The review from my daughter: DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY The reason we initially decided to use this company was because they gave us the best quote before our move, over the phone. I informed the sales rep of all of our furniture that would be moving, as well as 50 boxes. However, I did not know that he inputted 50 SMALL boxes (I understand I could have actively asked this question, but it would have been nice to know). They approximated it would cost 1500.00 with 2100 pounds. On the day the movers were supposed to arrive, I requested a later pick up time as I was returning from a collegiate athletics event. I was told the movers would be there around 2. I was called by the driver at 1:20 and informed that they were still two hours away in Eugene, and but would be leaving within the hour and would call me when they did. I did not receive any calls, and called back multiple times around 3:30 until I finally got ahold of them. They were still in Eugene, and again said they would leave within the hour and give me a call when they did. At nearly 6, I had not been called. I called and they said that they had just then left Eugene. I inquired as to the time they would be there, and the driver became frustrated, said they were driving and couldn't talk, and hung up on me. They finally arrived around 8 p.m. The driver walked in and said we had 5000 pounds of items easily. They began to move things out of our apartment. I had to take a call from my mother, but my roommate and two friends were still there. They moved to the kitchen to stay out of the way, and the driver said "Hey, while you're in there, why don't you make me a sandwich?". This was extremely insulting as myself, my roommate, and our friends are all women in our early twenties. After asking to look at the truck and take pictures, the driver laughed in my face. His partner was very considerate and took me down to the parking lot and encouraged me to do this. The driver's estimate of our weight dropped drastically from 5000 pounds to 3500 pounds when we told him we wanted to follow him as he weighed the truck. When following the driver, he did not use his blinker, sped significantly, and made himself difficult to follow. They weighed the truck and drove to the warehouse, where they began unloading. The driver's partner was going to stay at the warehouse, a weight difference we were going to have to pay for. The encouraged us to put approximately his weight in moving pads on the truck, to even the difference. At this time, he continually asked me if I understood what I was doing, as if I was too unintelligent to understand his directions. When we went back for the second truck weighing, I was told to get in the truck to even the weight difference. I did so, but brought a friend with me to stand outside the door. The driver said, "What, I'm not going to rape you." and laughed. When we had the final receipt, his final estimate of 3500 pounds stood. He laughed, and said, "I'm sorry, but I just love when I'm right." This is when we parted ways. After this ordeal, we actively contacted the company to let them know how insulted we were by our treatment. We were informed that the driver was suspended, but we refused to pay full price for the move. We were able to get 10% taken off, but our move was already 500 dollars over our combined budget, a difficult discrepancy for college students moving across country. We were repeatedly told we would be called back with specific information on specific days by management, but received no such calls and had to contact them again ourselves. When we finally received our things, our entertainment center was broken beyond repair, the TV's built in stand was cracked as if something heavy had been placed on it, the TV's screen has a vertical line that was not there before, a large rubbermaid tub was cracked and broken, boxes labeled fragile had obviously been thrown around as the dishes inside were cracked and destroyed, and our TV powercord was missing. This company is not worth it. We were treated with disrespect every step of the way. We were misled on our estimate, multiple individuals became frustrated and angry with us, sexist comments were common on the night of our load, and we are now waiting for our claim to be reviewed for multiple damages. I have never been disrespected so much and did not appreciate being treated like a bimbo by multiple individuals throughout the process.

I relocated from Seattle to the midwest with my girlfriend and called several companies to get estimates on a 10x15 ft. storage unit in N. Seattle. We decided on Portland, OR-based Northwest Relocation. Over the phone they were initially very helpful but as the month of March dragged on, virtually unreachable. Shipment was loaded onto a truck where it sat and was mixed w/other shipments until "the truck is full." Perhaps that is what took all the time. The company is difficult, expensive, and became very hard to reach. In the end, I had five phone numbers in my iPhone under "Northwest Relocation." Only in the last 3-4 days was I given the phone number of my driver. He had a Florida area code and spoke Russian. - David Wilhelm
Description of Work: One Peggy said that they ship by weight. However, amid all the paperwork that required a total of 16 initials and at least 5 signatures, there were escape clauses. One was that the company reserves the right to use cubic feet rather than weight to assess the final cost. My estimate from Peggy, who promised in our very first phone conversation that the company ships by weight, (503 area code) was 700$ - 800$. Final cost was around $1200. The actual cost by cubic feet was $4.53 and 4.83, and they decide which charges to use ("base" vs. "additional"). On paper, their maximum timeframe to complete the shipment is 21 days,- or they promise a $20 per day refund. Over the phone, a customer service rep. amended this to 21 business days. Then, amid all the initials and signatures, one last amendment we had to sign read, "Northwest Relocation is unable to guarantee a specific date of delivery." The shipment arrived on Easter Sunday, where I could not get to my bank to issue a money order or cashier's check.

Do NOT use this company for any reason You get what you pay for
Description of Work: Move from Seattle to San Antonio. My furniture was picked up on the 30th of August. I told them the first date I could accept delivey was Sept 7th. I was assurred it would be Monday or Tuesday the following week. You have to pay a deposit. Which I did. They you have to pay half in cash or credit card when they load. The loaded the truck, but did not weigh it first and since the move was based on weight that was a concern. I had less going back then I had going to Seattle when I used Mayflower. (Who made it to Seattle in three days. In fact they beat me there. ) When I challenged them on not weighing the truck first I was told by the driver Nick "It is too far away" The off loaded my stuff and reloaded it after they weighted the truck. There were lounge chairs not mine in the truck. I ended up paying 200 more then the quote. They did not load my stuff to come to San Antonion until Wednesday the 12th and it did not arrive until the 18th. I called the manager Gil who made fun of my concerns and whenn I called the driver to ask when he would be there as I had to work and somebody had to drive 2 hours to meet them he hung up on me. Gil the manager told me " You asked him trick questions" I asked him when he would be in San Antonio. You have to pay by money order when they arrive. I had 39 boxes some were old, but many were new. The boxes were torn , crushed or coming open. The broke a 4 drawer stand i had. Broke the top in half. Glasses were broke. The dog food carrier was missing a wheel. These things had all been moved by MayFlower and by United without any breakage. I did the packing on all the moves. Gil the manager was rude, and lied ot me about the delivery date, When it finally came, boxes were smashed furniture was broken. Bed was not put together right. Things were missing, dup broken.

DO NOT USE THEM!! They didn't put the shipping bolts in my washer, it's ruined. I would've had originally said local moves only but clearly even the local guys don't know what they're doing. The owner is rude and not communicative at all. He kept blowing me off and literally lied to me. I paid for a guaranteed delivery and they were over 10 days late beyond the guaranteed date. I later found out that the owner contracted my move out to some guy that showed up in a UHAUL truck who then hired some guy off the street and couldn't even climb my stairs. Most of my stuff was damaged. They lost the feet to my ottoman, and worst of all they left without assembling my furniture! Claiming it was too complex to assemble when they are the ones that disassembled it. I later figured it out myself! ABSOLUTELY UNPROFESSIONAL AND RUDE....AND I WILL ADD TOTAL MORONS.

I had someone come out and give me an estimate and they walked through and saw all of the contents of the house. They gave me a "not to exceed" bid. They tried to charge us three to four thousand dollars more to move everything. We got them talked down to about $1600 over our "not to exceed" bit. The people who packed our stuff and moved it all were nice and friendly. However, they shoved all of my grandmothers china into a box with very small amount of paper. I specifically told them I wanted them to pay attention to this china and take care when packing it and they didn't. It was a terrible move. I trusted the person who came out for the estimate because they're a local company and seemed to be sincere and trustworthy. This was not the case. It was pretty bad! Everything I worried about pretty much happened.

All in all, 98% of my experience was negative
Description of Work: I was waiting to see if I received a tool box that was lost in my move (they told me they found it) before writing my final review. It never arrived. My last minute move began with a quote from Budget. This is the first problem. They are middle men who quote low to get the sale, then the bad news when NW Relocation shows up and it's TRIPLE the price. The foreman was young but nice enough. He spent too much time bashing Budget and not working with his men this I felt put them behind schedule. One of the workers didn't speak or understand English very well, he needed to be supervised but he wasn't and this caused most of my troubles with them. He packed my moving folder with all my necessary papers, passport and money that was near my computer on the counter. Mind you his job was to pack the kitchen items, pots, pans, etc. When it was discovered that the folder was missing, Dan(the foreman) immediately blamed me. Saying that I was mistaken and often times customers say things like that and it wasn't true. He was pretty cold and unhelpful until he suddenly remembered seeing the leather folder himself. Then he softened his tone with me. Happily, they unloaded my boxes at the warehouse and found my folder. This was very nice and I was happy to get it back, they corrected their mistake. But it never should have happened in the first place. However, while unpacking the boxes, they didn’t repack carefully, my clothes got dirty and items were broken. He also packed two bags of garbage that was smelly when I opened my boxes. Stupid and unprofessional. When my items arrived, the delivery guy held my things hostage until I paid him in cash first. He refused to take my items off the truck. So I paid him. then we were suppose to count the boxes to make sure nothing was missing, he refused to do that. He then proceeded to hit on me asking to come back and make dinner for me and help me unpack. I was disgusted. Then around 10:30pm he called saying that he found a rug in his truck that belonged to me. He said he couldn't bring it back because he was gambling and he couldn't leave his 'good winning hand’. I had to get up and get dressed in the middle of the night to go get my rug. In addition, most of my dishes were broken, my lamps were destroyed and my bookcase was damaged because it was never put in a box as promised. Then finally, I called the office asking about my toolbox. Neil said he found it and was tying to reach me. Mind you he was calling the wrong number. He said that they would put it on the next truck down here. When I never received it, I called and I was told that they sent it UPS. I asked for the weigh bill number to trace it. I was told that they lost it. So then I said I could still find it with the credit card number that was used. He then told me, that he paid cash so there's no record. You tell me, what business does this? You be the judge as to what happened to my tool box?? They stole it.

Great service, on time, even almost beat us to Portland! Neil and his team were very professional and careful with all of our stuff. Nothing was damaged or broken! The move into the new house was not pleasant for them (big hill, tons of stairs) but I never heard any complaints from any of them. They maintained such a great attitude, went out of their way to be friendly, and made us laugh during a stressful time for our family. They even went out of their way to be kind to my children, allowing them to "help" move things into the house. I consider Neal and his team to be the first friends we made in a new city. They were simply amazing and I would use them again in a heartbeat! I highly recommend them.

This is the same review I place on YELP: Recently moved back to Portland after a number of years in Pasadena thanks to the help of these guys. Had 5 in-home estimates done down there, but after worrying about the timing for the arrival of our things along with the fact that most of the lines we were talking to don't make regular trips to the NW, we got in touch with NW Relocation. The fact that they couldn't physically do an in-home inspection was the most difficult part of the process. They had to take my word for the amount of lbs we thought we had (to be safe, I gave them the highest number from my in-home estimates) and in turn gave me a very good price and the assurance they'd be in Portland by the day we needed them to. The movers themselves were excellent (Tally and Edgar). Really great guys. Smart, capable and fast without being careless...plus they were more than willing to entertain my small daughters' moving industry curiosities. Only problem was when they arrived they thought our stuff would weigh in at 1,400 - 2,000 lbs more than what our estimate was for. The driver suggested (and I hope it was not nefariously) that I pay for cubic feet rather than lbs to save money. My quote at that point jumped $1,200. I was a bit p*****, but stood my guns and suggested I doubted that all 5 of my in-home estimates had purposely under-priced me in hopes of earning my business. After a number of back and forth calls between the driver and owner (Gil?) in Hebrew (I wish I had a translator), things seemed to be fine. They packed up and after making a couple other So Cal stops, headed north with our belongs. I was feeling a little off-kilter wondering if I might actually have shot myself in the foot. What if our things actually did weigh so much more than I thought? Needless to say, the thought of paying $1,200 or more than I had originally budgeted for made sleeping that night difficult. Meanwhile though, we set North in our vehicle. Soon after, Tim thankfully called to let us know that our things actually weighed in at 400 lbs less than our original estimate. Hallelujah!!! Turns out we saved a couple hundred bucks from what we had budgeted. They actually beat us to Portland, getting there late Friday while we got there Saturday afternoon (we left Thursday, but had to pause a bit due to some serious Shasta pass stormage). Gil called us a couple times to see where we were. He said he didn't want to have to pay the driving team overtime and would have to charge me if we didn't make it in time. I called BS on that, saying we never said we'd be at the home at any specific time -- in fact they had said if we didn't make it there Saturday, they'd hold our things behind lock and key and happily deliver on Sunday. Turns out we got there right at the end of Gil's "overtime" window and the same team (plus one) from Pasadena were there to unload. And once again...they absolutely killed it (in a good way of course)! I'm sure everyone's moving experience is different. Ours was not without tons of stress and wondering if our things were safe and secure and that we weren't getting totally scammed somehow (some business just feel that way don't they). That said, things worked out extremely well for us. I would use NW Relocation again and hardily recommend them to anyone moving points north or south on the west coast, or within Portland itself (just try and get that in-home inspection / weight thing nailed down the best you can). BTW --- MY PRICE ABOVE INCLUDES $300 TIP.

The two movers arrived on time and were professional and easy to work with. They had my items packed within the 2.5 hours I was quoted, and we headed over to my new home. At the new place, they unloaded and were very careful with my items - I was impressed! The total amount of the move was within what I was quoted on the estimate. Overall, my experience with this moving company was great. It was right on par with what I expected, and I was very pleased with the customer service and professional movers.

I had the worst customer service experience I have ever had with this company. First of all, I was told my stuff would be moved within 14 days. When the two weeks were up, I called to find out what was going on, and it was clarified that it was 14 business days. As this deadline approached, I did finally receive a call telling me a driver had picked up my things and it would be 4-5 days until they would be delivered. Four days later, I received a call saying that the truck broke down, that my things were safe for the time being, and that it was unknown when the next truck would come pick them up. I asked for a ballpark estimate, and was told at least 2 more days, and that I would be kept updated of the situation. Four days later, I still had not heard from the moving company, so I called for an update. I was told that due to the Passover holiday, they were having trouble finding drivers. I mentioned to the receptionist who took my call that I was displeased at the situation; as a customer one has to meet their end of the bargain by paying promptly, but the company was not meeting theirs. In addition, I was becoming concerned that I had to take a trip out of the country due to an impending death in the family and was just waiting on my things to be able to leave. Not only were my things past due, but now I had an urgent, unexpected need. A couple days later, the same person called to tell me they had a new driver, and that in a few days I would get a call from the supervisor telling me when the driver was arriving to my city, and so that I could voice my concerns to someone who could do something about them. Again, I did not receive the call as promised by the end of the week, so again I had to call the following Monday so I could make plans. When I told the supervisor that this was the second time I was promised a call and didn t get one, she told me that she had been busy and that it was just Monday morning and that she hadn t gotten to me on her list of things to do yet. When I proceeded to mention my disappointment at the situation as well as to ask for a creative solution around my sudden need to leave the country, I just got a curt, Well, I m sorry you feel that way , which isn t an apology at all. I was trying to explain that since my stuff was almost two weeks past due and that if it didn t arrive soon I wasn t going to be here to receive it, the supervisor retorted: Well, trucks break down all the time. If you can't understand that trucks break down, there is nothing else I can do for you. She also told me that my stuff was not past due, even though it was she herself who had told me weeks earlier that my delivery window was until the 15th of April. Surprised at such a base attitude, and toward a customer, no less, I replied that I was left no choice but to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Well then you do what you feel you have to do was the response I got. Terrible attitude.
Description of Work: A different company subcontracted NW Relocation to find a driver to move my things from Portland, OR, to Texas. NW Relocation picked up my boxes from storage and put them on a truck to Texas (eventually). The driver was late, forgot to call me with an approximate time, as promised, and was disorganized. As he opened the truck to unload, stuff fell out all over the place. My boxes were all smashed, and the driver tried to unload other people's stuff at my house.
