PuroClean Emergency Restoration Specialists

We own a property with 2 homes on it in Georgetown, SC, but live in Canada. This is a difficult review to write because Mandy who is there office manager is very good. Dealing with her is pleasant and she has a keen sense of urgency. However, they are overwhelmed and as a result nothing gets done in a timely manner. To be fair, our story is an extremely challenging one as the tenants, who were still in place, were not handling the transition well and provided many barriers in the beginning. I think this set a tone for the whole job. Our tenants contacted a mold tester and Puroclean to test for mold in our 2 homes. Once they made me aware of this, I offered to pay for everything. The tenants' lease was not being renewed so they were leaving May 30th 2015. I was dealing with Puroclean via email an d phone, and all seemed to be going well. We got quotes from 3 mold removal companies and even though 1 was lower, i went with Mike and Puroclean because of his general demeanor and patience is answering questions with me. I went down to our property at the end of May to coordinate the move out, review the damage and make a plan for the mold removal and restoration. I met Mike and we toured the site together. Then in the coming days all h*** broke loose. Mike was obviously dealing with some personal issues and as a result he was missing appointments, sending other people to cover for him at the last minute and leaving important duties to unsupervised cleaners who were clearly not foreman or able to handle situations. After my tenants verbally abused some of the cleaners for poorly cleaning their furniture, Mike (understandably) removed his workers from the site. From this point on until the tenants were gone (which took a week) I had an armed security guard onsite, at my own expense, to ensure that Puroclean staff felt secure and protected. At this point their foreman Mike quit with no notice. My tenants, who then admitted to me that they were personal friends with him, informed me that he had told them a bunch of things about me and my house which I had discussed with him such as the cost of the work I was paying for, the integrity of other tradesman onsite and personal comments about me. I was very disappointed by this as i had tried very hard to be good to Mike, knowing his personal life was in turmoil after some deaths of friends and other tragedies. I even sent flowers. I wrote to him to wish him well and nothing back. I assumed that once the tenants were gone and that barrier to work was removed, the job would move ahead. Understandably, Puroclean was in turmoil having lost their main foreman. So I was patient at first. As time ticked away, I had to have the (empty for 3 months at this point) house retested because so much time has gone by that new mold had grown and the protocol they had written with their quote in June would no longer work. The moldy garbage left behind by the tenants was not removed when I asked, and sat in that house for 9 weeks. After months of calling and calling and begging for quotes, other tradesman and contractors I had hired being stood up and promises not being kept, I had to ask Mandy point blank if they were still interested in finishing my job. She assured me they were. I left my mold cleaner and general contractor instructions to meet with a senior person at Puroclean, to go over what needed to be done. This gentleman stood up my contractors twice. More excuses in August about some big water job and rain... I finally obtained a quote from them for the new, full job. It was actually less than the competing company's, but their blatant lack of urgency for my very situation made it so I could not choose them which was very unfortunate after I had already paid them thousands of dollars. Again, Mandy was very sweet and pleasant to deal with but she was constantly covering for others.
