Once the details were worked out with the land survey, architect and engineer the process seemed to go fairly quickly through the foundation pour and framing. The foundation had a violation due to the re-bar not being epoxied in to the existing foundation but was quickly remedied and passed the next day. I brought in my own roofer, plumber and electrician which all went well and inspections were passed without issue. During the framing stage, the contractor opened 27' of my home to the new structure. The air space is uncontrolled in this area so, being the middle of January, my home was freezing. I complained over several days but the contractor was unable to come up with any solution. I initiated purchasing and installation of insulation between the existing structure and the addition to mitigate heat loss but the hallway was still open so I hung heavy tarps. Over the next few weeks, the contractor completed the framing and sheathing but had 4 violations on the construction and could not pass inspection to continue. That is the state that he left my home in. I have not seen him since March 12, 2013. I went to the building services office and spoke with the lead inspector who gave me all the inspection reports and corrections to be made. I grabbed a friend and had the list knocked off within 2 days. I have now passed the required inspections and am ready to proceed with construction using another contractor. The only reason I rated the price as fair is because if he had done the work it would have been.

First you should know that Mr. Handman of Mt. Pleasant is no more. This was told to me by one of the partners a Mr. Brian Elliott. The new company name is 1st Choice Remodeling & Repairs. I had what I would consider a small job. Build 1 shelf and install a cabinet door. He wants to charge $65.00 per hour. But the worst of it is he needs to building the shelving and door at a remote location. He is not honest. How can I control how long it would take for him to make the door etc.. he would be free to "run the clock" for as long as he would like. His estimate only said $65.00 an hour In this economy to charge $65.00 an hour is inconsiderate and insulting. Stay away from 1st Choice Remodeling & Repairs

They were good. They were timely and they were quick. They were very expensive though. Our experience with them was fine. They were friendly and very helpful. They were quick to respond, but they were very expensive. They were able to handle just about any need. They advertise that they can do almost anything. That comes in handy when we have several jobs that we want done that aren't related like plumbing or electrical or whatever. They can do it all. It was probably six to eight months since they came out. I can't remember the cost because there were several different things that they did and they came back more than once. The quality of work was excellent. I was comparing them to a handyman that I have at another home who is much more reasonable, but he is not in the same town either. Everything is much more expensive here.

John, the company owner, came out and did an estimate for the staining of my decks. He told me the maximum cost of the job. He sent a couple of his workers to start the job right away. Tim with the help of Steve completed the job. They were both very pleasant and professional. It was a multi day job, and John came back to check on it each day. They came back each day on time and until the job was finished. When completed, John stuck with his estimate. One of the important extra value added sevices they did (and there were others) was at the statrt of the job, They stained just a small area and then were very carefull to verify that we were happy with the stan color we had chose. Actually, we were not, and were extremely happy that they gave us the chance to pick another color. This extra care they gave our job saved us from a big mistake as the color was nothing like we thought it would be and would have been horrible. They resumed the job with the new color and we were very happy with the result.

This company provided excellent service. The workmen were very professional and personable. I am very satisfied and will certainly call them again.

There was a six week delay between ordering a horizontal metal piece for under the doors and when the project actually began, because the hardware for the doors had been discontinued. The owner kept in touch to let me know they were waiting for the order to come in he eventually did come and replace the weatherstripping, but there was still a gap under the door. A painter was there waiting to paint the doors and noticed that the space between the doors was uneven, which he pointed out the handyman replied that he would just glue it, and it was the painter who had to suggest that they screw it in, as the glue would not hold in the humidity, and he even provided the screws at no charge. When I was told the price, it seemed very high. I called the owner to question the price, and he said that it was so high because I was not aware that when they have to get additional parts to complete the job, they continue to charge the hourly rate for the entire time they are gone to find the parts. The owner ended up refunding me a portion of the price. However, the problem with the gap under the front doors was not resolved, and I would have liked to know beforehand that the weatherstripping replacement would not solve the issue.

Extremely well. The workman (Eli Tripps) was very polite and professional. He tested things to make sure they worked before he left. He was very attentive to detail and worked quickly. He was on time. His estimate, if anything was on the high side on how long it would take compared to how long it actually took. He was faster than expected.

The work went well, for the most part. The workman was polite, seemed competent, and worked efficiently. The wrong size light fixture was purchased, so all the work could not be finished. The owner of the franchise showed up while his employee was working, to check on the progress of the work, which I appreciated. However, I thought that the labor charges were high, at $120 for the first hour and $80 for each additional. The workman worked steadily, but not as efficiently as I would have liked for that price. Nevertheless, I was pleased with the work.

Dennis began with a "walk thru" of our home repair needs and answered questions with expert and cost efficient solutions. His answers were clear and easily understood. He assisted us in prioritizing our repair needs, citing urgent areas that we were not aware of. He covered our floors with cloths, wore protective covers on his shoes, and worked diligently for the entire day. He cleaned up after himself during and at the end of the day. His demeanor was highly professional and pleasant. He kept us informed at all stages of the project. We're excited to have found someone who seems almost "too good to be true", but the work looks great and we're extremely happy with our technician. The owner of the company came by to inspect the progress of the work and to get our feedback; that was an A+. The costs were fully explained before we spent money and we were advised if anything would add to our cost before we added it. We're thinking of adopting Dennis.
