The ReBuilding Center accepts the region's largest volume of used building and remodeling materials, providing resources for the benefit of communities with the goal of promoting sustainable practices.
The experience was fine. After dropping off materials I could no longer use, I looked through the many stacks of lumber to find what I did need.
Description of Work: I don't go to the Rebuilding Center for them to do any work. It's a place to take still usable fixtures, lumber, appliances, etc. and to find what you need. I have found and bought baseboards and door trim to match that in my house, sizes that are no longer milled. I'm delighted to also be able to take items that I can no longer use and know they will be re-used by someone else. It's a catch-as-catch-can place. You won't always find what you need on the first try, but persistence pays off.

They are the best place in the world. They have all kinds of interesting stuff that can be reused. It is a great place to drop off your old stuff and get someone else?s trash that can become your treasure. It is a great place for recycled stuff. I'll never buy electrical metal boxes; they have stacks of them for only like ten cents. They have unique things like old antique church pews. You do have to sort through a lot of trash to get to the treasures.
Description of Work: I used The Rebuilding Center of Our United Villages to get some old windows for an art project.

I liked the idea that The Rebuilding Center was a non-profit organization looking to raise funds by providing their "deconstruction service." I received what I considered a fair estimate. This being my first experience in having a structure torn down I had several questions about the process, all of which were quickly answered, and done so in layman's terms. It then became a no-brainer to approve the quote I was given. The workers showed up on time and finished the removal in a day. The garage was becoming such an eyesore to look at every day so I'm very glad it is gone, and very pleased with the service I received.
Description of Work: The detached garage on my property was starting to fall in on itself so I decided to have it removed entirely.
Description of Work: In addition to going to the store almost every weekend for great, unique pieces of carpentry, lighting, ect to incorporate into my home, I also had the Rebuilding Center do the demolition for my kitchen remodel. I wanted to remove all the cabinets, tile and appliances. They came on time and took care of everything, including hauling it all away in one day. I paid them a small fee and was still able to write off all the donated materials (cabinets, ect) on my taxes that year. They were great- I will definitely use them again!

It cost $7 for a prehung door that I am going to use for a set in a skit for a church program. If you are a non-profit organization and if you go on Wednesday mornings, I think, they will actually give you stuff for free. This is a useful thing to know if you are a non-profit organization. All of their materials are recycled. I had put new windows in my home about three years ago and I donated the old ones to them. They take all kinds of building things. If you are a very creative person and willing to work very hard, you could find everything you need to build a house there.
Description of Work: I bought a door from The Rebuilding Center Of Our United Villages. They carried it out and put it in my car.

Prices are very fair and you re-use/recycle which is a great feeling. Their employees seem very happy and they have a volunteer program. I enjoy supporting this organization. They also have a group that will come tear out your house before a remodel and recycle your old stuff. You can donate by dropping things off.
Description of Work: I've used the rebuliding center for various craft projects - turning old 5-panel doors into tables, headboards, etc. Windows into wall hangings and coat racks and frames. It's a great place to find one of a kind items. Also fun to create projects with. I have also found great light fixtures there...and some original glass knobs/door pulls

This brand-new window still had it's manufacturer's stickers on the glass. It looked like a contractor had bought the wrong size for his customer and then donated it the Rebuilding Center. His loss was our gain! We had looked at similar windows at Home Depot, and they were about $1,200 brand new. It is vinyl outside, wooden on the inside and it's in perfect shape. The Rebuilding Center was very nice and held it for us overnight while we went home to measure our space. We buy quite a bit of used house parts here, and also donate a lot of materials. The employees are very nice, very helpful, and appreciative. It is like a treasure hunt every time you go in: you never know what you're going to find!
Description of Work: We bought a brand new 9ft by 3ft double hung, triple window for only $300.

We bought 2 windows there. Not so great on price, we could have found them cheaper, but we liked having a large selection. They have a lot of doors too, and they are organized and easy to find if you are looking for a particular size. It's a fun place to browse too.
Description of Work: Bought 2 vintage windows.
