Woodall, l who is a supervisor for the company. He is wonderful to deal with initially. Very professional and helpful.
It went awful. We live in back of a golf course so we have a storm drainage ditch at the back of the house that was not leveled correctly when the house was build. after a hard rain most of the rain moves into a nearby pond but we get a lot of standing water that could take a week to go away. we have young kids and I don't want snakes and mosquitos in abundance. So we called REA to fix the standing water problem. We wanted a drainage pipe put in so that standing water would flow into it and move out. We also wanted one of the areas in the back raised so that water would flow down and not collect in the area.
It started well but the guy who dug the hole did not dig it at the bottom of the ditch but up on the embankment. So when the water collects it does not go into the drainage gates. I called many times but the owner refused to reset the pipe. Finally after annoying him with texts and calls he just pushed the grates down into the ground but that did not fix the issue. Of the 4 drainage gates 2 were too high for any water to flow into. I had multiple contractors at the house tell me the same thing. these drains were useless. when I called to complain he said I don't understand how drainage ditches work and water is supposed to be in the ditch I told him that I knew that but that's why I wanted grates so that the water would flow into them. When my wife called he cursed at her.
When they were trying to raise the ground all they did was put sod over the existing sod. I even have questions on if I got the amount of sod that I was charged. he did not grade the area just put sod over it. Yes it is raised up but the area still had dips where a lot of water collects. I had to purchase sod and dirt myself to finally fix the issue. When I was watching the workers lay down the sod I had 2 of his employees come of to me and tell me the way they were told to do it was useless. I told the owner about this and he just brushed it off. I hope those 2 employees are still working and not fired for telling me the truth.
I would never hire REA Landscaping. I believe he thought the job was minimal and since it wasn't a lot of money he did a
p*** poor effort in making sure it was done properly. As of today the drain is full of mud and does not work.I am not able to leave a positive review.
April 18 I left message on voice mail of phone contact number to please call. No reply so sent text followup to same phone number April 21. Still no reply to my text from Rea. Got a recommendation April 22 from an acquaintance and ended up being same company, Rea Landscape. I contacted “Jerry”, the owner, again as he was recommended; despite my misgivings on no prior replies. He did seem receptive this time as he was given a referral. I outlined my desire to have an initial cleanup of the property I had purchased as it had been neglected. Requested vine removal, debris clean up, raking and yard mow. I advised we could look at a maintenance agreement after initial clean up. Owner visited property and quoted $300 price. However, the written quote he sent me did not include what I had requested and added services I did not want. I then emailed the specifics we had discussed over the phone initially and agreed to price. A crew came I believe April 30 and cut yard. However, rather than doing as agreed they “trimmed” shrubs that was a “hatchet job” cutting off the new growth coming from a winter trimming. I did not want or ask for trimming. While cutting yard their mower ran over 7 of 9 Century Plant low hanging leaves leaving 5 of them severely shredded from mower blades. Debris and vines still there. Yard not raked.
Contacted owner directly by email about problem on May 1. Here is email comment QUOTE As stated earlier no detailing of yard needed. Remove all vines as far as reasonable to reach, rake and remove debris and basic mowing is fine. No leveling of dirt or edging needed. Still agreeable for $300 to get the yard back in good shape to detail later and maintain. UNQUOTE. Rea crew went back May 2 and did some vine removal; however debris still there and one third of vines still on fencing and in some bushes. No raking done.
Contacted owner again and I was asked to call “Mark” who met with me May 5 and I pointed out the damage to my plants and incomplete work. He was apologetic and assured me that he would have a crew come to complete the work. He did seem sincere on doing it. I offered that if not that afternoon the following Monday was acceptable. He said he would take care of it that day, Friday. Crew came later that afternoon. I was there when they started and I had to stop them from weed spraying, something I did not ask for nor wanted as I live on a public lake. I left the property on other errands. I returned and they had left; vines were mostly gone. However; dead limbs that had fallen from trees and other ground debris still there; raking never done.
I have submitted payment in full to end this frustrating experience. I do not care about possible Rea internal communications or other problems. A verbal request plus two written requests of the work desired was not done. Based on poor performance as well as the damage to plants and shrubs, not recommended.
