 + 3 moreMy wife and I are very pleased with all the work done at our property by Nick and his team over the years and we recommend D’Antonio Landscape Contracting without any reservations.
Description of Work: We met Nick in the Fall of 2011 to discuss/review a hardscaping project for our backyard. At that time, we were requesting bids from Nick and other hardscaping contractors for a large (>1,000 sq ft of hardscaping) project that included steps, retaining walls, patios, low voltage lighting, 30’ x 30’ rubber mulch play area, over 10,000 sq ft of sod and landscape plants. It is important to note that another local landscaping company that we had used for several large projects in the past was one of the other contractors bidding on our project. We ultimately decided to partner with D’Antonio Landscape Contracting for our project. Our decision was based on 1) a review of pictures of similar projects on Nick’s website, 2) calls to references who engaged D’Antonio Landscape Contracting for similar sized projects, 3) our comfort with Nick, 4) his approach to managing his large projects and 5) the price for the value of what were requesting. Initially, we were going to start our project in the fall of 2011, but a last minute decision on our part to install an in ground pool required a delay in the start of Nick’s work. Nick was very excited for us and actually offered us several suggestions and design ideas. Nick had worked with other customers who had pools installed before his hardscaping work could begin, so he was a great resource for us in this process. The addition of the pool added more work for Nick in terms of hardscaping, landscaping, lighting and another retaining wall. A foundation pad was also added for the delivery of a pool house. Also, due to the size of our project, our township required the installation of an underground water retention basin. Throughout this process, Nick was very accommodating and was always prompt in providing us with the cost and timing estimates for the additional work. Nick worked well with the pool contractors and township officials and coordinated schedules so his workers were able to start their work as soon as possible. The thing we appreciated most about working with Nick is that he was always available to answer our questions. Also, he was very conscious of seeking our advice/input for design ideas (i.e. location of lights, types and location of plants, angle of columns, etc). Nick was a true partner in every sense of the word during this lengthy and sometimes overwhelming process. Last and certainly not least, the quality of the work and the pride exhibited by his workers (especially Roberto) was exceptional. Nick’s cost and timing estimates were spot on and the hardscaping and landscaping was completed shortly after the pool was completed. We have since hired D’Antonio Landscape Contracting for our regular mowing and spring and fall yard work (mulching, pruning, plantings, etc.). A few years after the pool was complete, we embarked on another hardscaping project to replace our front walkway to match the EP Henry pavers that were used in our backyard project. For this project, we also selected D’Antonio Landscape Contracting. We already knew the quality of work to expect from Nick and his workers and we are satisfied that we are receiving the best value based on our prior experience and research. Most recently, we had 12 new trees planted along the front of our property y (to replace trees that were damaged in the ice storm). We hired D’Antonio Landscape Contracting for this project as well.

Nick met with us twice to review the design and types of plants. He was also open to incorporating the plants we liked, while also educating us on the best types of plants for our specific location. I would definitely hire him again.

 + 2 moreNick and his team were excellent and exceeded our expectations. We had a job that a number of contractors balked at due to demo and accessibility issues. Nick approached it with an open mind and was more than willing to entertain some unique requests in a somewhat challenging space, offering sound suggestions to help us realize our vision while respecting our budget. We have a 200+ year old home and he worked with us to find the right balance between modern materials and existing assets to achieve the appropriate look and feel. He seemed very open to entertain any vision, but also offered up what he thought to be the most reasonable solution. We actually expanded the scope of our project to include an adjacent (smaller) project, once we saw the manner in which Nick's team was handling the initial request. Nick was rather accessible (seemed busy, but we took that as a good sign and i would maintain that that was the correct assessment), very personable, returned calls within a reasonable timeframe, and was onsite himself quite a bit to ensure that everything was going smoothly. We felt very comfortable with his team and they worked very hard and diligently throughout the project. The crew went as far as to lay some quick stone steps on a side area that had been minimally rutted out by material removal through the demo process... unexpected, but very appreciated. I am certain that we will be contacting an contracting Nick as future projects arise.
Description of Work: Replace a severely compromised brick patio and wall. Expanded the scope of the work to include replacing a stone entryway.

 + 0 moreThe process went very well. My wife and I are very pleased with the work Nick and his team have completed for us. We would recommend D'antonio Landscape Contracting without hesitation. Professionalism: Nick was extremely friendly and professional since the moment we first spoke to him asking for an estimate. What we initially had in mind turned out to be a bit out of our budget. However, Nick was happy to work with us and made a few suggestions to come up with a plan that satisfied us while also staying within our budget. When it came time to decide on choosing the specifics of the materials such as color and style of the pavers, steps, trees, plants, etc. he made it a point to either meet us at the nursery or concrete distributor to show us everything up close to make sure we were completely happy with our decision. Nick was also very patient while we were going through the HOA and township approval process. He has done work in our community in the past so was well aware of the process and remained patient as we worked through it. Nick's team also made it a point to clean up after themselves and left no mess behind. Communication: Nick was extremely responsive to all of our questions and requests. He consistently answered our phone calls, he responded to our texts and when he did happen to miss a call he would always get back to us in a timely manner. I felt comfortable communicating with Nick throughout the process. The project started the day we were leaving the country for vacation so we were definitely concerned that we would not be there to supervise the work. However, I asked Nick that he text me pictures of the progress at the end of each day so that we could confirm everything was going as planned. Nick did not disappoint and kept in contact the whole time we were away which alleviated our concerns so that we could enjoy our vacation. The project has been completed for a few weeks now and Nick still remains in contact with us to make sure we're satisfied. Quality: We were definitely impressed with the quality of work that Nick and his team have completed. Overall: We love our new patio and our extremely happy with the job. Recommendation: If I had one recommendation for Nick it would be to take more notes regarding the small details of the project. I would imagine it's hard to memorize every detail of every project especially when he may be working multiple projects simultaneously.
Description of Work: Nick installed a 450 square foot E.P. Henry paver patio with 15 foot linear seat wall and firepit and 3 bullnose steps coming off the back of the house. He also landscaped the area surrounding the patio which included installing 2 mulch beds, 2 small trees and multiple flower bushes.

Description of Work: Our flagstone walkway needed repair; sinking areas, chipped and cracked flagstones. Nick's team power-washed the existing flagstone first, then picked it up. They then installed a new stone base and sand base. The flagstone was replaced in its original position; cracked flagstones were replaced. They then swept in polymeric sand and cement bead between the flagstones. The soil around the walkway was seeded.

 + 2 moreNick (the owner) was prompt and helpful with first contact and at discussing various options to execute this. He was recommending Henry pavers for cost but we chose a natural flagstone surface. We also went with wet-laid solid stone over a cinder block core, as this looked more like our front stonework and was a nice accent to the tan stucco on the rear of our house. Ultimately I had provided sketches and plan drawings for him to follow so we both had a good idea of our own expectations and there were no surprises. Not sure this would have been the case without a well thought out scaled drawing. Some of the photos of his work posted on his Facebook account looked like what we were after. His price also seemed the most competitive of three so I gave him the job. Nick?s crew came and removed/repositioned the necessary shrubs, and ripped out the deck portion. They mapped out the perimeter, dug and poured footers for the walls. He referred me to Brian Hunter of Brian Hunter Decks for erecting the pergola portion. He also provided a fair price so I accepted that, it also helped ensure cooperation between these guys, given their previous cooperation together on projects. They had to set the pergola posts in concrete blocks and tie these to the walls with 2x10s before finishing the walls. For the patio surface Nick?s team was careful to grade, even, and compact the foundational bed of crushed stone so it wouldn?t settle and would drain away from the house. Laying of the random flagstone happened surprisingly fast. I needed to point out a couple of adjustments to the gapping around some areas after it was laid but Nick was responsive to any requests. Finishing took quite a while as the polymeric sand fill took a few coats without rain in the forecast so that dragged for what seemed a couple weeks. His workers were polite, and responsive to any questions about what was going on. Nick did often pop in and out quickly so I learned to get his attention if needed Nick was also cooperative with a curve ball that the township threw at me to add an infiltration trench due to the added impervious space square footage increase (which was very minimal but now E.Goshen Twp code). He could have took advantage of me and jacked up the cost to achieve this, but he gave a reasonable added cost figure. He also pushed back a bit with the code inspector, since what they were asking was really overkill, but ultimately it had to be done to the letter. As mentioned we were very pleased with the effort and result.
Description of Work: Project was a partial deck removal followed by a patio installation with low sitting walls. An integrated pergola (separate price/contractor) was also part of the overall project. We were very pleased with the effort and final result.

Waited for about a month to get an estimate and for the job to start was another 3 months I had to keep calling him to remind him of where he was with us. He is very busy and well sought after in Chester County. If your not in a hurry for the work to be done it is well worth the wait. Once work was started it was done in a day and a half. Me and my husband were very happy with the job. I now am not embarrassed of the way our front of house looks. We have great curb appeal now!

 + 0 moreThe work turned out very well. I called him and, after a few back and forths, he came out for an estimate. Very reasonable and he was responsiveness via e-mail and text--which I liked. He is very flexible with scheduling, is on-site at the beginning of the job and he checks the work of his crew. You deal with Nick directly--no sales people or site supervisor or billing person etc. That means he keeps his overhead low and his prices are very reasonable. I also had him give me a price for spring mulch and he beat my existing contractor--so will have him back in the spring for clean-up and mulch.

 + 3 moreThe project went about as well as you can expect a project to go: 1. Nick (the owner) showed up for all quotes and design. He was on-time and communicated if there were any changes in plan. 2. The project started in the window we were given 3. The crew started early, and worked HARD all day - crazy hard - doing stuff I wouldn't want to do in the blazing sun. The crew was polite, responsive, and otherwise on top of things. 4. Because of the timing, we were actually out of town for about half the work. This was stressful for both us, and for Nick, because we couldn't look at things in real time. However, Nick was flexible and sent pictures, responded to our concerns remotely, and made every change we asked him to where we weren't on the same page (and this was small stuff, like a slight curvature at one point in the walk). 5. The final product has been great. The walkway is beautiful, as is the patio. We've used the fire pit several times. We had only a loose vision of the stepping stone area, and this exceeded all our expectations. The regraded area drained well after torrential rains yesterday. On the whole we couldn't be more pleased. 6. Perhaps most telling, Nick has remained responsive after he got paid - a couple of lights on the seat wall weren't working, and one of the side stones on our porch settled a bit. They had people come out and fix it right away. Even today I texted him about the grass seed they planted and got a quick reply (and even an offer to re-seed, which I didn't even ask for!). 7. The price was very reasonable given our scope of work. All in all, this was a great project and I would recommend D'Antonio Landscaping highly.
Description of Work: The company removed a brick walkway in the front and deck in the back, and replaced with EP Henry paver walkway and patio with seat wall and fire pit. Services included replacing old step stones with new walkway and bluestone steps, as well as regrading part of the yard and putting in 3 underground popup drains from downspouts.

He guaranteed me that he will do the job to my satisfaction. The job was done great I told him to do something that was wrong and he fixed it at no charge or no complaints from him either. Second part of the job was to install sod and again the price was right. He installed it in a timely manner and did a great job. I needed extra top soil and he brought it in at no charge. He did everything plus extra the price was right and he was pleasant to work with. I never had a contractor like him. He was great!

As I showed Nick what I needed done he actually made some rather brilliant suggestions to save me some money. I returned from work on the day of the actual service to see a transformed yard. Not only did Nick's crew go above and beyond what I had expected, they actually went even further to clean up a few places just for that added oomph. Frankly, my wife and I could not be happier with the outcome. Landscape contractors are like auto mechanics. If you find a good one you stick with him. Looking forward to using this spring/summer as they completed work this January right before the cold weather/snow.Very professional crew. They worked non-stop and were clean and polite. Nick is very flexible and worked hard to come up with a proposal/plan that met our vision for what we wanted and stayed in budget. His crew worked well with the partnering crews. Very reasonable price for all that the crew did and didn't try to nickel and dime after the fact. Dantonios landscaping and DeckPro make a great team in creating a high end custom deck/patio solutions at a strong value. Trust me, it can be hard to find expertise in both. We highly recommend. Coming back in Spring to finish some of the minor work that couldn't be done in winter to finish the job.
Description of Work: Installed over 600 sq ft paver patio (EP Henry Devonstone) and paver walls with columns and lights. Also, put stone facade with ledge on basement wall exterior. Worked in tandem with DeckPro (new deck installed at same time) and electrician for lighting package.

Description of Work: D'Antonio and crew installed a winding path of EP Henry pavers to our deck. In addition, they paved a concrete patio with EP Henry pavers and created two sets of steps. They also set the property up by landscaping for drainage, moving potential standing water away from the paving site. In addition, they installed underground conduits for future electrical use.
