South Hills Painting

We purchased an Angie's Deal for two rooms and had additional work done. The work was done in a timely and professional manner. I would highly recommend. They were far better priced than any other estimates that we got (even with the Angie's Deal) and their work was top notch.

At first we couldn't be happier with Larry at South Hills Painting. He responded in a timely manner to our initial enquiry. He made an appointment to come to visit us and give us a quote. He provided a written quote immediately and was very competitive in his pricing. Additionally, when told that we needed the project to be completed within 3 weeks due to out of town visitors that would be staying in that room, he assured us that he had plenty of time to complete the job. That is where our compliments end for South Hills Painting. I placed a telephone call to inform Larry that we had decided to accept his bid and wanted to start work as soon as possible. After initially visiting our home on a weekend to give us the quote, he then told us that he doesn't do any work on weekends. I told him that although that was inconvenient (and we wished he'd mentioned this earlier) I would speak with my fiance to find out if he could work from home to meet the painters. Upon calling him back the next day to schedule a time for him to start, he then tells us that he's now accepted a very large job "in a prestigious house worth millions of dollars" and that one of his painters "who doesn't have insurance fell off a ladder and got hurt" and therefore, Larry and team won't be able to accept our job for some time (that time was a month away and did not fit the needed timelines that we gave Larry in our original meeting). We found this to be unprofessional and inconsiderate. We will not be calling Larry for future projects in our home. Buyer beware: ensure you have a discussion with Larry about specific start times if you need work done in the near future.

Everything was very well done. Overall a great customer experience.

Larry and his guys arrived and set up their equipment and went right to work. They finished ahead of schedule and cleaned up nicely. I provided paint for the interior doors and banisters, and Larry provided the rest.

Larry returned our phone call for an estimate and came when he said he would. He was very professional and very friendly.He and his crew are great guys to have around. They are knowledgeable and very pleasant. He explained the entire process and gave us a written estimate. After we accepted his proposal he started as scheduled. He covered all shrubbery and flowers and did not leave any mess. They cleaned-up everything. He even painted our old wooden screen door just so it all looked the same and it really made a difference on our back porch. Our house looks brand new. If we had realized how reasonably priced, and how smoothly this could be done we would have had it done years ago. Whenever we need anything painted we'll be calling Larry.

We had received several estimates from other Angie's List painters in the area, but Larry really stood out with a completely sincere and honest approach. He had great experience, proved to be extremely detail-oriented, gave a fair price, and did everything he said he was going to do. Larry and his team adhered to the originally estimated project time frame. They worked with minimal breaks and moved/returned furniture carefully, as well as adhered to any requests I had regarding the removal of shelving, etc. In addition, they were all very pleasant and comfortable to be around while I continued working from home and the family pet pestered them. After the job was completed, I noticed the front of our front door had been missed altogether and contacted Larry. He returned two days later to complete it without hesitation. I wish all service providers were as good as Larry and his team - they are hard to come by these days!!

When I first contacted Larry for an estimate he called me right back and was punctual. He was able to give me a written estimate on the spot. He told me what paint he preferred to use but that he would use any brand of paint I wanted. They arrived on time in the mornings and worked to get the job done even faster than expected. Larry also honored the Angie's List coupon which took an additional $150 off of the orignial estimate of $1,500. They did a wonderful job and the finished room looks wonderful. Larry is great to work with and I would use him and his crew again.

Larry was very professional from the beginning. He came out and looked through the house to do a detailed estimate. He encouraged us to get other estimates. We actually never heard back from several other highly rated Angie's List providers and the one other estimate we did get was much higher than Larry's. We were instantly comfortable with hiring him. We had a kind of tight window, but Larry assured us he would get the job done. He worked over the holiday weekend and actually finished early. The paint looks amazing and the place looks new! With kids we were very h****** the walls and you would never know it. This was in preparation to get our old house on the market but I would definitely hire South Hills Painting for any future jobs at the new house.

During the spring of 2012 I contacted South Hills Painting and Larry promptly arrived on a Saturday morning to provide a quote. After reviewing several quotes, I selected South Hills Painting and notified Larry. He openly admitted that he had just accepted two large jobs and that it would be about a month before I could be scheduled. Rather than have him paint during the hottest part of summer, we scheduled the job for September. Our plans changed when a job change required me to relocate and we had to put our house up for sale. I contacted Larry and he fit us into his schedule two days after our house went on the market. We had a signed sales agreement the day after the work was completed!

Larry, Tim and Todd did excellent work for a very reasonable price. We will use them again and have told our friends to use them as well. They are true professionals. They arrived on time each day. They were courteous, friendly and a pleasure to be around. They made sure we were pleased with their workmanship and exceeded our expectations. For example, the shutter color we picked turned out to be too bright. Larry has the ability to tint paint on site. He did so for the shutters to tone the color down to make them a perfect color. A true professional. We strongly recommend them for your painting needs.

Larry came and gave us an estimate which was actually the best compared to other painters that we had come to our house. Larry was also available to start the next week. Larry, Tim and Todd started every day at 8:30 am and worked straight through the day. They came every day for a week and finished my house in record time. They were incredibly professional and did an excellent job. Everything that my husband and I asked to be done they did and my house looks great. They cleaned up everyday when they were finished and also had leftover paint for me to use for touch ups in the future. I will never use another painter if I need anything else done at my house. He was by far the best contractor I have ever used - and I have used many over the year. I highly recommend him to anyone.

Larry and an assistant did a excellent painting job in one day. Both areas were left spotless. Highly recommended.

Job took about two days to complete. They showed up on time everyday ready to work. Any mess or debris was cleaned each day before they left. Everyone was courteous and professional. South Hills did a fantastic job, and I love the color in my new master bedroom! We will be painting the outside of our house in the coming weeks, and we will definitely call South Hills again.

From start to finish, this project was nothing but pleasure. Larry arrived on time for the initial project bid, carefully explained what the job entailed and left me with a detailed proposal. He performed the work within the timeframe given. When the project began, he and Tim showed up on time and worked conscientiously until it was completed. They matched my paint color perfectly! Moving my furniture was quite a task but they did it carefully and methodically. They removed and rehung photos, removed and rehung drapes and cleaned up as they finished each room. What I especially liked about Larry was his willingness to make suggestions (such as the paint color for the bedrooms) and to do extras for no increase in price. He touched up my cabinet stain when I asked him the best way I could fix them. He painted my mailbox because he and Tim heard me tell my Mom that I needed to do it. He had agreed to touch up a small spot on my kitchen but decided to repaint the entire wall. He and Tim were very personable and professional My house looks terrific...inside and out. I couldn't be more pleased.

Larry came out to give us an estimate at the beginning of April. Compared to other companies that we received estimates from, Larry was very reasonably priced and thorough in his explanation of how they would handle the job, time frame, etc. We hired him about a week later. On the day of the job they arrived promptly at 8:30 a.m as promised and got right to work. They put 2 coats of paint on the walls and also painted all the trim. Larry went further and also painted some of the trim and a door that were in the short hall from the foyer to ensure that the whole area looked finished and matched well. They finished by about 2:00 p.m that day and the foyer looks fantastic! The amount of time it took them was a real plus as a couple of the other painters we had received estimates from told us it would take 2 full days! Overall they did a great job and were a pleasure to work with. Would definitely hire them again!

Larry came exactly when promised to provide an estimate, I was impressed with his knowledge, professionalism and affability. His quoted price was very reasonable, considering all the work that was to be performed. The job took two full days and on both days, Larry and son Todd arrived at 8:30 am PROMPTLY and got right to work. They worked straight through without a break until 4:00 the first day and about 6:00 the second. At the initial meeting, I had neglected to ask Larry to also paint the inside of the large kitchen pantry. When towards the end of the second day, I asked him at the last minute to do it, he said 'yes' without hesitation and did not even charge for it. As indicated in the work description, the panel of one of the kitchen cabinets was damaged and missing. Larry measured the space and purchased and inserted the new panel, and caulked, primed and painted the defective cabinet. It looks like new. Larry and Todd cleaned up thoroughly and the finished work was excellent. All the rooms look clean, fresh and new. Overall, I was very happy with the work and would definitely use South Hills Painting for future painting needs.

The rooms look great - they look brand new. They even patched up a couple water spots that I had on my kitchen ceiling and living room ceiling caused by some water leaks in upstairs bathrooms. They matched the paint so perfect that you can't even tell there was a problem. Great work and a great price. HIGHLY recommend.

Larry arrived on time and was done in 5 hours. Our bedrooms have never looked so good.. he gave me estimates for some additional work which I plan to have him do as well. I had done 75% of the woodwork and now am sorry I didn't wait and let Larry do it all, would have been so much easier and I woildn't have made the mess I did when i spilled some paint. I would highly recommend South Hills Painting.

Larry responded quickly with an estimate and fortunately for me he was able to start within a few days. I explained to him I needed the new rooms painted before we could move on with the home improvement project. I was not too sure of the colors I chose so Larry offered to drop off his paint book. He did so on a Saturday and then came back to get the color choices on Sunday so he would be ready to start painting on Monday. Larry and his crew covered all the flooring and the furniture. There were no paint splatters anywhere and the lines between the colored walls and white ceiling were very clean. There was an area on one wall that I wanted redone. They had their rollers and brushes cleaned for the day, but Larry wanted to make sure I was satisfied with the job and he repainted it right then instead of waiting until the next day. Larry was very easy to work with, he is very professional and it is obvious he wants his jobs to reflect that. At the end of the job I asked for an estimate to paint the rest of the interior of the house.

We had a very good experience with Larry and his crew. Larry promptly returned my original phone call and was over within days to provide an estimate for the work. We wanted the work to be done as soon as possible and he was able to schedule us for the following week. He was very responsive in terms of scheduling and following up with me to get the paint colors / confirm start date and time. He and his crew arrived on time and finished the work within one day. They were friendly and kind and cleaned up afterwards. My husband and I thought they did a great job - the rooms look really nice. We are extremely pleased with the final result and would definitely recommend South Hills Painting to others. We will also use them again for other painting projects in our home.

Larry was recommended to me by the mason that fixed my brick chimney, Larry gave me a very fair price and was very responsible about the work. He and his team worked very hard and he even painted more than I asked him to because he saw that the job would look better as a result. His price was far below other quotes that I got. He finished on time and he did not ask for any more money than was agreed upon in advance. The only negative I could think of was in the finer details that I noticed after the job was done. Overall the place looks fantastic but I'm a detail guy and I notice all the defects. Granted, I would have taken four times longer to do this job myself but I would have cleaned up after myself better and there would not have been any visible problems. Here are some examples of the problems I saw: There were a lot of paint chips in the area around the exterior walls that were hard to clean up. He used drop cloths but not everywhere. He tried to sweep up a bit but didn't do a good job of that. The deck stain dripped onto the asphalt driveway and couldn't be cleaned up. When they went around and touched up the white trim here and there they used the wrong paint finish so if you looked at it in the light a certain way you can see the difference. Larry did everything I asked him to but after a point I just paid him and said thank you because I realized that it would never be good enough for me. I liked Larry and overall I felt that I got my money's worth. But next time I will pay more because now I know that if I'm not going to do it myself I would want a perfectionist on the job.

I had the outside painted for about $800 and the kitchen painted for $400. Overall the job he did went well. I thought he was very professional and he responded quickly. He was able to get my kitchen painted within the same week because I had a party. I will use his services again in the future.

Larry and crew were punctual, detail oriented, and efficient. They were able to paint several rooms within a week of signing the contract and selecting our paint colors. They were extremely flexible in adding on additional work at our request, still able to complete the work in the time he approximated. Pricing was comparable or better than the competition, overall a great choice.

We received 3 estimates. Their's was the most reasonable plus they were able to begin immediately. They came on Tuesday morning right on time and worked through the day. It took them less then a week to finish the entire house. They are now walking through fixing any little touch-ups. I would highly recommend Larry & Todd (Father and son) South Hills Painting and Decorating.
