MAYFAIR CONTRACTORS INC

The work was done for somebody else, but we have used them several times. They come out when they say they would and do the job. They are prompt and do excellent work.

It was a best case scenario. In a word it was a great experience.

Very professional, neat and punctual. This turned out exactly as I had hoped.

I called twice this month and left a message on answering machine to return call for estimate on powerwashing and staining deck. Company did not respond to either message. I feel it is unprofessional not to return a phone call. I would understand if company is too busy to do the job, but they should at least return call back. Sorry to have to write a bad report since this company was rated high on Angies List.

it went well- it was a little difficult to schedule, likely because of trying to fit in such a small job and considering weather, but i was grateful that he would do it. jack very generously even painted the interior and wood frame, even though those were not discussed at the initial estimate. when the window frames were painted, there were some minor issues that a team member came back to address. i was a little pickier than this particular team member when it came to details, but in the end the finished product looked great. i've had bad experiences with other companies and solo painters in the past. we plan to use jack's team again with our upcoming plans for more substantial projects.

He washed and let dry for 2-3 day. And stained the deck. He applied the product properly that another contractor did incorrectly. His last words were if anything goes wrong just give me a call.

It went well. He worked very hard for the day but finished in 1 day as promised and it looked great. My only complaint is that I thought he was going to paint the inside of one storage area and he didn't but it was probably a misunderstanding. I will use him again. He is very professional and courteous.

Jack and his team did a great job. It took about 6 days for the entire project. At the start of the project, there were 4 guys (including Jack), working 8 am - 4 pm every day. They arrived promptly each day, and cleaned up as much as possible at the end of each day. Price included labor and all materials. Wallpaper removal was a tough job - foil that had 2 backings. They used high quality paint (Benjamin Moore). They were very accommodating - I asked them to paint the trim of 3 doors (not included in original estimate), and he did not charge extra. The team dwindled down to 1 guy by the last day - finished the trim work and moved furniture back in place by himself. After the 2nd day, we were very comfortable with the team, and left them working in the house by themselves. One suggestion - make sure the drop cloths are well placed. As we've been cleaning up, we did notice a few paint splashes on furniture. Although they used drop cloths everywhere, some of them shifted as they worked. Not a big deal, but something you might want to watch out for. They did leave us all of the extra paint for touch ups. Overall, it was an excellent experience, and I highly recommend Mayfair Contracting for painting and wallpaper removal.

I'm grateful to Angie's list for helping us find good people. The painters were conscientious workers, very pleasant and courteous. There work was flawless.

I read an excellent review of Mayfair on Phillyblog and called Jack. I recall there was a bit of a delay in him getting back to me, but now I know that it's because he's in serious demand due to his trustworthy nature and natural sense of responsibility. He's a stand-up guy. His guys were also nice and my dog liked them, so you can tell they're decent folks. :) Anyway, work quality was excellent - definitely above average. I finally understand the difference between a good paint job and the usual paint job. It does seem, however, that they have a lot of work and can't completely keep up with the communication end of things, since there are several bad reviews on here (entirely due to communication problems, but not due to work dissatisfaction). Excellent work. Prices were not particularly low; they were about in line with the other estimates I got. Totally worth it.

We left a message on their answering machine for a call back regarding a quote on interior painting and they never returned the call. We went with another contractor who returned our call and came right out to do the quote.

He came to give an estimate, told us we'd get the proposal in three days, and it never came. That was nearly a month ago. If you're not interested in doing the work, at least get back to us.

From the moment Jack walked in to give an estimate, which was much lower than others', we had a great feeling about him. He was extremely responsive to every attempt at communication. He even came on a Sunday to do the estimate. His crew was considerate and friendly, and their work was great. They were in our home for about five full days, and Jack was on site and working with them for most of the time. Jack even replaced a chair rail so that we could paint below it for accent. Any small imperfection that we saw was immediately fixed, and Jack told us that we could call him at any time following the completion of the job. We left him and his crew in the house by themselves for many of the days, and we didn't think twice about it. They even made sure that our cat did not escape through any open doors. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Overall, we have been pleased with the work. Jack is a very honest service provider, but has become very busy due to the numerous referrals he gets from Angie's List, which has made it increasingly hard to make our schedule work with his schedule. Not all of this work was done as one job. We insisted that he be present for the second half of the job, as the quality and quantity of work from his employees suffered on the first half of the job when he was not on the job site.

Didn't return the phone call. Used someone else.

Jack was an A+ contractor from the estimate through completion of work. He showed up when he said he would;had an estimate the next day (electronically to my email, which is so convenient) and then started the job when he said he would. They did everything they said they would and more. Very courteous; cleaned up the area when done.

Jack and two of his employees came out on a Friday at about 8:30am. The second they walked in they started working. One of the first things they did, was cover the entire area in tarp to catch any drips or accidents and they were very careful on the new hardwood floor. They were very professional in everything they did and I felt comfortable leaving them in the house, without either of us home. They worked on the area from 8:30 till roughly 4:00. The work looked fantastic and Jack even came back out on his day off, to patch a few small screw holes that he thought were going to be reused. This was my fault for not telling him that they needed to be filled. Overall I would definitely use Mayfair Contractors again and I have already recommended them to our friends and family.

This company never returned my initial call for an estimate. I never did speak to them.

Jack and crew did an outstanding job in a timely manner with responsible prices.

It was simply terrible! I contacted the folks at Mayfair and they seemed very nice. I told them I had a small job and asked them if they were still interested, and they said "yes". When I made the appointment with them for an estimate, they missed their appointment and never called me. They later claimed they had lost my phone number. Again, they seemed very apologetic. So we rescheduled the appointment, and "Dave" came by and seemed friendly enough. He said he would fax me his estimate. He never did. Then I called them and his wife/co-worker to ask for the estimate, she said she would leave him the message to send it. I still have not received it! They are such flakes. I would not waste my time with them again. Can you imagine if they started painting and didn't finish? Or if they did a poor job and you asked them to fix it and they might never respond?

They are the nicest, most easy-going folks! We had a great experience with Jack, Matt and their team. The work looks great and makes the house look new (it's about 100 years old). We had some delays, because of other contractors doing other work in areas of the house, and Mayfair was so understanding and stress-free about it. In addition, they really went the extra mile with the woodworking and repair--dealing with the mouldings, ledge, and paneling and fixing the walls and ceiling--and made it look great. The final result was exactly what we wanted! We would absolutely hire them again.

They were willing to perform extra effort. They were professional in their responses. In and out as promised in 1 day.

They price was reasonable. They showed up on time & did what they said they would do.

Jack arrived on time and provided an estimate the same day. He lowered his price when he was informed that another contractor had bid lower on the job and was able to start sooner. The crew of three worked for three weeks straight, arriving on time every day, getting right to work and causing minimal disruption in our household. They cleaned up every day. They even took the dogs out one day when we weren't home. It was a huge job. Some would have been intimidated by 40 year old wallpaper applied directly to plasterboard walls, but they stripped it right off. It was well worth the money!
