The experience started of great. Barb was very timely and made time during the week and weekends to stop by and talk through the design. She came up with a great layout of the bathroom and how it would come together. After the design work was done she sent me a quote for about $10,000 for my 7' x 5' bathroom. This price did not include materials except for plumbing and electrical. As I was researching the various quotes for plumbing, electrical, tile, etc. I was noticing that these costs were significantly above the market cost of the area. The quote didn't really justify these costs or lay them out in terms of dollars per hour or cost per square footage, so I didn't understand why some of these costs were so high. The plumber himself was $2000 more than even the highest plumber on angles list for the same work. When I inquired about why the cost was this high I was met with "Well this is the price, you are happy to find another plumber". No explanation to the cost, which is all I was really asked for. Im happy to pay the costs for high quality work, and I was somehow irritated that I was met with immediate resistance when I didn't even ask about switching plumber. I went ahead and kept the project going and the plumber was great and timely, the first week went really smooth and the plumber and electrician both finished within their respective times. I never got a quote on a tile work; as a note, the $10,000 quote didn't include tile work as it said TBD. I asked for weeks on what the cost would be and I kept getting, "Ill get back to you". Finally, I got the quote. $2500. Again, she wouldn't say if it was price per square foot or price per hour, which are reasonable standards of measurement to determine cost. Again, I got the "he's a high end tile guy, but you are happy to shop around. I don't shop my guys". I just asked if it was per square foot or per hour, she thought I was complaining about the cost (which was again $1000) higher than the next guy. One thing to note too, for as much as he was costing, he wasn't available for 2 weeks. So I ended up hiring someone else to come do the tile work on my own, because I couldn't afford to waste time without a bathroom. Once the tile guy was done, the glass guy came the next week and had the glass in the shower installed within the next week. The sub actually reached out to me directly instead of going through Barb, who at this point kept choosing not to touch base with me or keep me in contact. I asked her when the plumber could come do the finish work. No timelines, was just told he's really busy and "probably 2 weeks out". Instead of working with him to schedule time an exact time, I kept getting an excuse as to why we couldn't figure it out. To be honest, she kept making it seem like she was doing me a favor, even though I was the paying customer. The plumber finally came and got everything done, and then it was time for the electrician to come in and finish up. Literally just needing to finish the bathroom fan and adjust the light. Ive been trying to get her to schedule time with him since November 5th. It took 6 weeks to get him in, and when I asked her on the 6th week when she was ever going to get back to me on times, she was shocked he didnt come out already. Like, suddenly all the subs were going to me directly, instead of going through her for the whole project. The bathroom is finally done, and I love the look of it. All of the subs do excellent work, and were super respectful of my house and the job when they were in my house. I really thought barb was a nice person, and she has a good vision for the work, just was not a good project manager/general contractor for the project. She rarely checked in, would never explain how she came up with the prices, and treated me like she was doing a favor my taking my money and being unresponsive. At the end of the day, if I am paying $10k for a bathroom remodel, she should have been the one constantly reaching out to me to find my availability to schedule subs to come out to do the work. Instead, I was always the one reaching out to her and trying to figure out when they were free, when they could come, etc. I would not choose to hire Barb again.

We first met with Barb Goodrich on 2/19/2014 to assess our home?s storm damage. Next, we met with her and our insurance adjuster on 2/28/2014 to review the damage and repairs needed. On 6/11/2014 Goodrich began repairs to our home and was paid in full from the insurance check we had received. However, she has never returned to finish the work. She ripped out the kitchen exterior door (and framing) ? and found she had ordered the wrong door, complicating the door installation. Because we had waited so long, we agreed to accept the door and Goodrich?s plan to adapt it as necessary. Now, she won't come back to finish up the adaptation and trim. We have called her and called her. We never get a call back. Sometimes, she's texted us and said she was on vacation or that she would talk to us next week, but nothing ever happened. To keep our project moving, we decided to have someone else do the work, and we ordered the materials (8/7/2014). Finally (8/17/2014 -- after more than 2 months), Goodrich sends a text message: ?I am available this week or I can send you a check for $200 and you can have someone else install your trim?. In an email dated 8/17/2014, we informed Goodrich that we would not proceed with an Angie?s List complaint if her suggested $200 payment was made promptly. She responded in an email dated 8/18/2014, ?I am not compelled to have any further contact with you or write you a check as early suggested?. Goodrich has taken our money and will not repay us for work she left undone. This has been a nightmare for us. Her unfinished work has prevented other workers from completing their jobs -- and our kitchen remains unfinished. We are proceeding with this Angie?s List complaint so others (especially seniors) don?t get in the same situation with Goodrich Renovations, LLC. To whom it may concern. It came to my attention that there was obvious insurance fraud involved in this project and I felt obligated to step away from the finish of this project. I do not condone clients desire to misrepresent work needs for financial gain to insurance companies.

She is very professional, personable, and has really good design intuition especially on older homes like our Bungalow. She sticks to her budget and schedule. And she is a fun person to talk to while the work is proceeding. We have been very pleased with the work she has done for us.
Description of Work: We have used Barb Goodrich several times over the past couple of years. She has helped us design a Craftsman Fireplace and then did the tile work. She put in a 2 story laundry shoot. Rebuilt our basement stairs. And now she is finishing and installing a new front door.
