In July 2015 went to 84 Lumber for cabinets for a wet bar for the lower level of my home. I had considered Home Depot and Lowes, but had heard horror stories. I usually like working with home-town vendors so I was even willing to pay a bit more. With such a small space, it should have been a simple, quick project. I wasn't looking for the highest end or the cheapest...a mid-grade, but still acceptable. The designer to whom I was assigned was quite inexperienced. She wasn't really a "designer", however, her business card indicated this. She wasn't consultative, but did answer questions--never made recommendations. It was obvious that she had no experience to reflect on. Realizing that everyone needs to start somewhere, I continued with her and I made a selections. (bad move on my part.) She did not make a visit to my home, which should have happened in retrospect. The price for the Timberline cabinets was around $2,500 for 5 cabinets and a wine bottle rack. The hardware I chose to match the cabinet style was around $150 for 13 pieces. Although I live about 3 miles away, the delivery fee was extremely high, so I picked up the cabinets myself. The installation fee of over $600 was also too high, so I contracted a 3rd party. When I unboxed products I found that the finish was uneven, some cabinets were damaged, and many of the drawers and doors didn't close properly. I emailed photos and the designer arranged for a manufacturer's rep to visit; she accompanied him. They got lost on the way to my house (3 miles away) and showed up late. Although he tried to just replace a couple of cabinets, after a conversation he agreed to accept the return. 84 Lumber wouldn't allow a refund, so I made another selection on a higher grade Merillat cabinet--of course. I had to spend over $2,000 more. This was not what I had initially wanted but I couldn't get my money back. I priced similar cabinetry at Home Depot and Lowes and it was at least $1,000 cheaper, but was stuck. The new cabinets took about a month to arrive. The $150 hardware would no longer be a match for the new cabinets, and 84 Lumber would not allow a return. (I found beautiful hardware for $4 ea. at Home Depot--1/3 of the 84 Lumber price.), I then decided to contract 84 Lumbers installers, because I didn't want any more issues to arise. When the Merillat cabinets arrived they also had problems! Some of the door and drawer fronts were different styles!. Another delay of 3 weeks. The final install was delayed due to the installers schedule. 84 Lumber did not provide a layout picture to the installer nor did they ensure that all of the items ordered were delivered and in good condition. The installer wasn't sure what to do with some of the inventory. This entire debacle delayed the countertop install, the backsplash install, and the entire project for many, many months. Unprofessional, insufficient knowledge, high priced, poor quality, poor communication, underpaid installers. Stay away.

Poor communicators, not detail-oriented. Call them 4 times before someone calls back. Been hung up on. Order came in, didn't call to tell us. Designer left the company & no one told us. Rather they call & explain & go over our contract, so new person knows what s going on. I was told the work would not be started until all supplies were in, when they started, they didn't have everything. Didn't know who owned our project. Installed in mid-Nov & it's February & still waiting on trim they forgot to order twice, can't get it ourselves & Chip in the new tub wall. Replaced tub caulk 5 times, seam between tub & wall too big & nothing behind it, front caulk dried, but not the back. Mirror frame has chips from the saw and the joints aren't even. Color variance in the floor grout can see where he stopped & started again. Sloppy soldering of plumbing joints I felt my job was too small (read not expensive enough). Their business cards boast sales $, rather see customer satisfaction rating.
