ESP Painting

I set up a meeting with Eric for an estimate and he was able to come out to my home in person within a few days. Eric was extremely professional and knowledgeable when he came to my home and answered all of my questions. The ESP estimate was the most expensive out of the four I received, but I decided to go with ESP because of how comprehensive and professional Eric was when talking with him about the job (relative to the other estimates) - I wanted my garage done right and I wanted it to look the best it could! Eric and few other gentleman came out to the house and completed the job on time (within a few days) and did a good job of cleaning up afterward. Although I expected a high quality job from ESP, I was very pleasantly surprised when I saw the end result!!! ESP did an outstanding job on my garage!!! I will definitely use ESP again in the future and will recommend to my family and friends!!! Thanks Eric!!!

The quote from ESP Painting was very detailed, but it did not provide an itemized description with cost by specific work to be performed. We were only provided with a lump sum of $16,500. We understood the magnitude of our project, but also have had extensive experience working with painters on our previous homes in Indiana (state), Venetia, PA and our second home in the Outer Banks, NC. If this was our first home to be remodeled we may have agreed to this proposal without question. However it was not! Our concerns were confirmed when we we contacted other professional painters and their quotes were half of what ESP quoted. Not only were they less they provided us a detailed proposal with itemized cost for each room. Therefore, we are not questioning ESP Paintings ability to do a quality paint job, but the amount we were quoted. When we contacted our concierge service to let them know about our dissatisfaction with Mr. Piacenti's responded by belittling our home as well as our intelligence. The following is the email that we sent to our concierge as well as Mr. Piacenti's email. In all the experience we have had with contractors we have never come across someone so unprofessional. We found Mr. Piacenti calling our $360,000 3200 square foot home in Franklin Park an entry level tract home insulting. Our email: ESP Painting - Eric on the other hand did not listen to our needs. We specifically stated that we did not need the house to be put back into brand new condition. We only wanted to repair any issues that were easily seen after paint ie. cracks, nail holes, but not minor imperfections in the drywall. However, due to his lack of listening to our needs his quote was far higher than we expected. We have done extensive work on our house in Indiana as well as had a house painted in Venetia, PA in 2003. So we had a price point that we were expecting. In fact, after our meeting we expected Eric's quote to high, but did not expect it be double what other painters quoted us. In addition, we expected when we contacted you for referral that we would not only be provided with a list of excellent craftsmen, but also pricing within reason. When we received his quote (attached) it was not itemized by area. Therefore, we have no idea exactly what we were being charged for. For 16 areas including trim and ceilings ESP quoted us $16,500. This is double what the painter we hired is going to charge us. We strongly feel that ESP was trying to take advantage of their relationship with Coldwell Banker Realty and our confidence in the referral by quoting us such a ridiculous amount. I'll try to be objective as I can, however I'm highly insulted at the tone of this email and the questioning of my services and my company. PLEASE READ CAREFULLY WHAT I HAVE TO SAY BELOW. IN ADDITION, PLEASE READ CAREFULLY AS TO WHAT I HAVE TO SAY BELOW WHICH IS IN LARGE, BOLD TYPE, AS RESPONSES IN THE ORIGINAL EMAIL SENT TO PENNY. PLEASE READ IT TWICE TO UNDERSTAND FULLY. First of all, I've been in business for 17 years, the last 6 as a valuable member of the Coldwell Banker Concierge and have completed hundreds of projects in very high end, custom homes. And also basic entry level, tract home such as yours. Your project, Dave and Julie, is what we do day in/day out. You have a 14 room house. NOT COUNTING IN THE ROOM TOTAL A LARGE ENTRY FOYER/STAIRWELL/UPPER HALL. You have an unfinished garage. You want all surfaces of these rooms/areas painted. All interior rooms are dirty, dusty, nails/screws/holes everywhere. You want all surfaces repaired/patched/caulked, sanded, primed, and and painted. Including closets. Two coats. And want to change colors on all surfaces. I can give you myriad of projects that have the same scope, and larger, of the amount of work that needs done, and have same/similar costs. And higher costs. You asked me to provide an estimate on everything but ceilings, after I did my walkthru and saw every ceiling is diry/dusty/marked up, with grease on the kitchen ceiling by the stove, and advised you that all they needed done. You did not recognize that they needed done prior without me pointing this out. I pointed out that the fireplace trim had gaps where it meets the brick and wall, and that it all needed caulked. I even recommended that clear caulk would look the best as it would not smear onto the brick like a white caulking. I even pointed out on the paint from the prior painting, and said we would clean it. Again, things you did not notice. You are having new shoe mold installed, which adds even more to the prep work. as in puttying all of the recessed nail holes, and caulking everywhere it meets the baseboard. You are also having all new hardwood flooring and carpet installed prior to the painting. You want all of the painting done by June 6th. WE HAVE A FULL SCHEDULE OF WORK AT ALL TIMES, AND I WAS WILLING TO DELAY OTHER CUSTOMERS IN ORDER TO ACCOMMODATE YOUR NEEDS. I can go on as to the level of detail that I incorporate into all of my proposals and thus into the actual work performed. I'M SO INCREDULOUS AS THE ADVERSARIAL NATURE OF THIS TRANSACTION THAT I CAN BARELY TYPE. I'VE NEVER, EVER HAD MY PROFESSIONALISM IMPUGNED. With all due respect, I honestly believe that you aren't' comprehending the magnitude of the project. This project has no relation to a project you had in Indiana, or in Venetia back in 2003. I'm not going to defend myself anymore. I shouldn't have had to in the first place. Penny, you know our track record, not to mention the high-end homes we've painted for Concierge customers and also Relo. We would treat this project no different. I can provide many testimonials from CB agents, as well the dept. head of Relo as to the successful completion of projects of this size, and much nicer, custom homes, with same/similar costs. AS YOU CAN SEE FROM WHAT I'VE SAID ABOVE, AND WHAT YOU'LL SEE THAT I'VE SAID BELOW, I KNOW WHAT I'M SPEAKING ABOUT WHEN IT COMES TO IMPECCABLE WORK AND CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. I LIVE HER IN THE SAME COMMUNITY, AM MARRIED WITH TWO CHILDREN, AND PROVIDE A STABLE EMPLOYMENT FOR 7 MEN. I DIDN'T GET TO THIS POINT BY TAKING ADVANTAGE OF MY RELATIONSHIP WITH COLDWELL BANKER AND PRECIOUS CUSTOMER BASE THEY PROVIDE TO ME, AS I'VE BEEN UNINTELLIGENTLY ACCUSED BELOW. Therefore, any rebuttal Mr. Piacenti will not undue the harsh tone of this email and lack of professionalism. Unfortunately, he has not learned that you should never put anything in email that you do not want to be shown to potential customers.

The two men who worked on the job arrived early, were very professional and left the place as clean as when they arrived. The work was top quality. The work took the exact amount of time predicted. I would definitely recommend this service.

Eric was very good about coming out to give us an estimate promptly. The start of the work was delayed a little longer than I would have liked, but given the excellent reviews, I thought it was worth the wait. I wasn't disappointed! Their work was outstanding! I never felt the least bit uncomfortable having them in my home, either when I was there or when I wasn't. There were only two minor issues, both of which were outweighed by their excellent work. I specifically asked that one of the two showers be usable at all times, even if that meant the job would take longer, and that was not the case. I had to move stuff (step stool,, ,etc) out of the shower every time I needed to use it. Also, they did leave my front door unlocked one evening. while they did accept full responsibility for it, it didn't make me feel any better about entering a dark house late at night by myself. That said, I would hire them again in a heartbeat as the quality of the work was incredible.

Eric and his team provided excellent suggestions on choices and worked hard at providing a high quality job. They were professional, courteous and did a good job cleaning up after the job. We would definitely have them back in the future - I am reasonably handy and have a problem when I look at a job I'm paying for and feel that I could have done better, I couldn't have done better on this job!

The wallpaper had been on the walls for more than 30 years and was difficult to remove, but they did an excellent job. They also repaired some water damage to the ceiling in one of the hallways. All nail holes were patched and smoothed. One spot where a wall had previously been removed, they smoothed and finished. All the work was very professional with extreme attention to detail, including smoothing over any little dings and scratches in the walls to give them a "new-house" look. The workers took care to protect everything from drips and splashes and cleaned up after themselves every day and thoroughly at the end of the job. One of the painters even saved us from a $40 service call by diagnosing a problem we were having with our garage door! Everyone who worked on the project was extremely professional and courteous.

He gave me a very thorough typed bid. He showed up when he said he would and he called me back very quickly.

They are neat as a pin- excellent painters! I would definitely hire them again.

They worked with us to find a good time for the two weeks that it would take to complete the painting. It was our choice to get the painting done before winter rather than do it then for a large discount.There were usually three painters working on two different areas. They started on the second floor and came down. A painter came each Saturday to move the process forward so that it was done on time. As we found additional things we wanted them to paint, Eric figured out the cost and they did them promptly, never cutting corners. Although all the painters smoked, they never smoked in the house. We were impressed with their professionalism. They moved some large, heavy furniture in the living room that we could never move. Eric helped us in deciding which types of paints to use on the woodwork, walls, and ceilings in the different rooms. His advice was always excellent. We are very, very happy with the way everything turned out. I recommend them highly, and would call them, first if we ever need painting done again. The painters live in various parts of the Pittsburgh area, so they can cover the area if new opprtunities occur.

When I contacted Eric to provide an estimate, he arrived on-time, and was professional in all aspects of this phase of the work. He is an excellent communicator and kept regular contact once the estimate was accepted until the job was done.

We are still getting other estimates.

You just can't do better than ESP Painting. ESP is truly a professional painting company. Their prices are fair, the quality is excellent as well as their clean-up. Eric oversees the process from start to finish. If you just want some paint slapped on a wall for a cheap price, then ESP is not for you. However, if you want a true professional paint job call ESP

We did call ESP Painting to get an estimate for him to paint the outside of our house and stain the sundeck and railing. He did say that he would be there Mon. or Tues between 9-5 and he would call 2 hours ahead of time. We did not see him and he called on Tues. at 6:00 p.m. I told him that we did not need his services and we chose someone else. I have no idea what kind of painter he is, what kind of job he would have done, or what the price would have been. I was just upset that he did not call or come for the estimate.

My experience with ESP was great. Eric came to walk through the house and took notes on each area. He emailed me a price estimate and also an expected start date. Once the crew arrived, they prepared the house with drop cloths and went to work. Once they started on the job they were here until finished. I ended up adding some work to the project and they were able to complete everything in a timely manner. The crew was friendly, professional and hardworking.

Eric chose the colors used and had his crew of four to five members do an excellent job in minimal time. I couldn't ask for a better outcome or any nicer people doing the work. Considering the size of the project (4 bedroom, 2 story colonial) I was impressed with their professionalism, their attention to detail, and the friendly manner in which I was treated. The house has never looked this good in thirty years. These are the folks you'll want to use for your needs or those of your parents. At 62 years of age, I know a good deal when it falls in my lap. This was a GREAT DEAL.

Project was required because of storm damage to rooms in back of my house, last winter. Biggest problem was the time period between estimates (May) and start of work (July) (ESP had a backload of other projects - probably due to winter damage). Once work got started, everything went well. Excellent Work, Very Professional. All of the workers were great to deal with. I would hire them again.

Inquired via website for consultation and quote. Response was within two business days. Services and price were agreed on shortly thereafter. Work started as promises. Turned out looking great.

Performed the job exactly as he said he would - staff were very corteous and professional.

Unbelievably professional - so much so that I recommended them to friends after the first meeting and even before the work was begun. I continue to have a high opinion of Eric, the owner, and the entire crew and have passed out their business card to several people. They were flexible and helpful in giving advice and working within my budget. I will bring them back to do more work!

I was very pleased with the work that was completed and would definitely use ESP painting again and recommend the company to others. Eric was very responsive and his team was nice too. I found a few minor items and told Eric about them and they were taken care of the very next day. The inside of the house looks great and they cleaned up after themselves!

Eric came over and gave us an estimate and two weeks later his crew of three came over to work. The job took 3 days, they were neat prompt and courteous.

We chose ESP painting due to the high ratings on Angie's list and they delivered on all we expected. They were flexible in scheduling the project, were prompt and courteous while on the job, and their work was impeccable. We already plan on using them for a future project.

Overall I am very pleased with quality of work. I will say that no matter how well you check the work on the final walk through something is always missed. Even though I have paint for touch ups I wished I would of had them paint a test patch I could carry with me when picking out assories. One of the painters did hit the wall in my driveway and knock down some bricks and I did have to tell Eric rather than the painter comming to me and telling me. The broken wall was then repaired at the painters expense. I would still hirer this company again.

We just bought a house and wanted the wallpaper removed and rooms painted. Eric gave us an estimate on the work, and started the day after our closing (a Saturday) so we could have the work done ASAP. The crew that came to the house started early in the morning and stayed until almost 5. The work was done in a week, and the rooms looked beautiful. Eric did a great job in giving a recommendation for the wall color and stain for the woodwork. I was extremely pleased with the quality of the work and the professionalism of the crew, and will definitely be using them in future for other painting jobs.
