First of all, it took 2 days to have the work done. We dropped it off at 9:00am on December 28th and went to pick it up at six that night. It hadn't even been started. We were told that they would start on it and maybe have it done by 9:00pm. The store closes at 9:00. We told them to just keep it overnight. When we finally picked it up at 6:00 on Tuesday, we were disappointed to find that the bed of the pickup (again, a Volkswagen Pickup) hadn't been washed, dried or waxed. According to the brochure ALL painted surfaces should have been washed, dried and waxed. The interior had been cleaned and condition, but again, there is very little to the interior of the car. It was VERY damp inside the cab. The Rims and tires were detailed. The body (except for the bed of the truck) had been waxed. All in All, the truck has been waxed and the interior cleaned. It looks nice. However, I truly feel that the bed of the truck should have been waxed - it is a painted surface. Also, telling me to come back at 6:00 and not even starting work on the truck is just rude - especially when your customer has to try and arrange transportation to and from your location. Admittedly this was right after Christmas so Car Toys was crazy busy with installations. However, I had made the appointment for detailing well before Christmas. The truck was waxed and the interior was cleaned, but it wasn't a pleasant experience. For the price, we won't be going back to them
Description of Work: This detailing was for a 81 Volkswagen Pickup truck and this was the Car Toys on Canyon Rd, Beaverton. For the Signature Detail Package they were to: INTERIOR - Vacuum Sears, Carpet, Truck or Rear Cargo Area; Clean and Dress Dash, Vents, Instruments; clean all cloth and leather surfaces; hot water extract carpets, floor mats & Rear cargo area; condition leather/fabric protect cloth & Carpet; Clean door jambs, windows inside and out Exterior: Hand wash & dry; detailers clay bar application; dry door jambs; 2 step paint rejuvenation polish application of "Very Cherry" carnuba wax to ALL paint surfaces; detail rims & tires; clean windows inside and out

I was quite disappointed with the overall quality of the detailing job. This was an older (2003) Expedition so I certainly wasn't expecting miracles, but there were a number of just quality of work issues. - Multiple places where residual wax was between body panels or on chrome. - Numerous small marks still on the paint that could be removed with my fingernail. Since the Signature detail is supposed to include clay bar, those should have been removed during the clay bar and wax. - Inconsistent front windshield exterior cleaning. - Rear storage compartment wasn't even vacuumed. - Vehicle was parked under a pine tree (!) after completion, resulting in some pitch and debris on the truck. - Even though they had the vehicle all day Saturday and most of Sunday, the carpet was still very wet. They were busy (and griping about it) when I picked up the vehicle late Sunday. Since I was doing the detailing in order to sell the truck and really needed to get pictures done before dark, I just dealt with the above issues myself when I got home. I ended up going over the whole vehicle with a microfiber cloth to remove residual wax and marks and also used paper towels to pat dry the carpet to remove the worst of the moisture. Overall this did not nearly meet expectations, especially for a detailing service at the mid/high price range. I certainly won't be having future detailing work done at Car Toys in Tigard.

They installed the radio without difficulty. The car had an electric antenna and I was not sure if the motor worked. I decided to fix the antenna with a standard antenna. They did not have an antenna in stock and they suggested I buy one at Baxter. The one I brought was defective and they said they would order me one. I took the antenna motor to Toyota and they said all it needs is a new antenna mask. I order the antenna mask online. I brought the antenna mask and they canceled the order for the antenna and installed the new antenna mask. Install of the antenna mask was not easy and took them about 1 1/2 hours. They charged me additional $15, but consider all the time spent on it (two different days) I had no problem with the extra cost. They were very courteous and took ownership of the issue and felt confident they would get it fix. I would definitely use them again..
Description of Work: They installed a new Radio/CD Player and fixed my antenna.

Very satisfied with the stereo and installation. It sounds great. Not as happy with the extended warranty issues, but we've decided not to cancel it, even though there's a provision to do that within 30 days of receipt of the policy. I know we could have saved money, perhaps $200, by buying mail-order and hiring a local installer, but we were willing to pay the premium to have a hands-on experience with the stereo in the store.
Description of Work: We decided to treat ourselves to a new stereo system in our 1983 Volvo. Staff were helpful in helping us pick the best unit. Installation was clean and neat. The one area of concern is that we were pressured a bit for an extended warranty. That wouldn't be a problem in itself, as we feel the terms are pretty good, but 1) much of what they offer as a bonus with it is only provided verbally and later confirmed in an email, not written, 2) the outside company providing the warranty took 2 months to get the policy to us for our review, and it took several calls and then email to Car Toys to get a copy to review via email. Good parts about the store's verbal warranty are: Full store credit on end of term if not used. If we get rid of this car, they will provide removal and installation of unit to the new car. Price did come in over estimate, as we needed new front speakers, but I agree that there really was a problem and don't feel they high-balled us on that.

The work was very detailed since this car does not provide much extra room for wiring and under the hood add ons. The installer was knowledgeable but I questioned the BlueTooth integration with my radio since the volume is always too high when I use it and I can not lower it. I did have to return on the day after the work was done when I noticed screws missing on some dash panels. I had to go to the dealer for the screws and Car Toys installed them and paid for them. The security system is working as expected. I have additional accessory work planned but not certain I will want this store to do the work.
Description of Work: Car Toys upgraded my security alarm system with a key-less entry install on a 1993 Nissan 300ZX. At the same time they installed a BlueTooth Hands-free kit.

I was dreading this experience, expecting it to take all day, and to be dramatically overpriced with the company of a cheesy, gross salesman. I was so pleasantly surprised! I told the salesman my budget and he pointed out the best products for me. Features of the alarm and stereo were nicely explained and the work was complete in less than a few hours. After the work was complete the same salesman walked me through how to use my new stereo, iPOD connection, alarm, etc. It was such a nice surprise and I walked away paying less than I was quoted at other shops.
Description of Work: Car Toys Tigard installed remote key less entry with alarm and a new car stereo for my 2002 Honda Accord.
