up when they said they would, had the materials on hand to handle all the necessary work (not constantly going back to the shop for something else they found they needed), got everything fixed and were back on their way. they were very professional, polite, and considerate of my family and i, and were not a problem at all. the only complaint i had with the entire engagement was not from ben franklin plumbers, but actually angie's list itself. apparently angie's list contacts the providers once the service is paid for, but after 3 days of waiting (including passing the date specified in the "we will contact you no later than" message i received when paying for the service); i contacted ben franklin plumbing, and they apologized profusely; they had not received any notification from angie's list itself. the error was quickly corrected, and they were at the house on the date we discussed, including calling to let me know they were on their way. we were very satisfied, and will use them again should the need arise.

They did a good job. The clog came back and they came back out to repair it at no additional charge. I was really happy they came back a second time at no charge.

We had a water pressure issue throughout the new home we purchased. I called these folks yesterday morning and by 10:30am I had a tech at my door. Gary listened to my problem, checked my main water preasure (108psi) what I was getting in the house (30psi) and explained that components are rated up to 75psi). He pointed out that the regulator in the house was the problem. During his inspection, he also noticed my hot water heater was partially off its stand, and another bad component on the heater that was leaking a small amount of water. Net of it is now my water pressure is 60psi, my hot water heater is no longer at an angle but is standing straight up, I received 3 new components and the water pressure through the house is great. What a great experience
