DS PAINTING

We purchased a deal through Angie's list for 2 painters for a day. Derek contacted us to set up an appointment to review the work needed and what we wanted done. He set up a future day for the job and left us paint color samples to choose. We emailed him our color and finish choice and he took care of the rest, purchasing the paints we needed. Very easy process! On the day of work, Derek and his assistant arrived on time and took great care to cover all work areas. They were very careful not to get paint on the mahogany woodwork and other adjacent areas. The overall paint job was excellent. We would definitely hire Derek again for other paint projects. He is very punctual and professional and the quality of this work is excellent!

The painter showed up without a ladder. He told us that he was positive that we had a bigger bathroom because that's what the quote was for. He never adjusted the quote and charged us double what we should have been charged. He messed up the paint in our bathroom twice. His helper was more interested in playing with our cats than helping and painting. There are red paint drips all over the white molding, the floor, the white cabinet in the bathroom. There are scratches in the corners of the ceiling from the roller in both the bathroom and the kitchen. He estimated the work would be finished in 1 weekend. Since he messed up the bathroom, our house was torn apart for 2+ weeks since he could only come to our house on the weekends. We are unsure of why. They rinsed their tools in our kitchen sick, with our permission, but I didn't realize there were dishes in the sink. The dishes are now stained with paint, as well as sink sprayer. I had to go around the 2 rooms and peel paint off of the window ledges. It was an overall disappointing experience, unfortunately. There was a drywall crack he "repaired" in the kitchen and the crack reappeared. After a phone call, he said he would return in a few days to fix it and I never heard from him again.

Derek gave me a quote for painting which I considered to be quite reasonable. He and his brother showed up for the job on time every day and worked till early evening. In my opinion his attention to detail was fantastic. My rooms have been transformed into beauties. I am planning on have him tackle a bathroom next. He's like Houdini, a magician. He is well worth the price!! You won't be sorry if you hire him. 10 stars

Derek responded quickly because I explained how quickly I needed my kitchen painted, even though he had other requests that had called before I did. He was communicative, and showed up on time for both our first appointment and the date of the work. He did an absolutely excellent job painting and the price was great.

Derek did an excellent job. I was impressed with the thoroughness he exhibited in each facet of the work from patching to final touch up. His communications were equally thorough and he was on time each day. He worked quickly and efficiently and I will definitely be hiring him for some additional work.

Great service! Derek was fast, and efficient, and I was so happy they were able to get in and out in a couple days. I have tons of white trim in my house and everything was super clean when they finished. I let him know I will be contacting him again to paint my front door!

Contractor DS PAINTING did not show up to do work

Derek provided a very reasonable quote after inspecting the job. He started when he said he would be available and finished on time. They were meticulously detailed in their work and very protective of furniture and household items. Excellent craftsmen with great customer service and excellent attention to detail. I highly recommend them for any and all painting needs.

Derek and Ryan arrived on time both days and were very professional. They were perfect! The rooms look so good. Derek gave me suggestions on paint choices and brand and I am so happy with the results. If you need painting, hire the professionals, they do awesome work. I will definitely be hiring them to finish the living/dining/kitchen areas.

I heard about D&S Painting from the guy (Brian Yocum) who did my drywall repairs. I have always done my own painting but the whole house all the rooms was more than I wanted to take on. Derek really impressed me in so many ways. He always answers his cell phone or gets back to you immediately. He was very professional, extremely respectful toward us and treated or home like his own place. His quote was very reasonable and worked extremely hard to complete the job as promised. Derek and his helper Ryan are extremely meticulous painters. Our home was built in 1980 and the walls were very challenging. Derek worked his magic and they look like new again. Derek is extremely approachable and patiently listened to and answered each and every concern and question. My wife and I are very pleased with the outstanding job D&S Painting did and highly recommend them. Greg

Positive aspects: Staff was personable and hard-working. Derek was very accessible by phone and answered immediately or in a short amount of time. Derek was also very responsive to some miscommunication issues that we ultimately resolved with additional clarification. Because the home hadn?t been painted in over ten years it looked worn and had a lot of spackling and priming work that was desperately needed. Derek and his team took on the challenge and spent a lot of time spackling and priming the ceilings, walls, and baseboard trim. Once the paint was applied to the ceiling, walls, baseboard trim, the interior took on a totally different look. It looked fresh, clean, bright, and airy. The house was subsequently placed on the market and we received such positive feedback regarding the paint color and total look of the home. Aspects that could improve are some cleanup issues. Prior to the painting project the hardwood floors were shinny and gleaming, thus, I stressed to Derek that the hardwood floors really need to be protected. Although cloths were laid on the hardwood floors and tile to protect from dust and paint, they were not sufficiently protected. The team did attempt to vacuum clean the dust and then used water to wipe the floors which ultimately resulted in the floors looking dull and grimmy. Also, paint needed to be scraped off of several of the hardware doors. The cleanup was the only disappointing aspect of the job. Overall their prepping and painting quality was excellent?it now looks like a totally different home. Derek virtually changed a home that looked worn to a home that looks like a million bucks.

Both guys did a great job and worked quickly. They were professional and taped up/ covered furniture, etc. They did a great job. We are considering using them again - this time for external painting. Regarding their price, we used the Angie's list coupon for the first day and paid the full rate for the second day.

Work was excellent and we are well pleased. Derek stayed within his quote even though the paper removal part of the job proved a bit more challenging than any of us could have anticipated. Derek and Ryan were neat, clean, punctual and professional. We will not hesitate to employ them in the future.

Derek and Ryan were great guys to work with and did a very nice job. They showed up early every day and stayed late into the day, working very hard all day long. Quality was great, and the price was very reasonable. I would definitely recommend them.

Derek and Ryan were easy to work with. They did a great job and finished it quickly and left the house clean, too. They were also able to start the job much sooner than some of the other highly rated painters on Angie's list. I would recommend them to my friends.

The guys did a great job. When they left, they left, they cleaned up and left the property as nice as when they came.

This was our first time using DS Painting and certainly will NOT be our last ! These two gentleman were reliable, responsible, courteous, punctual, meticulous and extremely hard working. Our painting job came out great !!! They showed up EXACTLY when they said they would. We received a confirmation reminder call the night before, They worked hard and did a great job ! They were very nice too! You can see how good these guys work together. You can tell they have been doing this a long time. It was refreshing to find a contractor that actually delivers what he promises !! I would recommend them in a heartbeat !!! As far as the few F's that are in his reviews, we received our estimate promptly from DS and it wound up in my junk mail folder. It is very possible that this happened to other people and they cleaned out the junk mail without scanning the subject matter first, just saying ..... He and his assistant were courteous and prompt besides being extremely careful in protecting areas of the home as they painted the assigned rooms and did a complete clean up of all the areas each of the four days that it took to complete the job. Derek Seidler is very knowledgeable of the different types of paint and colors. Some rooms needed extended spackling of damaged areas on the walls; we no longer even know where those damaged areas were! We highly recommend DS Painting if you are interested in a very professional painter for your home.

After accepting an estimate, Derek called to say he had an opening , I accepted and Derek & Ryan arrived promptly to begin painting that Monday. My boyfriend & I had moved everything out of basement area and clean thoroughly on Saturday prior to them coming.(He commented on how well we had prepped for him). They laid drop cloths and painted walls in laundry room & furnace room with Drylok ( I had provided) said he painted 3 coats, had about a gallon from a 5 gallon left. He prepped the laundry room floor saying I wouldn't have enough for both & left for the day. (spent 5 hrs) Next day came back & Derek realized I had bought an epoxy floor kit large enough to do both the laundry AND furnace area ( my original intent) and said he would do both. My only concern is that the furnace area floor was not prepped but he assured me it would be ok and painted. (3 hrs) Other issue was that I had gotten the paint tinted at Lowes but the person at the paint counter only tinted 1 can! there is a slight difference where you can see in some places the cutting in line is NOT the same color as the floor but it IS only a basement!! I was very patient and did'nt walk on the floor for 3 days, have now moved everything back in .Very pleased with the results; the basement looks clean & fresh. Derek & Ryan were a pleasure to work with. Both were very professional, conscientious & respectful. I would recommend them highly. The only reason why I gave them a B on responsiveness is because we played phone tag & had some glitches in getting him here for the estimate but as soon as that was resolved: he was great!

He was great. He taped everything off in room. He was very friendly. The ceilings look great. He even vacuumed both rooms once done. My daughter and I got a kick our of his singing to the radio. He made us laugh. I was a great experience

Derek was pleasant, accommodating and open to our requests. Nothing seemed to be a problem for him. He agreed to use the brand of paint we preferred, which was a big plus for us. He started the job on the day we discussed and was on time every day. The project turned out perfectly and he made sure we were satisfied with all work and cleaned up before leaving. Of special note, his drywall repair work is exceptional. Thank you, Derek, for a job well done.

Amazed at how much Derek completed on just day 1! Al the trim finished and most of the cut-in for the first floor too. Quickly gave me the vision of what the color I picked would really look like - I loved it! Day 2 - upstairs hall - done (2 coats!).Really brightened up the hallway. If he had stopped there - I would have been very happy. The clean line of the finished trim was perfect. Then day 3, most of the downstairs done with the darker shade - added the warmth to the whole first floor. Again the clean fresh painted trim against the newly painted wall was striking. Finally the suspense of blending the lighter shade from upstairs with the darker shade downstairs in the 2-story foyer - perfect. Derek was the one that decided where the break should be and I will say I was skeptical at first - almost selected a different corner and glad I didn't. He was right on with the choice - perfect blend with the way the light crosses the foyer. The most amazing is all was done by one guy! I have had several people over and all are impressed and I am sure Derek will get some calls. Fantastic job. Will certainly use him again, and again. I love to paint but I may consider retiring the brush - Derek does a very professional job for a more than reasonable price. The only not so great part was the clean-up needed after day 1. There was plaster dust everywhere from the sanding - I didn't expect that. And also, the estimate of how much paint was needed could have been better - I have more leftover than I thought I would have. Next time, I will have Derek buy the paint.

Derek is very responsive and made the process effortless. Work was completed within three days (Saturday through Monday) and the results are great! His proposal estimate was reasonable and he did not charge over what was included. He was definitely interested in our thoughts and ensured that any questions we had were answered fully. We've asked Derek to provide us additional proposals on a few other jobs we want done in the near future. If you're looking for someone who is honest, hard working, always on time and does a great job - don't think twice about calling him. Professional results!
