Spice It Up Handyman-I Do It All!

I called Brian after several other handymen said my job (replacing screens on my upstairs outside deck) was too small for them and they didn't want to be bothered. After I contacted Brian and he agreed to come out and take a look at the job we set a time and date for our meeting. He called me just before he got there so he could assure my wife and I that he was indeed coming. He spent a good amount of time measuring and looking over the job before he gave me what I thought was a very reasonable price. I told him the job was his and he promised to get back to me the next day and schedule my job. The next day he called and told me he could fit me in the next Friday. Thursday night Brian again called and said he would be at my house between 9:00 and 9:30 AM. At about 9:05 he pulled up in front of my house. He unloaded and started working right away. He took care to place his ladder so that the flowers we had planted in our garden would not be damaged. He moved the deck furniture as necessary and worked continuously until the job was done. He stuck with the job all day without even breaking for lunch. After he was finished, he cleaned up the area and disposed of the old screening leaving our deck as it was before he came. The quality of his workmanship was nothing short of excellent and he acted in a truly professional manner. My wife and I were both extremely pleased with Brian's attitude and work skills. All in all, it was a bargain. We have no reservations whatsoever of having him do more work for us.

A roof leak caused us to have to tear out a piece of ceiling directly over top of the crib in our nursery. Due to the location, we had put a piece of drywall in the hole to prevent insulation from falling out. It was a horrible patch job with large gaps around the edges and we left it unfinished. Brian was able to come in and patch the edges, then plaster the drywall and finish it to a very close match to the rest of the ceiling. I was straight forward beforehand with saying I just wanted as close a match as possible. Other providers I spoke with wanted to scrape and refinish the whole ceiling which would come with a large bill. Seemed silly for an area that was only about 3x2 ft. Brian was able to come a few days after I called him and even came on a Friday evening to fit us in. I was extremely grateful as we had another baby the following week! I was slightly nervous since he charges by the hour so didn't know how much time it would take but he estimated the time beforehand and came in right on the dot. Material charges were minimal since we had already put drywall up. I was very pleased with his service and professionalism. Barely even knew he was here! He gave me detailed instructions on what to do when the plaster dried and I am very satisfied with the results.

He was great! He worked right along for two days straight without breaks.that I could see. He cleaned everything up very nicely and was very professional and personable. I am hiring. him again for a lot more work before I sell my house.

It didn't. I never heard from him.

It went very well, no un-expected surprises. All of the work was performed in a very timely manner.

He charges 65 Dollars an hour. The service went very well. He was punctual. There was a list of things that I needed him to do, he gave me a quote, he was fast and efficient, and he charged me a reasonable price. He was very professional, even at giving me a quote. I was going to use him for another project, but I got someone else who was lower. If he tells you that he will be there at such and such a time, he will be there on time. I think his price is a little high.

He's very good in communicating, like a week after he had installed the laundry top, he called me to make sure everything is still okay, and good with follow-up. Once he does the job, he'll call you to make sure you're still please with it and gets back to you when you call him too. He does everything.

The job was done quickly and problems created by the previous provider were resolved.

Brian was very accommodatiing and was very good with coming up with the best way to do the job. He tries very hard to please his customers and is very good about getting back when he is contacted. I've used him twice & plan to in the future., PA

He quoted me $550/day and estimated that it would take 2 days. He got approximately 5% of the total work that he said he could accomplish done in that amount of time. My biggest complaint is that he misrepresented the amount of time it would take him by a long shot. I had to take everything out of my Armoire and it is just sitting on a sheet in my bedroom for the time being since he said couldn't make it back out until December 9th. So I will have to put everything back in which is a complete waste of my time when it could have been done already. I thought that the work that he actually got done(patching and painting) was done very unprofessionally. I just thought that since I was paying a high price I would get a lot better quality work. Not the case in this situation. In the game room there is half of a finished ceiling where rafters are exposed. I asked him to remove wood pieces that were supporting a piece of workout equipment. He pried out a part of the wood and when I told him that it wasn't OK, he told me to just paint over it with black paint to match the rest of what was there. UPDATE: I a not surprised but I think he has "missed" the point. Even with an additional day, Brian could not finish the work he promised. Here is a list of what was still to be done that his "proverbial" 3rd day would have fixed. Replace 31 kitchen cabinet pulls including removing facing pieces to access Paint 2nd coat on bedroom walls Paint additional coat on bedroom dresser Paint 2 full coats on all woodwork and trim in bedroom (3 windows, closet and baseboard) Mortar apron on porch and paint Paint 2 full coats garage wall and entire unfinished basement Clean dryer vent Sand and paint 2 bookshelves Repair plumbing leak under sink and replace with new faucets I am sorry but even if you were Santa Claus and could slow down time, obviously this could not be completed in one 8 hour day! As for the rafter, he NEVER said this! I asked for it to be removed and he walked over and took a crowbar from my own workbench and then started at it. This was the most totally UNPROFESSIONAL behavior I have ever witnessed.

He contacted me right away and set up a date to come do the jobs. He worked fast and was very professional.

It went great. Brian returned all my phone calls promptly, as well as called the night before to confirm. He was able to do the work within 2 weeks of my first call. Originally I thought our laundry room fixture needed to be replaced, but Brian suggested I try replacing both fluorescent tubes. This worked, so I didn't need him to replace the fixture. I was concerned that the drywall patch to the ceiling would be difficult to blend into the rest of the textured ceiling, but Brian did a great job matching the textures. He worked non-stop from the moment he arrived and got the jobs done in short order. Thanks again, Brian. I look forward to hiring you again.

Brian was really a blessing to us. I contacted him through Angie's List and he responded promptly. We had a list of exterior work that we wanted to have done and he did it all efficiently. He replaced shutters on six windows, removed a rotting overhang, power washed our moss stained retaining walls and driveway and cleaned the gutters. In a few weeks he is coming back to do some electrical updates for us. He is polite, professional and calls the day before to confirm the job. I would not hesitate to recommend him.

I contacted Mr. Spicer and he was able to fit me into his schedule within two days. He arrived on time and completed the work as quickly as possible given that he is paid by the hour. He gave me an approximate cost before I agreed to hire his services, and he charged me exactly what was quoted, even though he worked a few minutes beyond the one hour he estimated it would take him to install the ceiling fan. I would call him again for other routine repairs of my home. The only negative is the additional service charge that he applies to his hourly fee.

I found Brian easy to work with and he arrive on time. He worked nonstop for almost 10 hours and require no supervision to insure the work was done in a professional manner. He cleaned up after the work was done. Brian arrive at 9:00 am sharp to start the work. We had a powder room that we wanted finished that I couldn?t complete to do a death in the family. He finished patches, repainted, trim work, hung items we purchased for the powder room. To finish off the powder room he installed an electrical fixture, faucet, and a toilet. He also re-plumped the sink with a new drain to make my wife happy. After finishing the powder room, Brian went downstairs to install a new faucet in our downstairs kitchen that my son he broke. It took about hour which was much faster than I could have done it. Brian is truly a handyman and was able to tackle any task we threw at him. We are very happy with the quality of his work and will use him in the future. Thanks Brian!

Left a message for a quote and received a call back the same day. Brian happened to be in our area on another job and was able to stop by and give us a estimate. Work was scheduled for 3 days later. He arrived at the designated time and surveyed the job for supplies and came back after going to the store. Job was completed in a hour. Very satisfied with the job. Great attention to detail. Reasonable cost. Highly recommend.
