Glen is very professional in his dealing until this incident. He gave a good written estimate. I was very particular about the cherry wood color floor in my kitchen to match the rest of the hallway extending from the kitchen floor. It is engineered floor with real wood top layer. He was not able to find anything close but wanted me to go with him/meet him at this place to match the sample from my current floor. I had to cancel a twice because these places are open during work hours and I was especially busy to go the limited hours on Saturday. When I gave him the loose piece of wood from my existing floor as a sample I told him specifically NOT to lose and I wanted it back which I reiterated multiple times. I also told him when I cancelled the second time that please hold on to the loose board. When my work load got lighter and I called him that I was ready he said that he and quot; threw out the sample because you had not called and I thought you did not need this sample anymoreand quot;. I now have no more loose pieces to match and it has been so aggravating since I have to bring samples home now to see they do not match.

1. Flooring issues--poor installation, poor wood quality used. They claim they did a good installation, but the wood was bad. They proceeded to finish laying the floor even after we advised them that the boards were not flush and there were sharp edges throughout. They are the professionals, we would expect that they would know the difference between good and bad wood! 2. Crooked drywall seams. 3. Floor protection failed, condition of carpets not left in same condition when project started. When we complained, they advised us to use some Woolite! 4. Use of unlicensed electrician for project. We were told at estimate appointment they would use a registered electrician. 5. They broke some tiles in our bathroom while placing a vent, which we had no problem with. The repair job was horrible! If only we could post a picture on here! They actually weren't surprised when we complained. They did make it better, but the fact that they thought we would accept the first repair was unbelievable. 5. Project not finished on time, not only due to shipping delays which they could not help, but once product was delivered, we had to be “worked in” between other projects. We were promised that they would work from start to finish. Project was to take 26 days, took more than 3 months!! POOR EXPERIENCE--POOR QUALITY!!
Description of Work: AC Remodel was hired to finish an attic space. Half of it was usable and the other half was unfinished. Both spaces were connected to form an attic room. They supplied electrical, put in 2 closets, a built in bookshelf, placed drywall and installed a new hardwood floor. They also placed drawer units into the kneewall space in this room and in the hallway of our master bedroom. They also placed a vent for a register in our bathroom that came in from the attic space.

Response from AC REMODEL
You can't please every customer. We bent over backwards to please this client and eventually gave up. This post was not made by the homeowner of record who signed the contract but his wife who is dedicated to slandering our company wherever she can. We really tried hard with this one and even refunded the total cost ($2,941) of the flooring and labor for installation. She insisted we pay extra to have another flooring installer replace the floor to make it “perfect”. When we asked for binding arbitration to resolve our differences they demurred and cashed the refund check. A condition of cashing the check was that all issues were resolved and that we were no longer under contract with the homeowner. She still took us to the BBB and when the BBB sided with our company she took it personally and is now out, trying to do damage to our company wherever she can. We still maintain an A+ rating with the BBB, even after this issue. To respond to her issues: 1. FLOORING: Our supplier delayed shipment 3 times in three weeks - lengthening the project time. We offered to find an alternative supplier and she said already found a Lumber Liquidators product she wanted. We had not done business with Lumber Liquidators before but registered as a contractor with them to get them the best price possible for the homeowner. Even with our contractor discount the price was much higher than through our supplier. As a good will gesture, we split the cost of the material and refunded all shipping costs with the homeowner to help the project along. The flooring was improperly milled and the tongue and groove varied enough to make the surface a bit uneven. This happens with any ¾” pre-finished flooring but Lumber Liquidators product was particularly bad. Do an Internet search "Lumber Liquidators Rip-Off" and you'll see what we mean. We replaced over 30 boards to bring the floor within national flooring standards. She still wasn't satisfied. We offered to hand sand the existing floor to guarantee a flush surface and refinish it and she refused. We offered to replace the floor with raw oak, sand it and finish it and she refused. She then said we had installed the floor improperly and she wanted a new floor. To prove our point, we offered to have a Lumber Liquidators Installer replace the floor with the same material provided she accept the floor installed "as-is" by Lumber Liquidators. She accepted that offer but placed a condition on it that the floor “will have to be perfect". Given the product issues and intractability of the client’s wife, we refunded their money for the flooring material and installation. She refused and wanted more. We then asked for binding arbitration as per our contract and she refused and cashed the refund check. We don't understand why she has taken this personally. We were always respectful and polite in our dealings. 2: CROOKED DRYWALL SEAMS: This is the first we've heard they were unhappy with the drywall. The house was built in 1937 and the attic framing was very crooked. We re-framed part of the area but could not re-frame the roof. Given all of the odd angles and the uneven roof rafters, it was impossible to get a perfect seam. Our drywall subcontractor said it was one of the most difficult jobs he had done. 3: FLOOR PROTECTION: We placed slightly adhesive carpet protector down in and around the work area. The carpet got dirty on the edge next to the wall we opened to install the drawer sets and some debris got through the holes in the carpet protector in the closet area. Keep in mind this house was heated by coal in the past and there was a lot of coal dust in the walls. We scrubbed and used a hot water carpet cleaner to remove the dirt. The edge of the carpet was still a bit grey next to the wall and we were unable to get that clean. 4: UNLICENSED ELECTRICIAN: All electrical work has been done to existing codes. We ran two new circuits from the basement distribution panel to the attic for lighting and outlets - the homeowner never had the electrical work inspected as required by the county. Inspection would have shown the work had been done to code. 5: TILE: The bathroom was not part of our project and the tile was something we offered to do for FREE. The homeowner planned to do HVAC work himself. The bathroom had large glass tile on the walls. They asked if we could cut through the tile to allow them to install a vent in the bathroom. He couldn't get anyone else to cut the tile. Before cutting the tile, we noticed several tiles were cracked so we taped the entire area and carefully cut the tile with a diamond blade and eliminated the plaster behind the tile. The tile cuts were perfect and no tiles broken. The homeowner was to install the vent boot over the weekend and connect the HVAC. He failed to install the HVAC and asked us to install the boot and connect it. While cutting the wood lathe behind the tile, some of the cracked tiles came apart. We installed the boot and tried to re-install another spare piece but the glass tile kept cracking. We eventually replaced the complete cracked tile and the vent grille covered any edge damage that had occurred. This was over 12 hours of labor that we did for FREE. 5: PROJECT DURATION: We agree the project took longer than we expected. Delays in the delivery of the flooring product were beyond our control and we did our best to offset those delays by accepting, what in retrospect, was a poorer quality product at a higher price. In total, we had extended our turn-over to the client by 4 weeks because of the delayed flooring delivery. One of the punch list items was an ironing board center that arrived with a broken latch. We arranged to come out and replace the unit and the client cancelled twice in two weeks. That was an additional three weeks after turning the project over to the homeowner. What she doesn’t mention is that we replaced two cabinets that had flaws, free of charge and left them the flawed cabinets for use in their basement rather than returning them. She also doesn’t mention that the windows were washed, the floor cleaned and polished and everything was left cleaner than we found it. We have been in business for over twelve years and continue to delight and satisfy clients throughout the Pittsburgh metropolitan area. This is our first unreasonable client.

They were very professional and timely. They did a good job, and their communication was good too.
Description of Work: We used AC Remodel to get our bathroom remodeled. They took out a bathtub and a small closet and put in a Neo Angle shower. They also re-tiled the floor and tiled the shower enclosure.

We have not moved forward at this time due to other financial obligations, but would use Glenn if/when opportunity arises.
Description of Work: I contacted and set an appointment with AC Remodel. The appointment was cancelled due to an emergency from the contractor. Glenn later contacted us and apologized for the delayed response. We met with Glenn and he readily provided references and showed us previous work. He was professional and courteous.
