Description of Work: We have had them do our kitchen completely done over. They have also done a power room and bathroom. They expanded the bathroom in the bedroom too. They are very very good. I take pride in my home, so I used them for about once a year to do the up-keeping. They have done our decks too over the past couple of years. They clean it and put on stain. They have put in tile, hardwood floors and tarazza stone. They have put in all new cabinets for us as well.

The job went okay. Just okay. There were some things about the job that didn't sit well with me when all was said-and-done. For one thing, my final bill was not itemized. I was provided an original estimate of $200 for the labor on the two interior doors (which I purchased), and $35 for the labor on installing the toilet water shut-off valve (which I purchased). The specifics of the labor were itemized, which to me was unnecessary because it was basically details of how the doors and shut off valve were installed. The materials purchased were not itemized. Just one line on my bill that simply read, "materials" and the price of approximately $200. I don't doubt Earl's figure, and I know what made up a large portion of the figure, but it just seems strange to have a full page explaining the labor that was completed (which I could have written myself) and a brief mention of materials with no supporting documentation on that figure. I've never been to an auto garage that detailed labor step-by-step and then briefly mentioned the parts necessary for the repairs as "materials" and nothing further. I could have asked him for receipts or how he came up with his figure, but by the time I received the bill, I just wanted to pay it and move on. Also, there were elements of Earl's work on the doors that were not the best of quality. At first glance, everything appeared fine to me, but as I continued seeing the doors day-after-day, I noticed errors and things that were missed. Little things, nothing major. He also has a problem with either not listening when you tell him something, or he's just plain forgetful. This can be annoying when you're paying for his services. He also did something that simply p***** me off. He had to come back a second day to finish up, and I left a key outside so he could let himself in. I came home from work, and everything was undisturbed and I had no missed calls. I called him immediately, no answer. I left him a voice mail, concerned something had happened. I assumed it was a family or personal emergency that kept him from showing up. I started dinner and just as I was about to sit down and relax, I heard a truck door shut. I look outside and there's Earl, getting his material out. It's 4:45 at this point. I come out and of course ask what happened, and he just passively explains how he was caught up on another job. No apology. Didn't bother asking me if starting work when I'm already home and relaxing is okay with me. Nothing. Just took his stuff out and didn't seem to care that I was actually concerned. It would have taken about 90 seconds for him to call me during the day and say he'd be late, say he might not show up, ask if he could come by in the evening. He also could have simply picked up when I called him and said he was on his way and asked me if he could still come by even though the day was basically over. I mean, it's just common sense. I could go on, but I think I made my point. Bottom line is that he'll get the job done, and does a good / moderate job in terms of quality, is not very personable, and seems to be falling victim to old age (not listening and / or forgetting). You get what you pay for....except with Earl, you don't have proof as to half of what you paid for.
