They were supposed to clean the vents and one return. When they arrived, I was forced to pay for 1 extra vent and 5 returns at $15 each. I stated I did not want them done, the main person said "They have to be done". I should have called their office and clarified this, but when their equipment is setup and I'm being told I have to get something done, no choice, I agreed. It was an extra $90. It's never good customer service to tell a customer they HAVE to do something, suggest it, highly recommend it - not force them too. That main reason I purchased their service deal for 10 vents, 1 return, and 1 main cleaning is because of the low cost. If they did a good job and in a professional manner, I would think about getting additional items cleaned or serviced by them. This was not a good way to start the service visit. I should have called Groupon and the company's office to find out why I was being forced to have something done when it was not listed on the deal and any of the paperwork. If I did not feel they were knowledgeable or did a good job on basic items, why would I want to pay much more to have them do additional work ? To my fault, I agreed for them to clean the additional returns and 1 additional vent. I know they need to make money and pay the people doing the work, but $15 for a vent and return is a bit too much. So I was looking at an additional $90 to pay, the deal was for less than $34. So in trying to save money, I was paying almost triple of what the deal listed. Again, I should have declined it. Then try proceeded to bring in the gear - the large vacuum tube connected to what looked like a really old vacuum system. And being winter time, the front door had to stay open on a very cold day. Professionalism was highly lacked during the visit. They weren't rude, but how they did the work was very lacking. I try to keep the carpet clean and hoped they would bring booties to protect my carpet, but lost hope for that pretty quick. They started the cleaning of the vents and one of the return. I wish I would have watched to make sure each item I was being charged for, especially the extra ones were actually being cleaned and correctly. 4 guys showed up, only one seemed to be knowledgeable and was directing the others. They plugged in the cords right on top of my clean dishes instead of using the plug on by the floor. They were quick. And when they left, I found out why. They did not clean 4 of the returns and 1 vent. So they charged me extra and did not even do the work. I called Groupon and the company to inform them. Groupon refunded the original price, but that did not include the extra $90 I had to pay them. No one from Crystal Clean called back, until 6 months later - in the winter. It was the owner, a younger person. It's probably a good company, but they use contractors and not knowledgeable ones. He offered to redo the work, I said "I do not want those guys in my house" and as soon as I said Groupon refunded me he lost interest. Of course the bad experience, the extra money I had to pay and for the extra work that I was charged but not done is not worth the $30 I was refunded by Groupon. I would not have known they did not do all the returns if I did not check myself. Always check to make sure they do the work they are supposed to and never pay extra without prior notice. There was no requirement listed stating that I had to get the additional vents/returns done. Very unprofessional, probably illegal too. Research online how to clean the vents & returns. You can just use a vacuum and do it yourself. An overall bad experience.
