Description of Work: From day one I was as cordial as possible to this kid and his workers. His work began in the fall of 2013,: paint walls, patch drywall on ceiling, install toilet and vanity, switch a couple of doors, and most importantly install new hardwood floors throughout first floor. This is where the trouble began. |Jim suggested gluing the floor directly to the concrete slab and after 5 minutes of my own research I realized that sub- floors were necessary. Jim agreed and had his men nail down but not also glue plywood sections throughout the floors. I immediately noticed the sub- floors were buckling and Jim's helpers came back to further secure the floors with more nails (still no glue). | When the time came to install the actual floors, much to my surprise a non-English speaking gentleman and his wife arrived for the job. I bit my tongue and figured all would work out since they were all "professionals". | Problem one was immediately noticeable. The sub-contractors failed to mix up the boxes of flooring leaving an almost patchwork look to the floors since each box of wood is slightly different in shade mixing them solves that problem. |Although I was already angry with the results and Jim had no solutions whatsoever to offer, I told him we could call it even if he agreed to do my staircase with no labor costs. |Soon after that job was done I noticed the next problem.... the floors were already buckling in several areas. | Jim agreed to come look at the situation and assured me he would have the problem rectified, saying it was the subcontractors fault and they would fix at no cost. |Once the subcontractors came out to look, they instantly told me what I already knew: the sub- floors were the problem. I learned this by having 2 other contractors come to see the issue. |Jim could not believe it was his fault and told me he had no intention of paying to tear up the floors and replace. Jim said he the other flooring guys were going to hash out a plan and take care of the situation. |By this point we are 1 1/2 years into this contracting job that should have taken 2- 3 weeks max. We were in communication throughout November of 2014 when I received my final correspondence from Jim on December 1st. Jim told me he was in a meeting and would call me back in 30 minutes. I waited until the 8th of December to text him again...nothing. Further texts were sent by me Dec. 11th, 29th, Jan.5th, 12th, and finally the 24th. Never a response. I think the man truly believes the issue will go away if he ignores it. | Each of my unanswered texts were friendly messages suggesting he finish the job he was hired to do and was ultimately responsible for. NO RESPONSE. |I then contacted the sub-contracter and his number was no longer in service. |I have given up trying to get this man to finish this job but do feel he should be held accountable. So now have no other recourse but to call him out on Angie's List, Contact the Better Business Bureau, and contact a lawyer. |My patience has reached it's limit and I do not want to see this kid continue to do bad work and leave innocent homeowners stuck with the horrible aftermath. |I am anxiously awaiting a Jim Hunt response and defense over this. Everything written here is the truth and he knows this. I have saved each texts dating back to 2013 to back it up. |DO NOT USE THIS KID... |p.s. I left out other shoddy work only because the floors are my major concern at this point.

Description of Work: Phoned him on 12/6/14 concerning an estimate for redoing my powder room and locating a leak therein. He said he was working in the area and would drop by around 2 PM to look at the job. Later that day he called back and rescheduled our appointment for 8:30 AM on Saturday, 12/6/14. He never showed or called me to cancel the appointment.

 + 0 morePrior to Jim coming out, i punched a hole in my garage ceiling to see if it was insulated and to my surprise it was. So, I called jim to tell him this news, and inform him i would only need electrical done. Jim took 15mins on the phone telling me about possible air leaks and how to address them myself, which is a cost saver, and referred me to his electrician for the additional outlets. Super nice guy and willing to help out, without asking for any compensation.
Description of Work: Jim was going to give an estimate on demo'ing a garage ceiling to insulate then drywall and run additional electrical.

 + 1 moreJim was very quick to respond and help me schedule this job. He arrived with a small team that got right to work with the various jobs I needed help with. Everyone on the team was very professional, friendly and hard working, with Jim acting as a hands on leader for the job. He personally led the lion share of the drywall work while also directing the team and handling many of the nail pops himself. The quality of the work is outstanding and it was completed in a timely manner. After requesting help with a small number of nail pops, Jim took it upon himself to discover more nail pops throughout the house and was able to help make everything perfect. He went well beyond the agreed to scope of work and did not charge a dime above the price that we agreed to ahead of time. At the end of the day he didn't even accept an offered tip. I came away very impressed with Jim's integrity and quality of work and feel like I got very good value for the investment. I would definitely recommend Hunt General Contracting to a friend and plan to use them again when the next handyman need arises at my own home, whether it is a small or a large job.
Description of Work: Jim and his team helped me fix two sections of drywall in a closet and on a ceiling, install an extensive amount of trim, install a peep hole in the front door and fix a bunch of nail pops around the house.

 + 0 moreJim and his crew had repainted the interior of our home for us. Many months later, the two-story pitched ceiling had a nail pop. We called Jim to see if he could come out and fix it. He came the next afternoon on his way home from his workday. He brought scaffolding with him. He moved the furniture, tarped the area, set up the scaffolding. He then made the repair and painted the area. He cleaned the area and moved the furniture back in place. JOB DONE!! When I asked him the cost for the repair, he told me NO CHARGE!! That was a pleasant surprise and much appreciated.

 + 4 moreThe whole experience was GREAT! From the initial meeting I had a good feeling and when I got the quote I had a great feeling. Not only was Jim well lower than the other two quotes but his contract proposal was by far the easiest to understand. When I called the other providers I noticed Jim involved all aspects of the project, spelled everything out and ultimately followed through with everything. Jim and his crew showed up on time each day, were professional with my family and remained clean the entire time. Ooo did I mention, I found him just days prior to thanksgiving 2012 and was scheduled to host Christmas like we do every year. He was the talk of Christmas! I since have referred Jim to a family member who attended the holiday with us and would do it again! Thanks to Jim and all his crew!!! Great job!

 + 0 moreJim and his crew showed up every morning on time and ready to work. Everyone that came in to the house was professional, courteous and extremely polite throughout the time they were working. Before any work started, Jim came to the house to get a clear picture of what we wanted done in our basement and was very detailed in how he would go about making the changes we wanted. His suggestions and knowledge about the upcoming project made you want to have it done right away. He gave a clear time frame for how long it would take to complete the renovations and stuck to that schedule. Jim and his crew had the walls framed out, electrical wired, and walls/ceilings up within days. Their work was consistent each day and we saw progress towards the finished project each time we walked downstairs. They were clean and kept things very organized. If we had any questions, Jim or any member of his crew were able to keep us informed about what they were doing and how the next phase of the remodel would go. Throughout the process, they were also very helpful in giving suggestions on how we could paint or even set up of what would be the future "man cave." We are beyond ecstatic about the job that was done from the finishing work (crown molding, detailed window boxes, and overall aesthetic look), to the time in which it was completed, and the professionalism that Hunt General Contractors showed throughout the entire process. Would highly recommend and will absolutely use in the future.

Jim and his crew were always pleasant, punctual and produced very clean work-- extensive work was completed in my house for a week and a half and you would have no idea that they were here (all surroundings were covered and protected with plastic) They truly treated my house like it was their own. Most impressively, Jim was able to locate and fix a leak in my dining room that numerous other contractors were unable to remedy. Even after all of the rain we have had over the past year my ceiling remains bone dry! Incredible!

I searched Angie's list and found some drywall guys that had excellent reviews and called them to come out and give me an estimate to fix the ceiling and to finish drywall on one side of our garage. I chose Hunt General Contracting because he was prompt and his price was fair. Hunt was also prompt in providing the estimate and arriving to do the job. He was very professional and we were pleased with his work. We would definitely use his services again.

 + 7 moreMy son had work done in his house by Hunt General Contracting, he was very happy and so he recommended them to us. We had water damage in our basement due to a leak from the floor above. Jim Hunt and his team removed and replaced the walls and ceiling with drywall (drywall work is smooth and perfect). They put in a new door to the heater room, new baseboards, trim, crown moulding and a new slider window. We never had a railing going down the stairs to the basement. We wanted something sturdy and inexpensive that looked good. Jim's team had a great idea and we are very happy with the railing they built. They then painted all the walls, ceiling, doors, wood trim, baseboards, etc. They also were able to repair the buckled hardwood floor on the floor where the leak occurred. It looks great. Jim and his team were a pleasure to work with. They all were pleasant, helpful, punctual, professional and neat. All work was done according to the estimate and within the timeframe given us. We are very pleased with the drywall, carpentry and painting done in our home by Hunt General Contracting. We highly recommend them.

 + 6 morethe workers were on time everyday starting early and significant progress done each day. very efficient with detail, by suggesting ideas along the way that would benefit me as the customer being satisfied, as well as saving the most money for the best look. very knowledgeable about various skills needed to perform and complete the job 100%. i was very satisfied for the job that was completed. i have a brand new basement, and it only took a week to finish. i would highly recommend this company for any basement or home renovation.

 + 1 moreMr. Hunt and his crew were prompt and professional at all times. The project was completed in just 4 days..The room he renovated was quite large. The walls required two coats of paint. Mr. Hunt and his crew did a great job. I have a brand new bedroom. I will hire him again and certainly recommend him to my friends and family.
Description of Work: Provider removed ceiling tiles from 2nd floor attic/bedroom and replaced with drywall. The walls are paneled. Mr. Hunt filled in the panels, then covered with a skim coat of spackle. He also installed baseboards as there had been none before. All surfaces were painted and all debris and dust removed. The room is 15 X 34 with built in closets that make for some tight spaces.

 + 4 moreThe job went quite well. I found Hunt Contracting on Angie's list and sent an e-mail. Jim Hunt responded promptly, and within a day, he was out to look at the work I wanted done. He took measurements and told me that he would get back to me with a proposal. In less than 48 hours, I received an -email with the proposal attached. I understood everything he planned to do. I got a very detailed proposal plan with the final cost and the payment arrangements. I e-mailed back to say that I accepted the proposal and the work was scheduled immediately, and was scheduled to be completed within three days. Jim and two crew members arrived by 7:30am, worked through the day. The job was very clean. Everything was covered up. They brought their own dry/wet vac. Hunt General Contracting was very professional and efficient. The payment arrangement, which I agreed to, was 50% down and 50% when the job was completed. Since this project had a three-day completion date, money up front was within expectation. Additionally, because I was an Angie's list member, I received the 5% discount. I am very pleased with the work. I now have three linen closets, and together, they are larger than the walk-in closet they replaced. The closets change the entire appearance of the bedrooms, giving them a more up-to-date look. I am very pleased with Hunt General Contracting. The company is first-rate, and the work is outstanding. I would recommend Jim's company to anyone who wants a really good hassle-free job and a very professional crew in your home.
Description of Work: Hunt General Contracting remodeled three closets. I had recently used a large walk-in hall closet in the center of four bedrooms for space to install a separate shower in a master bath. Having used the large hall closet for a shower, I now needed to find space for additional storage. I had a large bedroom closet over seven feet wide in each bedroom. The bedrooms were adjoined by a Jack & Jill bathroom. I had Hunt General Contracting to convert the closets in each bedroom into two spaces: a clothing closet and a linen closet, thus providing two nice size linen closets approximately 30 inches wide and two clothing closets over four feet in wide. In another bedroom with a smaller closet, I had the closet updated with new bi-fold doors. The job included demolishing the existing structures, carpentry to install new door casings,shelving, installing new drywall, baseboards, sanding, and painting.
