Description of Work: They did a very professional job, on time, courteous, clean. | |But there is a troublesome incident concerning the original set of the keys. I am the 2nd owner of the house and the 1st owner handed me with a two key combination of the front door, one is for the padlock and one is for the ordinary lock. They are different keys and I asked why does the door have two individual keys. I was not given the answer and they proceed to make one set of key for both, the padlock and the regular. | |Later I found out that there is a reason for the different set of original keys. I consider this to be a breach of their fiduciary duty. I will not recommend them to my friends.

Description of Work: The brass pitcher handle style lock set on our front door began to tarnish - in fact the finish on the dead bolt and the handle itself wore off. In addition the handle would stick, making it very hard to enter the house. We called this company to come out to change the handle and the lock.

 + -1 moreTwo doors in our house have never functioned properly: the master bedroom and the bathroom. The locksmith removed the lock set from the bathroom: it was missing the lock bolt. The master bedroom door had a lock bolt but not mechanism with which to lock & unlock the door. The locksmith performed the necessary repairs on the latches, and swapped the lock sets out so that the bathroom now has a latching, locking door, and the bedroom now has a latching door. It should be noted that to make these adjustments some machine work was involved on the bolted lock set. The locksmith was on time, all work was performed in a clean workman like manner and was completed within one afternoon. On those few occasions I have needed lock work done, Harvey's has always provided the most satisfactory service.
Description of Work: Came to house, removed two mortise lock sets from doors, returned to shop to perform necessary repairs and returned to house to reinstall locks.

 + -1 moreWE RECEIVED TWO QUOTES FOR THIS JOB. ONE QUOTED APPROX. $400, WHILE HARVEY'S LOCK QUOTED $185 FOR THE SAME JOB. WE WERE SKEPTICAL ABOUT HAVING THE STEEL DOOR CUT DOWN (IT WAS HITTING THE FLOOR WHEN OPENING), BUT IT TURNED OUT TO BE THE BEST WAY TO GO FOR THE PRICE. WE ARE VERY HAPPY AND NO LONGER NEED TO PULL OUR GUTS OUT TO GET THE DOOR OPEN AND CLOSED.
Description of Work: REMOVED REAR DOOR, CUT DOWN, INSTALL NEW RISER PLATE, INSTALLED DOOR SWEEP, AND REINSTALLED DOOR.

WHEN I WAS FINALLY ABLE TO GET THEM ON THE PHONE, THEY OFFERED NO INFORMATION, BUT INSISTED WE BRING IN THE LOCK IN. WHEN I GOT IT IN, THEY QUOTED MORE TO FIX A TINY PART THAN IT WOULD COST TO REPLACE BOTH LOCKS AND THE HANDLES.
